  1. On behalf of all the common people : WTF is a sub-fusc? If it refers to the interesting way Remi has of attaching his wife's strap-on to himself then please don't bother. (and I always thought he waddled because he was French and fat.... ) Hmmm, telling Remi to 'go sub-fusc' himself has a certain ring to it....
  2. DW (feedback here), JJ and one other experienced jumper (over 500 jumps) all recommended that I get the 5th brake line on my Fox (V tec no covers). Would the current thinking down under be to rather get covers to improve the flare (while still providing sinking ability)? I didn't want to change more than one thing at a time on my canopy and opted for the 5th line mod first (after asking around).
  3. The part of the book that really got my attention was how much of a role Constantine (a non Christian) played in the history of Christianity in the interests of uniting his empire. Be interesting to read up a bit more on that. The book mentions that 5 million women were killed by the church over a period of 300 years, some simply because they were midwives. Does anyone know if this is true? Regarding the book itself, it did drag on a bit and had a twist (or five) too many. When you consider how much was supposed to happen in the space of only one night it is beyond implausible. Obviously the author was counting on controversy to help sell the book (looks like it worked). The romantic angle between the two main characters was also way too obvious and contrived. I found the religious references more interesting than the story itself. Judging by the reactions published by the religious types looks like there might be some truth to it. But at least the book has got people talking and thinking. Hopefully nobody is insecure enough to think their religion is being undermined by it. Will
  4. Why were you taking part in an accuracy competition on your second BASE jump (in shitty conditions)? Maybe this article should be recommended reading for FJCs : Risk assessment in BASE by Ken Miller
  5. Do you have a second car to use for BASE that isn't covered in cute stickers?
  6. Hey Betsy, I worked very hard to achieve ass-hole status at dropzones all over the world - don't go spoil it for me now. I haven't skydived since I left Eloy, my next skydive will be when I get back to Eloy - damn I miss that place! Thanks again for the extra little goodies you sent me. There were lots of little extra things that got done by you during the holiday boogie that I bet most people didn't even notice. But I guess that is part of the secret to a professionally run event. Take care. Will
  7. Yes, but do you have room for Noddy and Big Ears?
  8. But I bet her friend Lynne's ass is as big as always! You'd think Pammi would have better taste when she chose her lesbian lover... Wife stealing rat bastard number ONE reporting for duty.
  9. Pic of Boel here. The blonde hair doesn't narrow it down much with the scandinavians, but Boel is a member of the Swedish national freefly team, very talented freeflyer (which is why I thought it might be her). I'll check with Bonnie, she knows what's what with the Svenskas. Will
  10. Whats wrong with these guys? Aren't they as 'funny' and 'nice' and 'cool' as the other kids in the playground? BTW is 41Stinger Boel Janerus from Sweden?
  11. I wouldn't trust my reserve repack with a rigger who did as little as two reserve repacks a year. If you only planned to do two solo skydives a year is that current and safe? If you want to learn more about reserves why not ask a rigger if you can watch him/her repack a couple? Then if you are still interested you could look into getting your ticket with time.
  12. And they'll keep asking until someone (anyone ) gives them the answer they were looking for. It doesn't take much for them to feel vindicated either. Not be be ageist or sexist here, but it does often appear to be young men most at fault (like myself one bad spot and a couple of bad landings ago... ).
  13. Understanding the sky by Dennis Pagen. This book is written by a paraglider pilot, but is of real use to all parachutists. If you want to know why canopies behave the way they do in different conditions read this book. It will help you evaluate the weather and then make decisions on whether or not to jump. Getting in the plane is easy, walking away from the plane isn't. If you read the incidents forum you will see lots of injuries caused by people jumping in dodgy conditions, IMHO reading this book will help you understand local effects on canopies. I highly recommend this book (thanks JJ for telling me about it). Will
  14. Hey Drew, He was part of the 357 way record set recently in Thailand. You can find his name in this list. I only knew about it because Ryan from Flitesuit mentioned Charles ringing him to ask for an RW suit which he thought was unusual. To have been part of a 357 way formation and a 42 way freefly formation just totally rocks jaw. Charles rocks. I met him in Sweden 2 years ago, totally chilled out guy - does the business without having to talk himself up. Will
  15. That is awesome! I reckon Charles Bryan should get a special mention - he was in both world records (flat and freeflying). A very impressive achievement. That list of 42 jumpers is a real who's who of freeflying talent, would be interesting to know the combined jump number total (probably well over 200 000). Congratulations to everyone involved.
  16. Sooner or later you're going to have to take that cap off and she'll see the lobotomy scar... JK, congrats to both of you. I've been giving Chris shit for years now, am happy that he is marrying someone that makes him happy. Chris, one day I'd like to jump out of a plane you are flying (God knows I'm not landing in one you are flying! ). Will
  17. Not true, I must've picked up at least 15 pounds over the winter...
  18. That is quite some milestone. Congratulations and I'm glad you enjoyed the dive.
  19. Yes, but are the lines of a dagger '266 the same length as a fox '265? How about the aspect ratio? Did you try emailing Todd about this, I've found the BR people very prompt and helpful with feedback for questions. (I'm sure the other manufacturers are too, I've only dealt with BR so far) Will
  20. I don't know about other audibles, but you could probably put an L+B plastic mount inside the neoprene pocket. Then use little cable ties to secure the plastic mount to the helmet. The neoprene pocket would then provide secondary protection. This is what I did with my older style Bonehead. Personally I'd still prefer my audibles mounted internally. Will
  21. You call that not biting?? I disagree with what you posted. I didn't learn to skydive in the UK, I've jumped elsewhere (California, Florida, Arizona, Sweden, Holland, Germany and South Africa) and I don't think it is fair to say that freeflyers in the UK aren't genuinely interested in improving their skills. Sure the weather and jump ticket prices here aren't favourable (which is why we jump abroad so much) but the freefly scene in the UK is not that bad. You have the Euphoria guys from Nethers, Floydy and Fordy at Weston, Dan Parker, Rob Simpson and Co. at Hib, Giles Fabris and the Meacocks at Sibson, Steve Newman at Langar - there are plenty of people with a genuine interest who want to help people to learn to fly better. And there are plenty of local freeflyers with a genuine interest in wanting to learn to fly better. You've got a pretty blunt abrasive way of trying to make your point - I think you are wrong about the UK freefly scene (FWIW I've jumped at 6 local dropzones so far). Will
  22. Taken from their ad : Something to be aware of - Bonehead tried this on the Mindwarp helmet, too many people (like myself) lost audibles to riser slap so the new Mindwarp has internal audible compartments. I believe most helmet manufacturers favour internal audible compartments for the same reason. Will
  23. The population of the world is constantly growing, all those people need to live somewhere and a lot will live in newly-built high rise apartment blocks (which require cranes to construct). The more people there are in the world the more water towers, Antennae, hotels etc are needed. The number of fixed objects in the world is not fixed. There is a lot of sharing involved, if a newer jumper (like myself) finds and opens a new object and shares it with the experienced guys they will probably be willing to share some of their established objects with you. It is a matter of trust and there are no shortcuts to earning it. At the very least on bad weather weekends go check out potential objects. If possible (and you have one) take video. Show the video to experienced guys. They will appreciate the groundwork and you will learn a lot about site assessment and evaluation. I think maybe the experienced guys are more concerned with the type of person getting into BASE rather than the number. Firstly they don't want people getting hurt or dying. Secondly they don't want the publicity and possible stricter legislation that people getting hurt and dying brings to the sport. Will
  24. Not too good, my nights are just too busy.
