Why pack? It's a waste of time Brittany Unpacked BASE #?

Yo, first read this in the BASE zone, but drinking a beer and chatting it up in the bonfire sounds better. Take it easy. Myself, one base jump at BD ('02) after 500 skydives. Waited a year to make another. Then I got into it. Amanduh for example, did a couple, enjoyed it, and like me, is waiting wisely. There's nothing wrong with experiencing the thrill. But if you're going to get into it fo real, then it becomes what everyone else in this thread is warning you about. Skydive skydive skydive. There's much to learn in all that air up there. And my personal advice, when you do decide to base, don't stop skydiving. It may save your life in keeping up with current basic skills. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

While I agree with you Sid, you gotta think about styley points here... remember, fashion first! I'd say freefly handle is the best option, for weight and practicality purposes. But if you're going to go with a hackey (which has been jumped over 1000x on my rig w/o a problem) go with a regular one and not a monkey fist. The monkey fists are heavier. Mine's just filled with cotton-like stuffing... don't ask me how I know. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

I can imagine! What consequence when the little ball doesn't go in the hole... another shot! Wow. What a price to pay! It's a bit like when a swoop goes wrong. You get another try - if you're a Buddhist - in your next life. Golfers are not "athletes" even by the futherest stretch of that term. from Oxford... "Athlete" - Person who is good at Athletics. "Athletic" - Muscular and physically active. "Athletics" - Sport, esp running and jumping. t You have GOT to be kidding... Have you not seen how ripped Tiger is physically? And how far he can crush that little white ball? The average Joe golfer cannot even drive 75% of his distance. He is also the best putter on tour (besides Phil Mickelson). I'm sorry, but I've played sports all my life. Golf is the most mentally draining, requires the most focus, and is a high amount of stress. Lug your clubs around the course all day... I have many times in over 100 degree temperatures. Then, as true athletes, don't stop there. Can't forget a warm-up at the range and if the round goes bad, back to the range again. As Larry Bird shot 500 free throws and made them before he went off to school for the day, Tiger (and can't forget Vijay Singh) has hit golf balls from sun up to sun down. Even during a major tournament he has been known to go to the driving range until he could not hit anymore to tweak out a problem. There is truly an obvious difference b/w an 'athletic' swing and one that is haywire. To be a good golfer, one has to be a good athlete. This is the case 99% of the time. PS- I 'swoop' too, but I'll tell ya what, golf has a lot more aspects to the game than executing a good swoop. In terms of hand/eye coordination, mental focus, and attentional span. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

I told her she is now an honorary Houston BASE Babe. Now I'm just trying to decide if I put her in the "Baby Oil" month or the "Lathery Soap Suds" month.... Jen is a lathery soap sud... remember plane washing is still in order Shannon, you should take the oil slot. I'll try and put pilot chute dress pics up tomorrow. That should go in the October month for halloween _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Just had to reply to my own thread and say this job rocks! Taught my first class today and can't help but think, I get paid for this??? Hah, working out and surfing dz.com are my primary jobs. Totally tubular. Plus I get to hang out with personal trainers all afternoon and am already learning new tips, tricks, and techniques... which has consequently left my abs with an intense burning soreness and I love it. Oh, and its window washing day. No kidding... until it started raining. Poo. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Help:Girl wants to play with the boys
brits17 replied to Beverly's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
This is true. As of right now, I'm on a VX60 loaded 2.0:1. I'm 120 out the door. Competing in the cpc this year has taught me so much, and has been the most beneficial learning experience yet... not to mention so much fun! But I have been wondering... while a killer swoop for me is 250 feet, it doesn't compare to the guys loading 2.3:1 and jumping a 103 velo. Granted, I'm one of the least experienced competitors in the field, plus am new at rear riser usage (so I don't use them in comp rounds yet) but it still seems to make a slight difference when observing similar flight patterns and landing technique with those using a larger, similar loaded wing. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
