  1. Maybe not by the end of the evening though
  2. This is the correct answer. Next time, buy wine with a screw-top
  3. Usually in the Northern Hemisphere summer. More. If you want to jump at the Herc Boogie, you'll need to go hard between now and then. In 2004, the minimum was 300 non-student jumps for belly flyers.
  4. It's also possible it's been retrofitted with a larger slider.
  5. That's too much for a month. You could easily spend three weeks in Ireland alone. Go to fewer places, and see more of them. edit: I should read the thread before I reply. Listen to Frenchy & NWFlyer.
  6. PM Tonto. He's been around SA skydiving for a while and should be able to let you know what's going on.
  7. If I remember correctly, it's also Brian Germain's home DZ. What more could you ask for?
  8. You've written a lot of good stuff in your time (cf. most of the Scary Stories from the Old Days thread), but this one takes the biscuit. Attaboy.
  9. Grab a hold of the eagle and tell the bastard to start flapping.
  10. Yup. It's 120m x 30m, and it's up and running. The pond is full, the banks are firmed, and someone's already swum the length of it for a jump ticket. edit: I don't have pics of anyone running the pond as yet.
  11. The helmet is safe - it's wearing a skydiver for protection. (joke stolen from some comedian)
  12. I prefer Main Expedited Reserve Deployment (MERDe) .
  13. A disposable camera. Passed it 'round in freefall and took photos, held onto it through deployment, and developed some blurry photos!
  14. From Fiona McEachern, the Australian IPC delegate: Wagga Wagga is a town in New South Wales, Australia. The origin of the name, from the Tourism Wagga Wagga website:
  15. Such an incredibly apposite misspelling .
  16. I've not been around all that long, so I can't tell you how it used to be, but when I started I found most skydiving companies relaxed to the point of annoyance. That said, I spent the four years before taking up skydiving working in London and ordering from Amazon, so I'd gotten kinda used to instant gratification. It took a while to readjust . I should mention that Skydiving Magazine store has always been excellent. Things are dispatched quickly, arrive in good condition, and I've never had a problem.
  17. Given it's a German site, those prices are almost certainly in euro. At the moment, 1 EUR ~= 1.25 USD, so that give you: seal (each): EUR 33 = USD 41 shipping (for two): EUR 23 = USD 28.
  18. What about the parachute? Does it have to duck too?
  19. Haven't you got a custom rig on order? Why the ?
  20. I am never ever ever going to jump with you. Ick! The best advice I can give you (and I've just under two years in the sport), is not to do too many solos. You can develop a lot of bad habits without even realising. Habits that can take a long time and a lot of frustration to later break. If you fancy flying on your belly, do lots of 2- & 3-ways. Try to jump with more experienced folk. Listen. Smile. Be safe. Have fun
