  1. To echo everyone else: if you need weight, you need weight. Wearing weight is not an "I've failed" scenario. People are different weights and shapes - that's just genetics. 2lb weights, starting with 6lb, and working up/down from there are what I'd do.
  2. I was at Perris at the start of August 2005 with a couple of friends. Two hours after jumping finished, 50% of those at the Bombshelter were Aussies . Perris, while great for many things, doesn't seem to have the same community vibe as some other DZs.
  3. I think the APF Safety Poster (pdf) sums it up quite well.
  4. Not in Australia you don't. We don't have fleets of demo canopies here.
  5. Ah, getcha. There are very very few jumpers like that in Australia. Maybe because it's a much smaller community over here? There's also a thing in Aussie culture of not being particularly tolerant of folk that're full of themselves.
  6. Really? I haven't seen that. From where I am, it seems you just need to be relaxed, friendly, and willing to make the effort to get to know people. Oh, and buy your beer. I'm not sure I get you. What line are you referring to?
  7. If they were trying to sell me internet marketing services, I'd laugh them out of town. They're not, they're trying to sell me an electronic device designed for skydiving. Competence, or the lack thereof, in one area doesn't necessarily reflect on their competence in others. For example: Aerodyne have the most god-awful Flash monstrosity of a site, but they still manage to make good skydiving gear.
  8. Can you mix n match Lightnings with CRW Triathlons?
  9. Me neither. I think they're foolish, and probably just being naive. If, however, it's the start of a pattern of behaviour, they'll find themselves without any customers.
  10. Spam = Unsolicited Commercial Email. That means email you don't want. If you sign up with Amazon & request all their email letters, it's not spam. And yes, certain forms of it are illegal in the USA - see the CAN-SPAM act. I'm with apoil on this one.
  11. I promised not to post the pictures. If you want a divorce, then we are divorced, till next 1 1/2 years... Come to Equinox, and we'll provide free relationship counselling around the bar .
  12. Getting old, huh? A belated Happy Birthday to you, sir.
  13. : 3: 0 Three jumps in a 4-way scrambles comp. Silver medal. Good party. Saw the sun come up then got told - politely - to fuck off by the DZO as the AFF students were about to show up.
  14. Toogoolawah is a great dropzone to spend some time hanging out and jumping. Lots of good people and good fun. Decent facilities & the food is nice. Not a tandem factory. Not as hectic as somewhere like Picton - things don't start quite as early, and during the summer months, afternoon thunderstorms are common. Recommended.
  15. Newsgroup. Alt.Sex.Stories.Bondage? Or Binary? Can't remember, it's been a while & I'm not going looking on a work computer.
  16. That'd be nice for those of us outside the USA.
  17. I've done about 400-450 jumps with my Z1. The first 3 or 4 times I opened the visor under canopy I fumbled a bit, but now it's automatic; it takes no more than a second. Don't practice with a mirror - you won't have one under canopy! It's a feel thing. My Z1 has never misted up on me, but I don't close the visor until a couple of seconds before exit. The liner comes out nicely for washing, and the IAS version makes dealing with my Pro-Track a breeze. All in all, no complaints. I'd happily buy another one. I've no experience with the Mamba, but all the yanks here on dz.com seem to love it. Try both on & see what kind of peripheral visibility you get. Can you see your handles with both?
  18. Careful dude, BASE jumping is dangerous. It could put you in a wheelchair. .
  19. Christ. You'd be dead from heat exhaustion within the hour...
  20. That he has an obligation to ensure that sentences are in line with those previously handed out for the crime? If he handed down, say, a 20 year sentence, it'd just be reduced on appeal because it was out of line with the norms for that crime. If you feel the need to rant and threaten someone, aim your vitriol at those that drafted the sentencing guidelines.
