Downwind Landing vs. Low Turn
bob.dino replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
And there is an Easter bunny and a Santa Claus. Don't forget to tell them about the Tooth Fairy too. Huh? I don't quite get this post... maybe I'm just being dense. Could you elaborate? -
What phone have you got?

Downwind Landing vs. Low Turn

I can attest to that. -
If you close your visor just before exit and open it once you're under canopy, you'll minimise the risk of any fogging issues.

Really? Last time I was back home, everyone was stoked with it. In fact, the only people I know that regularly badmouth the EUR are English folk obsessed with keeping the GBP.

You are. It's not a liquid enough currency. Since most nations need to buy oil, they need to keep a stockpile of the currency they can use to buy it. Ideally this currency will have low volatility (ie its value is stable) and plenty of liquidity (it's easy to obtain). The USD suits this to a T, and the EUR is gaining ground in this area. If oil can be traded in EUR, many nations will be able to reduce their holding of USD instruments and increase the EUR instruments in their FX reserves.

Yep, of course you can. It can be repacked at any time, and will be good for 120/180* days from the date of the repack. * I think NZ is a 6 month repack cycle, but I'm not certain.

There is no such thing as a good "last minute software update" in a life-saving device. Any and all code changes should result in a complete retesting of the product. /software engineer.

Condolences to all whose lives she touched, and especially to Bob and her family. BSBD.

In regards to the hard pull on the cutaway: when was the last time you cleaned & lubricated your cutaway cables? edit: how many jumps had you done at the boogie? How many were beach landings? I'm curious as to the possibility of dirt/sand in the housings contributing to the pull force (cf. Aerodyne SB). edit to the edit: upon learning to read properly, I discovered this shouldn't have been the problem.

My palms get sweaty thinking about skydiving, and I've over 650 jumps. Your fears are perfectly rational - jumping out of airplanes is a damn fool thing to do. It's also a huge amount of fun and really good for the soul. The best advice I can give is just to get out there and do it... once you're jumping again and current, it'll seem a lot less scary. Welcome back

We jump year-round.

Syndey Morning Herald article with quotes from this thread. Condolences one and all.

Look for the Adidas/Goodyear driving shoes - smooth sole and ankle support. No rubber on the toes, so crap if you spend time on creepers, but otherwise good.

Has the PAC lived up to expectations?

What's a cocky asshole? Someone who's confident, playful, and a bit flirty? Then yeah, of course they're attractive. Very few women are attracted to insecure, morose depressives (17yo goth chicks may be an exception). Would you want a relationship with someone who was no fun to be around? Didn't think so.

What about the second jump with AB?

A couple of quotes I found over the weekend:
-
1 teammate hospitalised* : 10 : 0 Ten 4-way jumps on a slow weekend, due to planes being down for maintenance and a cranky Skyvan. * with a dislocated ankle from sliding out a landing.

Holiday to Australia ! But where to jump ?
bob.dino replied to lintern's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yup. November 2007, the 4th WCCP will be held there. Drop me a note when you're coming over and we'll go for a beer. Oh, and if you're going to be in Australia over Christmas, Picton has a $27/slot boogie, with all the beer you can drink included from Dec 26 to Jan 2. Last year they did 6,500 slots over the week.
