If you buy a canopy that's too small (=fast) you'll end up like the guy with 300 jumps who can't stand up a landing. Buy something that'll put you at about a 1.0 wingloading and you'll have the time to learn to fly it properly.
-
Yep. Happened last year in Australia. One person gathering their canopy got taken out by a second person landing. Destroyed a knee, requiring a pretty thorough reconstruction...

Nice idea. I might even consider buying some buying some from over here, and if I win a repack donating it to a British-based mate .
-
More info? How did it perform? Did it noticably affect the openings or flying characteristics? Any maintenance concerns? etc, etc... Thanks!

Could you not work out a deal with the DZO and another jumper so they can buy the credit off you? Donations. Best of luck with your new interests. If you buy a plane make sure it's certified for door-off operation .

I was reading this thread and wondering how to phrase my response. Then I came across yours; you've just saved me the trouble. Attaboy. I've taken my share of illegal drugs, drank lots and lots, and even smoked the (very) odd cigarette. However, I can count the number of times I've taken painkillers since the age of fourteen on one hand.

:4:0 Four 4-way jumps. Delayed start on Saturday was due to fog, and today was completely blown out . My teammate brought birthday cake for my 27th today and we ate Thai and drank wine and had a great time . Thanks Nic!

The video crashes Quicktime 7.0.2a38 on a fully-patched Win2K SP4.

Constructive critique. Be aware: I have no formal training, but lots of opinions . Mad Dog credit is good. I don't like the font used for the title. Feels like Wordart. Cut from 0:34 feels abrupt because the centre of attention shifts up quickly. Slow fade at 01:07 works really well I would have held the the donut pic at 01:14 a smidgen longer. As it is, the judges would have to bust it ;-) Cut at 01:54 should be earlier or later. Centre of interest moves right to person entering frame then immediately gets jerked left to sun. Given the slow pace you're aiming for, that feels too violent. I really like the slo-mo break-off at 02:06 03:10: pull the bloody slider down ;-) In general the transitions feel a bit too fast for the pace of the music. Love the sunset ending. And yeah, Jo's damn fine .

Does Premiere support the Soreneson codec? That gives much nicer Quicktime support.

I bought my PC350E from Digital Rev (the same seller as you). Have had no problems. They claim to have an Australian agent for warranty issues, but I've not had occasion to test them out. Be aware that you'll be liable for GST & duty, and since the camera costs over $1000, you'll need to make a trip to your local customs depot to get the appropriate form filled out. The form is available on the web, but the information you need to fill it out isn't . There's also a $48.50 processing fee for the form. You'll need to bring a printout of the eBay auction to prove the price. The camera I bought listed for AUD 1399 ended up costing me AUD 1680. So be aware. Any questions about the process, PM me.

I'd suggest starting here. -
There's also been at least three threads on it in the last month or so.

Skydive Atlanta Giveback Weekend 9th-10th July
bob.dino replied to ianmdrennan's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yup. My DZ runs 4-way weekends throughout the year, introducing newer jumpers to the fun of 4-way. The last one resulted in two-possibly-three new Intermediate teams that're going to Nationals -

That's a really cool idea. Give my kudos to the coaches.
