  1. Nice work! Is that code for "getting pissed at parties"? It's good to see you've all bounced back from the Nats disappointment...
  2. It was well over 85F over the weekend. Didn't help my hangover lying in my tent on Sunday morning though...
  3. Most Aussie DZs don't have a huge amount of rental sports gear. Make sure to ring ahead to make sure something will be available. The ones I know personally: Sydney: Sydney Skydivers @ Picton[/url]. Probably the biggest DZ in Australia. Skyvan, Otter, 750XL, Turbine Beaver. Newcastle/Hunter Valley: NSPC @ Elderslie. Cessna operation and incredibly friendly. Brisbane: Ramblers @ Toogoolawah. Fun-jumper-oriented DZ with a brace of Caravans. Fun place to hang out and jump.
  4. Google adwords can be very useful, and you pay based on how often people click on the ads. Worth looking into.
  5. Here's the relevant info relating to alarms from the manual: WARNING ALARMS Altitude selection interval: 100 ft (25 m) Calibration range: 0 – 9,900 ft (0 – 3,025 m) Accuracy: +/- 100 ft (+/- 33 m) Alarm sounds 1st warning: One 3.8 second pulsating alarm if vertical airspeed exceeds 13 m/sec at the preset altitude. Sound sequence: Pulsating, low repetition. 2nd warning: One 5.0 second pulsating alarm if vertical airspeed exceeds 13 m/sec at the preset altitude. Sound sequence: Pulsating, high repetiton. 3rd warning: Siren alarm as long as vertical airspeed exceeds 29 m/sec. at or below the preset altitude. Sound sequence: High pitch continuous siren. When selecting STU (Student) or SLO (Slow) in Dive Type the siren will continue sounding until the rate of descent under the (fully deployed) canopy is less than 13 m/sec for minimum 6 sec. Then, a new rate of descent to activate the siren is automatically set to 29 m/sec. The only change in STU is that mentioned above - the fact that the rate of descent must be less than 13m/sec for at least 6 sec. There's one additional piece of info related to the SLO mode: A different exit slope parameter is chosen in the software I can't find anything that explains exactly what that means. If you want, PM me your email address and I'll email you a copy of the manual.
  6. Shouldn't have spent all your money on coke mate . It sucks right now; far too many of my friends are injured. You two rest up and get back in the air soon, 'kay?
  7. For a fit healthy breeding female, you'll get at least a dollar these days. Aussie, not US. So, about 72-74 cents. Real money worth having, is that.
  8. Hi RL's daughter! There's a very handy 'Search Posts' link above. Use it wisely .
  9. There's about seven different ways to go with that. But I'm not in a humorous mood today. Maybe someone else wants to run with that ball? It's balls. Plural.
  10. True, normally. However, doesn't Ankie work for PD or RWS?
  11. Use the search posts link above; there have been a couple of threads on this in the past. Short version: In many states neither a minor nor their parents can sign away their right to sue, so people won't take the risk of training you until you're 18. There are, however, some exceptions to this; your searching should turn up some promising leads.
  12. Sounds like the legend of the 100-jump wonder lives on . For the record, when I first started I asked one of the instructors about being a novice. His take was that you're a novice until about 500 jumps, intermediate until at least 1500-2000, and you could potentially be an expert after that...

    Texas Pride

Apropos of nothing, y'know there's a cattle station (=ranch) in Western Australia that's bigger than Texas?
  14. Apostrophe Usage. An oldie but a goodie.
  15. Sounds sensible to me. Either that or when over 50% of your friends are skydivers...
  16. The easiest way to get DV footage onto your machine is using a program like WinDV. It's dead simple and has nothing to do with your nVidia setup. All it cares about is your IEEE1394a connection and your hard disk.
  17. Could you point me in the direction of some background reading on this? /is an engineer, not a physicist
  18. APF - Australian Parachute Federation - Australia BPA - British Parachute Association - United Kingdom/Britain CSPA - Canadian Sport Parachuting Assocation - Canada PAI - Parachuting Association of Ireland - Republic of Ireland USPA - United States Parachute Association - United States I don't know off-hand the acronyms for other associations.
  19. Ah, now I see where you're coming from. However, my reading of that would still equate "any rig" to "any Javelin", given both the context of the overall thread and the prior sentence.
  20. Some of us go to the manufacturer's website and download the manuals. Linkifcation for your edification: Pro-Dytter Pro-Track Cypres & Cpyres 2
