oh forgot this one Des, 5 jumpers in a 182? Not at my zone (I also fly the 182) hot day and 3 good sized jumpers and me, that's it! Of course, it's only a 1,700 foot grass strip. Maybe with a longer runway or the 300 HP and extended wings and leading edge cuffs STC, five would work, but for Christs sake, we would be packed in their like sardines! No farting please!!!

hey Des, you're kinda cooking the books there aren't ya! The local AFF zone here has a Caravan chock full of tandems and AFF dents, they make a fortune on every run to altitude. As for the DENTS costs for getting a license, SL is much cheaper, but then you can probably crunch the numbers whichever way you please. $150 an hour for a 182?!? I maintain Caravans for a large overnight airfreight company here in Portland and we're one of the higher priced contractors, a Caravan (208B) is about $250 and hour. Figures don't lie, but liars figure.....go figure....lol! Mike

Static line where I learned jumping is $140 for FJC. $45 a jump till cleared off student status, then $15 for gear rental plus $ for altitude. Maybe 40 jumps for the price of the local AFF 7 jump program?!? Much more reasonable and hey, we're not scared to get out at 3 grand either! Mike

hey Sis, you should probably bag all that southern right coast stuff and head up here to the beautiful pacific northwest. 3 DZ's around Portland and I think there's some schools around here to! My home DZ needs some more wild and crazy young ladies :) Mike

Relax. Hard arch and keep an eye on the airplane! My first FF (SL course) as soon as I let go of the strut, I rolled up in a ball, grabbed that friggin ripcord and pulled at maybe 2 seconds. Then I was left wondering why I was watching the canopy deploy below my feet!!! Hard arch and stick to your count, you will do fine. Mike

No to seem derogatory, but as soon as the empannage left that airplane, it was no longer in control at all. As a pilot and aircraft mechanic, I know that this is true. With the loss of that weight and the vertical stabilizer, it was all over then. From reading the DZ.com article, seems the pilot was very hesitant to get out at all. Glad that he did and sorry for the jumper in the wind.

Sorry to hear about this jumper going in. I did a post about a month ago about a guy with 45 jumps, unstable, spinning, tumbling until his AAD fired at about 800 feet. Think the term at my home DZ is brain lock for not pulling.

you might try Alaska and Horizon airlines. Horizon serves Kalispell I think and that is a lot closer than GEG. If interested, you might want to contact me. Fly to Portland and we can split the gas money for my motorhome to the boogie, then again witht the price of gas, might be cheaper to charter a Learjet direct! Mike

The grim reaper in the white house? Give me a break! Just because Bush was gov of Texas and Texas executes more people than other states, he didn't sentence all that scum to death, the courts did. As for old Timothy, he admitted he did it and the part about the "collateral damage" i.e. children really sucks. He should be strapped to a chair and about a quarter pound of C4 administered instead of an injection! Not to change the subject, but it's a beautiful day, I'm leaving work and heading to Mollala for some jumps, later.

You know what they call it after 2 days of rain in the NW? MONDAY!!! Shit, it was sunny and very warm all week, weekend is here, rainy and cold!!!
