Holiday to Australia ! But where to jump ?
bob.dino replied to lintern's topic in Events & Places to Jump
When in Brisbane, go to Toogoolawah for a brace of Caravans. Heading down the coast to Byron Bay, there's a DZ with a Caravan and a 206. North of Sydney, there's Elderslie (185), and Warnervale (206 & occasional turbine). In Sydney, there's Picton, with a Skyvan, Otter, 750XL, and Turbine Beaver. Melbourne has Nagambie with a 750XL. Those are all the DZs I've personally visited, and I'm sure there are more, though I think I've covered all the turbines near your intended route. -
Race between car and wingsuit on UK TV - Top Gear

Does VLC not play .wmv on Mac? -
By the looks of it, the index is completely buggered & needs a complete rebuild.

did I spell the word wrong? What you meant. However, you were oh so close to some rather dark humour.

As a Rigger during a reserve repack do you re-pack the main?
bob.dino replied to fugozzie's topic in Gear and Rigging
I have no insight into the situation, or to what did or didn't happen, but if you're going to accuse someone of unethical behaviour, you could at least fill out your profile. Anonymous attacks on someone's character are cowardly - display some acceptance of responsibility and tell us who you are. -
My SE k750i has a nice world clock, so I've no excuse for not knowing. Not caring, on the other hand, is something else .

A few months ago, Aerodyne were selling stock Triathlons for USD 700. I don't think they're doing so any more.

Good idea...

Just like most things in skydiving . If it was easy, it wouldn't be any fun

The easiest way to get on with Irish people is not to bring up the past, and if it does come up, to admit that both sides did some pretty horrible things to each other, and that no-one's exactly innocent. A friend of mine is a Scottish Proddy, was in the UK Navy (& tried out for the SBS), and we can discuss things like this. Because we're not dogmatic about it, and we don't make lazy generalisations.

Nothing. Jumping out of a plane is scary. If you don't have full trust in your gear, the fear can be magnified. Don't try and beat down the fear. Acknowledge it, acknowledge the source of it, and jump more. Familiarity breeds comfort. The more you jump the less scared you'll be. At least, that's what worked for me. And maybe spring for a custom container?

Don't bother visiting Ireland - you'll probably just get pissed in Temple Bar and a pick a fight. See, stereotyping is easy. With an attitude like yours you're unlikely to ever meet nice Irish people. They'll avoid you.

Confusing windsock direction and landing downwind
bob.dino replied to sjc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I really dont like those in very low wind. People will pick 1, and follow it, and inevitably other jumpers will follow the other "streamer" wich point 180deg away.... I prefer 1 wind indicator per landing area. Agreed. We have the rule that "in light and variable, land North". Not everybody follows it, but the idea is nice. -

I was speaking specifically about F-111 mains, and in particular the PD series of canopies, not about reserves such as the PD-R.
-
Looks good, and if the sizing's right, so is Bonnie . And I think you would do well to heed Terry's advice too. A new D-ring reserve ripcord is USD 60 from Sunpath.

If we're playing semantics, define 'retail'.

The basic premise was quite decent. I've not been involved in any compliance-related work, so I'm not sure how useful or otherwise it is.

Ok what canopy should i buy from this list
bob.dino replied to airborne82nd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
The Crossfire2 is a Kiwi canopy. I'd imagine it has more to do with the Sales/Support/Dealer network that Icarus built in the US than with the origin of the canopy. -
But make sure the heroine can't get to the cocaine, or you might find she's snorted it all by the time you land.
-
The important question: who are you going to bring?
-
Is the Pilot not designed to be a beginner canopy at lighter wing loadings? Yup. Not a student canopy, but a definitely suitable as a novice canopy. Dunno.
-
Yup. My teammate put on lots of lead and started loading her PD170 about 1.1 and the landings started to really suck. In my limited experience with F111 mains, loading them above 1.0 is a good recipe for crap landings. I'm sure those with more experience on such canopies will chime in.

Glad i wasn't the only one. Got me as well...

Free 20'X30' tent on DZ row at the WFFC
bob.dino replied to Fleahop's topic in Events & Places to Jump
You could have a "RoamingDZ goes to England" tent at the WFFC, with pints of ale, meat pies, and its own portable cloud generator. To make it properly realistic, you'll need a bunch of ex-Army types making everyone sign off on a beerline check for their buddy.
