Actually, it does show it in the manual - but it's a little weird. See the page that tdog posted - it's page 53 of the PDF version of the V3 manual. The weird part is, that it shows stowing the excess a few pages earlier without putting it through the pin. But on the posted page, it shows the excess through the pin. I've been stowing my excess through the pin since I've had my V3 (about 2 months now), and they've always released fine. I'd be interested in hearing other people's experiences.

I don't tack my slinks. when I install them, I give them an initial 'set'. (read: a few hard tugs and a squeeze). A couple jumps sets them fully. I've never had problems with them shifting position after that. I'm ofen changing canopies, or containers, or sliders, etc. so tacking down every time would probably end up doing more harm than good. As long as the tab stays put, I see no problems with this. Aerodyne soft links, on the other hand, I tacked asap!

TITAN heads up display altimeter
MrBrant replied to voodew1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As far as I know, the project is still alive and well. (although restructured). You can probably get an answer straight from the horse's mouth at Alti-2's forums. forum.altimaster.com -
Removable slider - opening differences
MrBrant replied to MrBrant's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Why, thank-you! The 2 channels along the leading/trailing edge are the excess cable keepers. (It was easier to just do one long channel down the length of it, as opposed to creating 4 separate ones. The grommets were banged into some layers of webbing. (reserve bridal folded over a couple times.) pics are attached. So - what I'm gathering from the majority of people is that the openings tend to slow down. Might have to start experimenting on how to speed up the openings. I wonder how my airlocked canopy will like the reserve-style exposed nose vagina thing. -
I hear there's a new dropzone opening up in Didsbury this weekend

Removable slider - opening differences
MrBrant replied to MrBrant's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
hey guys - thanks for the feedback. yes - I have unfortunately been experiencing slower openings. It seems that as soon as the canopy is out of the bag, the slider inflates fully (big and wide), and remains at the slider stops for 1-2 seconds, before descending. It does get a little spinny during these slower openings. It could well be body position - I may just have to become more attune to it. I also seem to get collapsed endcells. (often times, only one - which seems to start a spin too). Once it starts to descend, it seems to work great - no hangup issues. On the few 8+ second delays I've taken, it seems to work much better. My friendly neighborhood master rigger and I built the slider. The dimensions are the same as the stock slider (Samurai 170). I was just wondering if this is isolated to my setup, or if it was a common occurrence with the "X" style cable routing or something. -
Removable slider - opening differences
MrBrant replied to MrBrant's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
For you guys jumping removable sliders - have you guys noticed any differences in the openings? Specifically 2-6 second sub-terminal? Since I put mine one, a few small issues seem to have come up - especially on shorter delays. (I haven't taken it to terminal yet) Thanks, Brant -
Holy crap that's a big hole!! What are you drilling that's half a foot?????

It's 16km (10 miles) to my job interview today. Should I drive or bike?
MrBrant replied to grue's topic in The Bonfire
Depending on the job - I suggest driving. Some places might want to see that you have access to reliable transportation. -
i usually just land on the edge of the taxi-way in the spring. concrete is usually dry

MrBrant replied to Croc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

Ah - that makes more sense. And all this time, I thought he was just British.

pffft. Only pussies don't do night jumps for fear of landing in the woods! Real men double the size of their canopies to expidite the process
-
no, he landed off the DZ on the SECOND-last load on Saturday. Andy (the other one) and I landed off on the LAST load. (and with more style!). Shimmel and Vince even got to ride ATV's to come find us. (after I wandered the trails in the wrong directions for about an hour or so)
-
I'll see ya there this weekend! flight leaves tomorrow afternoon. I'll probably get to the DZ around 10 pm on Friday. Hey, anybody know of a liquor store on the way to the Farm, comming from ATL airport???? A night at a dropzone without spiced rum is just WRONG!
-
Yup, I'll be there this weekend and next. Looking forward to seeing everybody again! Maybe this time we'll actually be moving forward on jump run!
