Why are pics saving as Bitmaps and not JPGs for me?
skreamer replied to peacefuljeffrey's topic in The Bonfire
LMFAO I owe you a beer for that one. -
I think that right wing fundamentalist you currently have as president is lacking in 'strategery'. He is bad news for the rest of the world. Not that that seems to bother a lot of Americans. Will

Dunno about the time of day, but definitely before 6pm. Not very wise to ask people to keep things like this quiet (as mentioned, bust risk to other jumpers). I know one of the people involved and expected better. Will

It seems like you are on good terms with your DZO, why don't you get a weekend job packing at the DZ? Offer to pack the DZ's student gear, most packers would rather pack for experienced jumpers anyway. Packing big F111 canopies will give you good experience and confidence for BASE. Use the money you earn to do the right skydives (ie getting canopy time on big F111 canopies practicing CR's drills etc). If you can't afford to skydive right now, what makes you think you can afford to BASE jump? Also, naming someone on the internet (if only by BASE nr) for not replying to your requests to GC is poor form. Looks like he made the right judgement call. You do yourself (a low-timer in skydiving) no favours posting stuff like that on the internet. Good luck with the packing job at the DZ!

Ax or chain-saw?

Sure, but this only comes if you are out there jumping regularly (and yes, not limiting yourself to one object). I believe currency is important. By your reasoning someone who jumps rarely but jumps hard-core objects is experienced. Personaly the guys I look up to and turn to for advice are the ones who jump whatever they can get. They do the easier jumps regularly, but they don't shy away from more challenging jumps. I watched the guys who had loads of 4 to 5 second slider up experience (from UK's most jumped object) in Switzerland. They were kicking ass there because they had done so many of the 'easy' jumps in the UK. I think the more 'easy' jumps I do now the more confidence I have when I do the more challenging jumps. I agree that jump numbers are not everything, but they are important. And I do also agree with you that the types of jump made is also important. Maybe if you weren't so allergic to sliders and static lines you might feel different about a lot of objects. Will

I appreciate and respect the fact that he has a low BASE number and started 'back in the day', but how many jumps does he have in total? To me a veteran is someone who has not only jumped for a long time, but also jumped regularly in that time. Will

That was exactly the same ratio of students to instructor (4:1) we had on my BR FJC. I know a guy who did Johnny's FJC. I was there when he did his first jump back in the UK, he was rock solid. He only had good things to say about the course. People who bitch about $1 000 for a FJC are probably in for a bit of a shock further down the line. (and unfortunately the price you pay isn't always financial). FJCs are just about the only bargain in BASE. Some days are a bouncer that won't let you in and some just fuck you up. Will

That is OK, Adrian and Clay are safe. Remi on the other hand/hoof.... -
I wonder if the native Americans thought something similar when the white settlers kept showing up in bigger and bigger numbers? I'm asking this in general because it just seems to me that when the illegal immigrants are white nobody seems to mind as much.

So does he get a go with your shotgun then?

Dude, in Ivan's case binge drinking consists of two girly half pint Foster's shandies...

I've placed my order, will be collecting my pants/jacket at Eloy. Can't wait. I don't fancy hiking in a ZP sweatsuit, will it fit comfortably over regular clothes when gearing up at the exit point? Robi, do you guys allow for this or should people order for a slightly looser fit? Will

Can you name folks in this pic? (blast from the past)

Looking forward to catching up with you at Eloy. Would you like a free packjob? -

Holy shit, you just wrote an entire sentence in real English! BTW he yelled 'IT'S REMSTER!!' not 'IT'S ALIVE'. (can't believe I'm wasting time on this crappy dial-up connection in Cape Town abusing you, but then again it does give it a whole new flavour). How about I pay you $1 MILLION CANADIAN DOLLARS not to go to the holiday boogie? (but I will be expecting change from my $10US!). -
Hibaldstow. The best isn't close, but what is close isn't close to best.

Why do I have to put up with Remi's shit when this isn't even the Canadian Invasion? Is it even legal for him to be at the DZ during the holiday boogie? Please have him banned, the planes will smell better and the desert critters might get some sleep. -
Be sure to pack sunscreen, I've heard elephants with sunburnt ears aren't much fun to be around...

Taken from that post : JJ or the dog?

I was lucky enough to see something similar to that photo for myself at Easter. Duane was jumping off the yellow face just before me. As he exited he did a barrel roll and geeked the scared newbie (me) who was waiting to jump.

I think I can now see where I've been going wrong on all my dates... Back on topic : like Mac, I had to pay about $1 000 just to get to TF for a FJC. Couldn't afford car-hire so was walking from Motel 6 (eating breakfast at the Shilo. ). One year later I'm still in debt but am ordering a second BASE rig anyway. I think the only time you are really going to get sympathy from BASE jumpers regarding money is when it concerns medical bills. Tell you what, pay the money for the FJC and if you truthfully feel afterwards that it wasn't worth it (even if you do just one jump) then I will refund you the full amount. All I'll require from you is video taken just after you have landed saying that what you just did was not worth $1 200. ** Will ** You would be tied for fifth in my list of creditors so I'd probably have to write you into my will.
