In that case Gravity Gear and Square 1 should both do you nicely. Both do web sales as well as having bricks-and-mortar stores, and both are in California. Gravity Gear's owner, Bonnie, posts here regularly. Definitely try on the helmet before purchase - everyone's head is a little different and different brands suit different folk. If you've got a particularly small or large head it might be worth waiting to try on the goggles as well.

As pilotdave said, it's a FAR that your AAD must be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. You can get your pilot in all sorts of trouble for jumping with an out-of-date AAD. Airtec have set a 12yr life span on the Cypres because, based on their testing, that's how long that can be certain they'll keep operating correctly. One or two no-fires or mis-fires would massively dent confidence in their product, as well as potentially resulting in fatalities, so Airtec have a powerful incentive to ensure the Cypres works correctly.

If you fill out your profile, we can give you better answers - as it stands I don't even know what country you're in!

It'll get you to the dz, so leave it alone and go jump. /not a gearhead.

Standard packer etiquette, at least here in Oz: - lay rig out - set brakes - uncollapse slider - cock pilotchute. It saves the packer's time (handy when they've five rigs on a 20min call), and, not coincidentally, solves many problems that could result in a cutaway or serious injury.

Yup. I also only shave right after a shower. I find King of Shaves gel to be excellent.

You did read the parts where he twice specifically said he'd no interest in downsizing, and was just asking out of curiosity, right?

Jameson & Tullamore Dew are probably the two whiskies easiest to find. Baileys is popular with the ladies. Irish Mist is another one similar.
-
That's a trick I'd like to see. Research viniculture & the Irish climate to find out why... Get mead instead.

Nope . If you click on Start | Programs, you only see the more-recently-used of the programs you've installed. You have to click on the double-down-arrow to see them all.

Whee. Welcome to the world of NT4. NT4 doesn't play particularly well with either soundcards or with ISA PnP network cards. Four years ago I could've probably answered your question, but I don't remember any of that stuff now. To be honest, you're just going to make life harder & harder for yourself by sticking with NT4. It's possible to make XP look similar to NT4, though the auto-hiding of programs in the Start Menu used to really annoy me too, but now I just deal with it. NT4 is like jumping a Vector I. It's ok for certain very specific things (RW), but if you want to do any of the cool new stuff, you need to spend lots of time & money upgrading it to a product that's still not as good as something more modern (Vector 3).

For cheap n cheerful, it's hard to beat a Gath. But, as Lisa (skybytch) says, try a few different models on - they all vary slightly in their dimensions and some'll fit you better than others...

A high arousal level seems to be common in new jumpers; I know it took me a long time to calm down. The right time to calm down is as soon as you start winding yourself up - and that's normally on the ground or in the plane. Sort it out there, and freefall will go much more smoothly. Two things that worked for me: Breathing. In the plane, breathe slowly and deeply. Notice your breathing. This is much like meditation - it slows your heartrate and calms you down. Smile. Even if you have to force it, smile. Smiling triggers physiological effects that relax you. I use both all the time in the plane when doing 4-way. I know of one instructor that, when doing 2-way RW jumps, will refuse to key the second point until the student smiles at him. Works wonders. If, in freefall, you find yourself rushing, stop, breathe, and then continue. These are all techniques that work for me. Discuss them with your instructors before applying them yourself.

What is the AVERAGE WL of people on 1st gear at your DZ

Here's your answer, according to John LeBlanc of Performance Designs. Read & re-read this, as it contains a large amount of useful info. -
In the foreground of your Registration picture are two Aussies - Gary ('Nemo') and Sas, from Airtite the current Aussie 4-way champs. Once the beer light is on, ask Sas to show you the trick he does with packing weights. You'll never forget it.

The boogie is in Dublin, Georgia, USA. Not Dublin, Ireland. -
Completely off topic, but the European Economic Community no longer exists. It's now the European Union, a name that reflects its wider goals. There is, however, a European Economic Area which includes all the EU members, plus Norway, Iceland, and Lichtenstein. It allows access to the internal EU market, without all the extra bits and pieces that come with full EU membership.

Will there be broken rubber bands all over the floor? -
No worries. I'm sure someone with firsthand knowledge will chime in about the effects or otherwise of the seepage on the container & reserve.

..and more British soldiers killed. The IRA rather effectively used a couple of Barretts for many years in Northern Ireland.

But you make it up in volume, right? Groan . Move to Hawaii.

I thought you, like me, lived in Australia? Neither of us are qualified to speak on the effectiveness or otherwise of USPA. They operate in a significantly more litigious environment, without the legal mandate the APF has from CASA (~=FAA), and have persuasion as their primary means of enforcement. Not an easy environment in which to operate, and I wouldn't be so quick to judge those that work in it.
