It's the rainy season and officially Too Fucking Hot at Toogoolawah at the moment. Now's the time to visit places like Nagambie 'coz it's currently what passes for summer there. Sydney does seem to be having a weird weather time at the moment; it's not normally like this here. I'm assuming it's your gf that's posted in Events & Places To Jump. Read my reply there. Oh, and Perth has a number of DZs. York operates a Caravan and apparently has wonderful facilities.

No worries

The biggest sport DZ in Victoria is Nagambie. They operate a 750XL. There's bunkhouses on the dz & I'm pretty sure camping is allowed. Really nice people. It's about an hour outside Melbourne. There's a train and bus service to the nearby town, also called Nagambie, and I'm pretty sure they'll pick you up from the station. Call or email for more. There are other DZs in Victoria, but Nagambie is the only one I'm familiar with. By the way, going to Victoria to avoid rain is like going to Wales to avoid sheep .

Glad you liked it. It's probably my favourite joke, and one of the few I remember.

I know at least one that does. Or, at least, he has a parachute with him in the Otter; I don't know if he actually wears it while flying. A loss of aircraft control is a very nice way of saying the airplane had no tail left. And despite the fact that the pilot was wearing a bailout rig, by the time he managed to get out he was under a grand.

Or you could make sure you don't speed in a built-up area.

Standard prices at Ramblers are AUD 38.50 to 14k (ouch!). Dunno if there'll be boogie discounts. Mailing skydive@ramblers.com.au will get you a prompt response to your queries; they've got a very efficient office. I've not heard a bad word said about 'nox, and I'll definitely be there this year...

It can be fun and serious here, but remember that Australia has a very small skydiving population - there's only a handful of teams training seriously in any given year. That said, at Picton we have year-round jumping, four turbine aircraft, and a DZ Manager that's been to five or six World Meets in 4s and 8s. All we need to make it perfect is a tunnel...

Thanks. By the way, mark is not marks. Two easy ways to tell: mark can spell, and marks is too cheap to fork out for Premier Membership .

It's a mechanically-operated AAD, only really used on student rigs these days. It's got quite a high variation in operation range, making it unsuitable for most sport jumpers. This is assuming it's an FXC12000. Use the Search Posts link near the top of the page; there's a lot of info in the forum archives.

Congratulations! If you have to get up in the morning for work, might I recommend earplugs? It's the only chance you got...

To give some context to people's replies, here's the thoughts of Performance Designs on wingloading and its effects.

Not really, I'm afraid...

I honestly have no idea. Their website is http://www.tandemskydiving.com.au/.

For big events like the dz.com boogies and the RoamingDZ.com Dublin boogie, threads get created where 99% of the content is people updating, correcting, and generally messing around with lists of attendees. It'd be nice if you could create a poll-like thread, where you could click a button marked "I'm [not] going". Then any actual info in the thread wouldn't be lost in the clutter of list updates.

Actually, I didn't think it was all that great. Sorry. If you have to read the About page to figure out the intention of a spoof, I don't think it's all that good.

Put me down for 300. I was always a dirty low-down kinda guy.

That said, they don't have an online rig designer. Which is what jtval was asking for in the first place...

I found the http://www.rmwjumpsuits.com/ colour picker/suit designer to be very handy when I designed my suit. edit: I have two RMW suits - one comp RW and one FF, and they're both excellently made. As a bonus, the care label says "Warning: May Contain Nut" .

I'll agree with all that. Our camera had previously competed in 4-way, was dedicated, always had footage available when we needed it, was always on time, and looked out for us. For example, if one of us was running late, he'd finish packing our rig so we'd have a chance to eat & rehydrate before getting back on the creeper. Couldn't ask for better.

The entire Airspeed Notebook, including the debriefing article, is available online.

So, should we tell her that "Bill name removed because of weirdos" says hi? . And yeah, Clare is damn cool.
