Austrailian jumpers! do you know this canopy?
bob.dino replied to teason's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's not on the APF Stolen Gear List, but I've emailed the APF Office and posted to skysurfer.com.au. Thanks for pointing this out -
You need to move to Sydney. There's ads for AussieBum all over the buses and billboards here...

When you say "connect", do you mean "map a drive"? Is the 2K machine behind a firewall of any sort (hardware or software)? Can you ping name_of_2k_machine from the XP machine?
-
But with 10k jumps he should know all that already .

See that would matter to me more than the absolutely perfect job. But then, the lure of the dream job may be too much for you to resist? So, you wanna die old, poor, and unappreciated then?

You're more than entitled to your opinion, but you do have some basic facts misinterpreted. When the UK signs up to a treaty such as the European Convention on Human Rights, then the actions of people, the courts, and the government are held to the standards of that treaty. That's not exactly surprising now, is it? Otherwise, what's the point of signing it? The EU has no jurisdiction in many areas, but rules have been set in competition law, open markets, and similar. There's been a relatively recent push into social law (things like "no, you can't make people work 80hr weeks"), but as far as I remember the UK has an exemption from that. Might I suggest getting your information about Europe from a source other than The Daily Mail or The Sun? Neither are exactly impartial when it comes to the subject of the UK in Europe. And no, I don't wear a poppy. I'm Irish.

Forget about the money. You don't absolutely need it, so let's just focus on job vs. city. Couple of questions: a- What age are you? b- What are your career aspirations? c- What are the promotion opportunities in Austin vs Houston jobs?

The imperial system sucks. Let's go back to shillings and pence, shall we?

Do we need a Hook Turn -- Bounce Book?
bob.dino replied to ZigZagMarquis's topic in Safety and Training
Agreed. There's something uniquely visceral about the sound of bones snapping. -
Sucks for the Outside Centre the first time they encounter it though . And yes, I'm talking from experience. Fortunately not at Nats though...

A story with more detail.

My response to Kelel01's thread about assuming....*Pissed*

You're an idiot if you don't. Bev is damn cool and the opportunity to spend time in another country is not to be sniffed at. -
2.6yrs. Planning on reassessing at about 3yrs. I reassess every six months or so - stops me spending too much time second-guessing myself.

You know you're getting older when you get Keanu Reaves and Patrick Swayze confused .

Attaboy Tonto. Hope you're having fun

Agreed. Only one team can win; every team can have fun.

I write software and manage the development team of a small startup.

Ever looked deep into another's eyes? You can have a complete conversation without saying a word.

The Spectre will probably open a bit nicer, and the Sabre2 will probably be a bit better if you want to get into swooping. A Safire2 would also be a good choice. I doubt you'll be disappointed in any of the three. If you can, demo them. See which you like best before you part with your hard-earned

Ok you freakwent flyers.. where should I shop for plane tickets?
bob.dino replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
If you're travelling USA -> Australia, the only direct flights are on Qantas and United. Silly protectionist countries. You can, however, go via NZ with Air New Zealand, and Air Canada go from Vancouver. There's also the option of going via the Pacific Rim and possibly through Hawaii/Fiji or similar. -
What do you want to do with the canopy? A bit of CRW? Some Sport Accuracy? Learn to swoop? Wanna jump camera?

1.98C is approximately 3.56F.

Give it a few years for someone else to find out if there's side-effects, then yeah, sure. But I'd probably get some swimmers frozen first, just in case.

I thought they damn near wiped them out a couple of centuries ago?
