Do you know what's involved in laying a runway suitable for a DC-9? Will the construction interrupt normal jump operations? /just curious

Brian Germain's seminar in Snohomish

Well ahead of you on that one. For the Sydney course I kept him locked in a cage at my place so he couldn't get away . -

I thought women could do it over and over again? And that guys were the ones who had to take a break? My mistake.

The fact that Yosemite is on the UNESCO World Heritage List doesn't mean it's been given away to the UN . It just means that it's been internationally recognised as a site of "outstanding value to humanity". Having a site on the World Heritage List brings tourism, expert help in conservation, and a strong incentive not to put a shopping mall on top of the thing. It's a pretty cool program . edit: As for lobbying UNESCO for access, dunno. They don't have any direct control over the park, but if denying BASE jumpers access was against the principles of the WHL, it might be a good way to put pressure on the NPS. The WHL is very high profile. Whether that'd be counterproductive by just pissing off the NPS is another matter...

For Australia, sections 11 & 12 of the Op Regs document the requirements. The APF office can put you in contact with someone to discuss details needed to convert a US rating to an Australian one.

Without getting this thread moved to Speaker's Corner: you can't own a handgun in Australia. And you certainly can't shoot possums with them. Chill.

Would you like some cheese with your whine?

It is a very American thread. I don't know of anywhere else in the Western world where the proper response to a pest animal is firearms .
-
It was very very funny, given I was on the other side of the world.

Yup. A search for posts by you containing the word "BASE" reveals a hell of a lot of posts in the Recycle Bin .

You don't know much about BASE jumping.

There's a 4-way team in Australia called Flat White. IC = 6' 8". OC = 5' 4" or so.

I'm 6' 3" and 180lbs. Damn right I wish I could stand up in our Otter! If I stand completely upright in the Skyvan, I'll knock myself out on the lip of the door on exit .

Paraphrasing you: You don't say?

Being a midget skydiver means you might get opportunities regularly-sized skydivers might not get. You may also get discounted jump tickets if you sit in the pilot's lap on the ride up. However, it's still up to the midget skydiver to take advantage of these opportunities, and some do. Some don't . edit: apologies to the Daves featured .

If you've any questions on the characteristics of a particular canopy, just click on the 'Search Posts' link near the top of the page and enter the name of the canopy. The two most popular moden 7-cell designs are probably the Aerodyne Triathlon and PD Spectre. I really enjoy my Spectre.

Shite. I have a Samurai on order (Big Air Sportz; made by PD) and I'm seriously hoping it makes it to Perris for the start of August when I'm there. That's nine weeks from ordering. Fingers crossed.

Two of the top three canopy pilots on my dropzone - all Open competitors in the last WCCP - each did close to a thousand jumps on their first canopy. (I haven't asked the third, so I don't know about him.) Or you could've done what I did: buy the shoes, jumpsuit, and helmet to match the second-hand container . -
And ears. Don't forget the fluffy ears .

Hang on... you're threatening two greenies? Brave woman .

All the stories about Otters being virtually unstallable must be true . Have fun, get pics!
