    An appropriate back-issue of Parachutist would be excellent prior art to defeat this patent application. It's published, dated, and there's no question of its provenance. The USPTO have a history of allowing shitty patents. I'd strongly advise anyone present in the US to lodge an objection (it's free if you do it before the patent is issued*). If cobaltdan could provide the reference #, I'd be happy to help with prep of the objection. * well, it was last time I checked.

    Stable and reliable beats bleeding-edge fast. When rendering you'll be running your CPU at 100% for extended periods of time, and having to redo a three hour render 'cause your PC overheated/crashed/whatever 2.5hrs in gets old, quickly.

    Japan is consitutionally unable to have an army (it's a Self-Defence Force), or to engage in offensive activities. It was the USA that forced this into the Japanese constitution after WWII. Understandably, in my opinion. However, the flip side of this was that they needed protection. After all, most of their near neighbours didn't like them very much after the excesses of the Greater East-Asian Co-Prosperity Sphere. If you don't like it, give up Okinawa. You can't have your cake and eat it .

    Australia requires membership too, though I think that's because by law to jump in Australia you must be a member of a CASA (~= CAA, FAA) approved organisation.

    For competition, I believe jump run is usually between 85 & 95kts.

    With the judicious use of a packing hook to hang the canopy and a mat to squeeze the air out, you should have no problems a canopy of any size. How do you think tandem mains get packed? We don't have to hire secret hit-squads of 8ft tall NBA rejects just because the canopies are bigger .
