You know, your post is one of the very very few where people get the Student vs. Expert Cypres firing speeds correct. Well done

Good luck arguing "well I didn't think that employee of the manufacturer knew what they were on about, so I ignored them". For the record, I didn't read any implications about other containers on the market - the thread title contains "Javelin", doesn't it? wsinsel called Sunpath and they told him that removing the factory-installed RSL was an alteration. Ergo, it's an alteration. Where's the grey area? Is there something I'm completely missing?

whuffo - why fo' you jump outta dem airplanes - why do you jump out of perfectly good airplanes?

That's seems* like an excellent post. One minor pedantic quibble: Velocity is defined as speed + direction. * I'm a turbine brat.

Do you have a surname or description?

Sydney/picton: someone have the basic info?
bob.dino replied to ljwobker's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Not as yet. Depends on the amount of other people there... if there's enough fun jumpers or tandems on, the plane(s) will run all day. Last time I went out on a Friday, there was jumping from 8am to about 3-4pm. Drop the office a line closer to the date & ask. There's plenty of folk meeting that description at the DZ & there's usually an organiser or two around at weekends. Join the skarsy email group & ask there closer to the date. 1- $37 10- $32 ea 100- $29 ea There are pretty skanky bunkhouses on the DZ, but they work fine for me. The nearest off-DZ accomodation is in Picton itself - about 10km away. The George has motel-style rooms for AUD $50. They also do good food and brew their own beer -
What do you doubt? That Sunpath said it was an alteration, or that wsinsel called them?

I was just about to suggest you chill out a little. Good to see you realise your fuse is a little on the short side when it comes to things like this; it could save you problems in the future. My take: She made a couple of mistakes with money. She's not used to having money be a item of consequence. Now she realises that it is and has apologised and corrected her mistake. If you want to reinforce her good behaviour, thank her for sorting things out. Maybe buy a bottle of wine, cook dinner, and fuck her senseless*. * just for you, lm.

The best overall is probably DivX. If you want to put it on DVD, use MPEG2 PAL or NTSC. Filesize can usually be adjusted from 5-10Mbps (that's Megabits per sec). WMV is fine if you don't like Macs

It's several years too early. By the time you're ready to jump it, you'll want custom-fitted gear in your own colours. Put the money in a bank account and the interest you'll make in the meantime will be of more use. -
There's one TI on my DZ with somewhere in the region of 8-9000 tandems. And the DZO has 23,000 jumps, but I don't know how many are tandems. Donna Turner has 6400 tandems, which I think might be the most in the world for a female TI.

Yeah, but when you're writing for a commercial desktop environment, you're kinda stuck with Windows. At least for the next 3-5 years. I think we agree. That said, there are some stand-out exceptions; I've always found Bruce Perens to be smart, reasonable, and well worth listening to. Post deleted by bob.dino.

Skydiving for health and fitness?

That's damn good going. Keep it up -
I agree with what you're saying, but I think you're missing my point. So I want to add a cool new feature to Oracle. How do I do that without working for Oracle? I want to make it possible to dynamically load & unload FileSystemFilterDrivers in Windows. How do I do that without working for Microsoft? I want to try a new scheduling algorithm for operating system threads. If Open Source OSes aren't available, I've gotta write an entire OS before I can conduct realistic tests on my funky new algorithm.

The major advantage of open source is that you can add one feature without having to reinvent the entire car. For example, if I come up with a fancy new whizz-bang methodology for grammar correction, I can add it to OpenOffice/AbiWord/etc without having to go through all the other drudge work that's needed to have a useful word processor. Another way of putting it: Open Source dramatically lowers the cost of entry for new ideas.

Congratulations. One minor thing: It's a Vector 3M. An M3 is a BMW sportscar .

But I can be full of Guinness. And that's a trade-off I can live with.
