  1. So? It's a global marketplace... I can't speak for HK, but the Singaporeans know how to build and run things. Singapore Airlines is a far better carrier than any of the major US guys.
  2. Sounds cool! One feature request, if I may. Right-clicking on a file, then selecting Save As leaves me with a dialog box in which the suggested file name is "pafiledb.php". I then need to overwrite it with the proper name. Validated on WinXP with Firefox 1.5b1, and IE 5.5, and on Win2K with Firefox 1.06 and IE-something-or-other. Is there any chance you could do some fancy stuff so that the real filename appears? A URL of the following form would work: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/download/collison.mov or http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/download/collison.mov?my_other_vars You could probably even use URL rewriting in Apache to do: http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/collision.mov?action=file&id=2706 ...just replacing the reference to pafiledb.php with the name of the file being downloaded. It'd make downloading files significantly easier. Thanks for providing a wonderful resource!
  3. Half-Welsh? Shouldn't it be you shagging the sheep instead of Clay?
  4. The company with over 57% market share? Shocking indeed.
  5. Unless there's some context to this that I've missed, those antics just sound like the standard jumpers-being-idiots rather than jumpers-being-sexist-pigs.
  6. Does anyone know why the Airkix (Milton Keynes, UK) and Colorado tunnels are so superficially different to the Perris, Orlando, and Eloy tunnels?
  7. The QLD one? I wish people would stop mentioning it; it just confuses the issue. If it's not running and not open to skydivers, has the tree fallen in the woods? Who cares. It might as well not exist.
  8. Could you sling 'em all in the back of the Otter when it evacs?
  9. A friend of mine was jumping at the Tokyo Skydiving Club a fortnight ago. Tickets were JPY 6200, which works out to about USD 56. And yeah, he had his own gear with him.
  10. This is UK only, and primarily concerned with large commercial aircraft.
  11. In my very limited experience, the reserve pilot-chute & freebag assembly falls significantly faster than the chopped main.
  12. Ok. If you insist, I'll check out your wife . Congrats on 500!
  13. To the best of my knowledge, they don't. The way the reasoning was explained to me was that if a 140 and a 146 perform nicely, it's extremely unlikely that a 143 will misbehave. However, I do know they're hesitant about going off either the high or low end of the tested scale for a given canopy type, as the effects are not as predictable. Which is why I don't know if they'll produce a Safire2 under 99sqft...
  14. Icarus claim to make a Safire2 in any size you desire. That said, I've never specifically asked them to make a 80sqft canopy... Oh, and the Performance Designs article on wingloading is here.

  19. This is a feature of Google News and it's available to all.
  20. I would've been sixteen or seventeen: Radiohead - The Bends Leftfield - Leftfield. Both spent more than six months in my CD player.
  21. I don't think it's got anything to do with the political party of the current president of the USA. It's got more to do with the fact that he has politicised science in a way that's very reminiscent of Europe in the Middle Ages. Only scientists who profess the correct beliefs get appointed to administration-controlled posts. 'Tis a pity, and it's very bad for the long-term future of the USA. /soapbox.
