  1. It's relatively common for the aircraft to take off from an airport and have the jumpers land somewhere else. The jumpers are then bussed back to the airport. This is prevalent in tandem-focussed operations that want to land passengers by or on the beach. Other operations have separate DZs for experienced (Toogoolawah) and tandem-only (Coolum Beach) jumpers. Toogoolawah has the runway and landing area next to each other, while I believe Coolum has a separate take-off and landing area.
  2. Honest question: why would you want a rig in camouflage unless you're actually using it for military jumps?

  4. The Chinese appear to have three types of diesel-electric boat in service, with the best being Russian Kilo-class subs. So, unlikely that you've anyone to blame but those pesky Ruskies.
  5. I wonder why it surfaced at all. It's diesel-electric. They can't stay submerged indefinitely.
  6. That is such a cool thing to do. The DZ should buy him beer when he graduates, not the other way 'round
  7. There are no LAX-operated lockers or oversize item storage facilities anymore. You should be able to look up baggage services here, but the form is broken. edit: http://www.laxluggagestorage.com/
  8. This is not a definitive answer, but it looks like Windows Picture and Fax Viewer is using the same thumbnails that Explorer itself uses. If so, the thumbnail is most probably cached and doesn't represent the information in the file. So, I doubt the original file can be reconstructed.
  9. You can get a HookR helmet now, and add the camera box later, when you're ready for it. I believe you can do the same with Cookie Composites helmets. Edit: if Craig (skysurfcam) says you can add the box to an Mxv later, then I'd believe him.
  10. Wire transfer = Bank transfer ~= SWIFT transfer (if it's international).

    Amtrak...

I've only done NYC - Boston, and it was fine. The rolling stock was a little old, and the train wasn't exactly fast, but the train was clean and arrived on time. No complaints. Note: I'm used to European trains, so my standards are fairly high.
  12. Define thumbnail. Is that the thumbnail you see in Windows Explorer when you have View | Thumbnails selected? Or the thumbnail displayed by some program?
  13. Jan, I understood your point of view up to this statement. In my opinion it's a cheap shot that detracts from the points raised earlier in your post. dave.
  14. It's also fairly loud (at least for a Turbine), being Garrett-powered.
  15. Yep. The overgrown mouse is correct - December is nice weather time, even in Melbourne
  16. It's the music video for the reworking of "Somebody to Love" by the Boogie Pimps.
  17. It's Top Gear. I'd be really surprised if it was fake. These are the guys that raced a Porsche Cayenne against a Vampire V2 wingsuit.
  18. We're not psychic - wanna provide a link so we can see? For the record: £ == GBP (British pounds) € == EUR (Euro)
  19. Fly to Empuriabrava. Do AFF. Sorted.
