Not at all. My views are constantly changing as days go by and new information comes in. How I felt on a subject last week my be completely different the next. Someone on this board may have openned my eyes to a different view. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Does the name Dan Metrione ring any bells? http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Blum/Uruguay_KH.html The man wrote the book on torture and loved doing it. The man was a monster. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -

http://www.huppi.com/kangaroo/CIAtimeline.html Oh, there is more than this. One only needs to do a small bit of research to see what the CIA has done to start wars, to create death squads and to install dictators that will be puppets for the federal government. You seem to believe that the feds are nice people looking out for our well being. Oh, and don't call me a bitch. I didn't call you a name. Show me the same respect. Better to teach kids that alcohol is a waste of their time. Drunk people are not reponsible people. I'd rather see a generation that will completely boycott alcohol. It is sad that alcohol is viewed as the fun thing to do. All of the "cool" and "beautiful" people drink. Just look at how wonderful their lives are. What a load of crap and lies. Alcohol is responsible for a huge number of illness, deaths, divorces, murder, crimes of all types, wife beatings, rapes, child beatings, car accidents, fights, depression, sucide. The list is way to long. Yet, alcohol is viewed as a great thing. Why waste your time drinking something that is only going to make you feel like shit the next day? As for 18yo's going to war and not being able to buy beer? Should an 18yo be able to buy tobacco? As it is now, one must be 21 to buy tobacco. How about we just stop sending 18yo's off to wars? I propose that one must be 21 before they can go to war. But then that would seriously hurt the bodybag industry. Well, before the U.S. decided to invade and show off its latest weapons to prove that the U.S. can still kill a huge number of people without remorse, Iraqis had water, electricity, schools, universities, hospitals, fuel, food, medicine, no car bombings, children playing outside. Pretty much the same as here in the U.S.. Sure, Saddam was not the nicest guy but, when you compare him to what our own secret police do, there is not much difference. Hell, the U.S. supplied him with much of what he needed to do what he did. At that time the U.S. did nothing and said nothing. Only now, as a way to instill fear, does the U.S. harp on what he did. Face the facts. With 80% of Iraqis wishing that the U.S. would go away and never come back it's easy to see that the true criminal in this is the very administration that illegaly attacked and killed thousands based on a lie that was engineered to instill fear in Americans. Iraq is a bloody sandbox created by war loving neo-cons bent on killing everyone who is not an American. They are far worst than Saddam ever was. I could call you either of those but would most likely be banned for spreading a rumor of you being a genius. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Must be the blinders. Helps to filter out that bothersome reality thing. All good conservatives are required to wear them. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

I've said for years that the only way that SS can be fixed is to make Congress use it like the rest of us, instead of the pension they qualify for after a single friggin term... I agree with that. But, I was more speaking of firemen, police officers and such. Most politicians cease being public servants and on to being professional scum (reps and dems and all the rest) as soon as they are elected "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." I completely agree that it should be taken from the hands of the government as they have proven to not be a very good steward of the peoples money. Public employees often have excellent retirement accounts. Possibly, these are the people you are refering to who manage public employee retirement accounts? http://64.78.62.104/ "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Huh? One you can't prevent and one you can. You missed the point. Cancer patients speak openly about their illness and so do I. I see all ilnesses to be the same and not something to be ashamed of. As far as one being something that one can prevent and the other one cannot is what I am saying that people are blind to the reality. One can avoid smoking. One can avoid foods that are linked to cancer. One can work hard to stay healthy and still get a cancer. The same goes for HIV. You can abstain from sex untill marriage and then contract HIV from a cheating spouse. Many have contracted HIV in this manner. There are medical professionals who have contracted from a needle stick. It can happen just that fast. You have no real idea where a potential spouse has been or what they may have done or will do. Life is a card game and you eventually must play the hand that you are dealt. Whether you like it or not. Not one person can say with certianty what will become of them in the near or distant future. I could easily hook myself into the ground swooping my stiletto or I could be paralyzed next week in a car accident. I could easily be killed in any fashion. Or, I could live to be 100 years old. We can try to prevent a catastrophy but, we are not always so vigilant. In just a blink, it all can change. I have been extremely open about my condition as I see it as no different than cancer. I was, however, closed about it in the plant that I last worked in. It was leaked out by someone in management (I had no idea that I could had sued for millions) and quickly my locker was plastered by ignorant remarks wishing me a quick death. Several people refused to work with me. At one point I was put over in an area where no one else worked. They put me on the bandsaw way in back. At first I was pissed about it but then I learned to use it to my advantage. Had I been aware of my legal standing, I'd own a skydive plane today. Back on track. Yes, I willingly revealed my own stutus so as to put a real face on the problem of HIV. Had I not, most would just shrug me off as someone who has no experience. But had I wished to remain private in the matter, the choice to disclose would belong soley to me. I too am guilty of this in the past (before I knew). I had no knowledge, whatsoever, that I could get infected. Many tend to blindly believe that it will never enter their life. I am not a junkie nor am I gay, therefore, I am okay. It was the hardest thing to do to call a list of women to tell them that they may be infected. I use to consider myself to be gods gift to women. I was extremely concieted and extremely sure of myself. With such a frame of mind, many guys are sure that they will never be infected. The same with women. There is only one way to be sure and that is to be tested on a regular basis if you are active. The same with those who are married. Spouses cheat. Many believe that their spouse will always be loyal, yet, it only takes one minute of weakness and the damages is done. It is the reality that many do not want to see. If anyone is sick and tired of me posting this stuff on HIV, get use to it or just simply do not click on the post. I plan on being around for a very long time so you folks are stuck with me. Like it or not "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

My solution is what I had before I got sick. Invest in stock, bonds and a mutal fund. Being fully vested in your 401K is another vehicle that one should persue. I was well on my way to an early retirement untill I had to use the money for medical care. Over $50,000.00 was spent on doctors and lawyers. I am still paying penalties for using that money. To date, I still owe the government $1800.00 in penalties, down from over $6000.00. I have been sued by the government for money that I do not have. All the while I still have to pay for the majority of any healthcare. Money I do not have. Come Sept. I am back on Medicaid (that just riles you, does it not?). Two years ago Gov. Blunt (silver spoon up the ass, piece of shit) threw near everyone off of medicaid. He then set a new poverty level of around $600.00 a month. Anyone making more than that per month was now the new middle class and should pay for their own medical care. Does that tell you anything about how out of touch and uncaring the republican party is. The democratic party in this state fought hard to get sick people back on medical care. It is cheaper and better for society to help the sick than it is to force them deeper into poverty where then society must then deal with the ills that poverty causes. SS and SSDI is a saftey net for many of us. It is not perfect. It is abused by crooks in the private sector as well as by the government itself but, it is needed just the same. You want a great mutal fund to invest in? Try the Investment Corporation of America. It would had made me very well off had I been able to stay in it. So, you like Gore's idea, do ya? Many have made the same prediction. People are living far longer than they did 50 years ago. Many would rather not retire as working keeps them active. If you rather not work untill that age, invest in a sound mutal fund that will pay you back and free you from want. No, actually, I do not think it is ggod to force people to pay into a system that is wrought with problems. However, many are not in the position to invest heavily in stock, bonds and mutal funds. Many live check to check in order to survive. Not everyone is earning $50,000.00 a year or better. Not everyone is set up with great health coverage. Those of us who have a pre-existing condition are barred from getting private insurance and pay near everything out of pocket. Many of us have been sued for medical bills. Many of us have exhuasted our life savings and then must depend on that in which we invested in, our government. Only to be denied untill we end up in court to force the government to pay. Truth is is that the government cares nothing about the people who pay their wages. Uncle Sam much rather those like myself just die and be done with us. SS and SSDI helps many who would otherwise be starving and living on the street. It's not perfect and there is a great latitude for improvement. To just cut everyone off would do far greater damage. He put about as much effort into the problem that he does deciding whether he should put jelly or jam on his toast (jelly and jam that is paid for by the taxpayers). He has not put much effort into problems that are growing bigger each day in this country. From administration to administration not much is ever really done. The presidency is a joke and nothing more than a smoke screen for what really is going on. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Who's stopping you? Hell, you could put 100% of your earnings into a private account if you wanted to. And, yet, you were there seeking help for whatever problem you may have had. ?????? That makes no sence??????? I know several people who were able to get a good home with the help of HUD. Do even have a tiny bit of an idea what HUD is? NAFTA was well on its way to being signed long before Clinton got into office. GHW Bush signed legislation in 1991 that made it so. You should research before posting. I am posting this link to a write up at Avert in response to the STD thread soley to help others have a better understanding of HIV/AIDS. So little is mentioned in this country about AIDS unless it is about Africa. Many seem to believe that AIDS is not all that dangerous of an illness. Even my own family believes that it is nothing more than a bad cold and nothing to be concerned about. Many believe that AIDS is fully under control and that it is not a death sentence. For those of us who cannot afford proper treatment, it is very much a death sentence just waiting for the switch to be thrown. I have read that more than half of those infected recieve little or no treatment at all (I know this to be true in my case). This is a very informative piece that I hope you will read. http://www.avert.org/america.htm "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Hell, even Nixon thought Thompson was "Dumb as Hell". http://rawstory.com/showarticle.php?src=http%3A%2F%2Fnews.yahoo.com%2Fs%2Fap%2F20070707%2Fap_on_el_pr%2Fthompson_watergate The last thing this country needs is another conservative bent on holding this country back and waging wars to promote their mindless agenda. In the last 7 years not one bit of progress has been made. Social security issues have not been taken care of. The healthcare system is in shambles. The housing market is a mess. The job market is pitiful (unless you call low paying, no benefit jobs progress). Americans are getting their bodies blown to hell in a country that did not attack us because some idiot in the white house lied to push his personal agenda. Personal freedoms are being pushed aside so that this government can keep a watchful eye on whomever they please. We have a whitehouse that feels that it does not have to answer to the American people for its actions. The conservative agenda is much like that of the Taliban. No progress only an iron fist rule. It seems some people are fine with living in a police state. That is untill they get caught doing what they preach against. A few posts back you wrote -"YAWN, YAWN, YAWN" Now you're saying this is completely unacceptable!!! I don't get it. As another poster addressed - this is probably in a blind trust. Rep. Pelosi has zero input on specific investment decisions. After a little more thought on it and read further into who owns what it is hypocritical of any politician or activist to be making money from companies that do business with the very governments they rail against. I'm critical of alcohol and would I not be a hypocrit to own stock in Anheuser Busch? Yup, like someone said, being who she is, she most likely has know idea what she owns. So with that, she can't really be called a hypocrit. And, I would imagine most who own stocks and mutal funds really have know idea where their dollars are coming from in such a globalized market.
