What canopy are you jumping and at what wingloading? If you finish the flare properly, you shouldn't be running on a regular basis.

Anonymous inner class to handle the event is the way I'd go. If I recall correctly, the Java Tutorial (available for free from Sun) has a nice discussion and explanation. The best book I've ever read on Java was Core Java, but it's been updated several times and split into two volumes since I last looked at it (in 1997?).

Apparently, sixty were made, and I'm sure there have been a number of other aftermarket conversions. I think Wipaire offer one.

Ask airtwardo - he knows more about demos than most.

Before blaming skydiving for your malaise, I'd look outside the sport for possible problems. Do you like your new job/career? Do you enjoy living in California? Do you like Californians?

So...who has time to "acquire a taste" for something??
bob.dino replied to SkydiveStMarys's topic in The Bonfire
You've got 80-ish years to acquire taste. But you won't if you don't try. -
Shit. I missed the rest of the fun! Meetings suck. Welcome to hell, boyo

...and he's in charge now. The has retired to Florida. I, for one, welcome our new Sarfie overlords. Will we have to pretend we like Castle to post in here now?

udder is in Western Australia... 9am Florida time is 11pm WA time.

Canopies are sold without risers - risers & dbag are part of the container.

Grant's gonna be pissed. Next time he abuses Ian, he'll just get banned .

Thanks for the work and the conversations Chuck. Much appreciated.

As Saskia says, try a search. This subject has been debated back and forth many times (though obviously my point of view is the correct one ).

How many jumps for skydiving respect?
bob.dino replied to llkenziell's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"Respect" and "good enough to jump with" are not always synonymous. You get my respect when you earn it - and that's not necessarily by being able to do 20 in time or swoop the pond. It's an attitude thing. You're good enough to jump with if, with your skills and mine, we're able to do the jump safely. If you're a newby freeflier, you're not good enough to jump with, because we're not good enough to get out of each other's way if we fuck up. When it comes to flatflying, if you're cleared to jump with others, give me a ticket and let's get on a load -
Congrats. Have fun, whatever you do

Move to Australia. It's summer here.

Good call on the P.

Cool. So, when are you coming to Sydney?

Your Australian to American translator is on the blink mate.

All the best Bill. Heal up well!

A Sabre2 and a Spectre are relatively similar canopies, and both are pretty damn fine. I did 400-ish jumps on my Spectre190. How much do you weigh? Your wingloading (you + gear in lb / canopy size in sqft) has a large effect on how the Spectre 170 will fly. For example, for someone with 41 jumps that weighs 60kg, a Spectre 170 might be a fine choice, but for someone that weighs 110kg it really wouldn't. Wingloading Calculations 60kg is 132lb, plus 25lb for the rig = 157lb. Divide by 170 and you get a wingloading of ~0.9. 110kg is 242lb, plus 25lb for the rig = 267lb. Divide by 170 and you get a wingloading of ~1.57. For more on why this matters, see the Performance Designs article Wingloading and its Effects. Welcome to the sport

In Australia, CASA (=FAA) has the authority to regulate skydiving. They have delegated that authority to the APF and another association called the ASA. If the USA decided to regulate skydiving or skydiving training, this would be one approach - you're only legal if you're operating under the auspices of an approved organisation such as the USPA. This keeps the authority (FAA) and the flexibility (USPA & others). People then can't break USPA rules with impunity, because in doing so they're getting on the wrong side of the FAA.

Assume the frog position, and pass the baton
bob.dino replied to davelepka's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
It'd be dangerous - we can't have you losing concentration as you get on the rears. -
Nah, it's from their Labs. Which do seem to be aping Google and producing some pretty cool stuff now.
