  1. It's coming here just as well http://www.nytimes.com/2007/02/05/washington/05dna.html?ex=1328331600&en=e9adf85821030b8c&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  2. Go ask John Edwards. I'm sure he has a round-a-bout figure. The lawyer takes 33% to 40% of any settlement. Quite lucrative. One way to cut down on lawsuits would be to cap the amount that an attorney can take at maybe(?) 5 to 10%. 3. ... and his wife as mine :) Your going to Hell. Hope you like snow. http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tips/getAttraction.php?tip_AttractionNo==2456 "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  4. I do not think that a reasonable solution will ever be found to satisfy everyone. So far, as I can tell, Bush had the right idea with the guest worker program. I think that it would be a start and would evolve into something that most people could live with. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 5. You may want to read this from an HIV/AIDS information site. http://www.avert.org/condoms.htm "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  6. And... we do that, already. Problem is, once they've been here and know that they can get work, they will quickly be back. I like Bush's idea of the guest worker program. If it could realisticly be implemented, it would greatly cut down the number of illegals. If you believe that there should be no discussion on the matter and wish to only scream about them being illegal then nothing will ever be done and they will continue to illegally cross our borders. After re-reading Mackinnons piece, I do see where he is coming from and do agree on certian points. Another piece concerning this issue; http://www.timescommunity.com/site/tab2.cfm?newsid=18597166&BRD=2553&PAG=461&dept_id=506066&rfi=6 "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 7. This is interesting; http://judiciary.senate.gov/testimony.cfm?id=1292&wit_id=3777 As is this; http://cgood.org/healthcare-reading-cgpubs-speeches-19.html In the latter, it states that 33% to 40% goes to the attorney. From the latter link; Nor does the system work well from the standpoint of the injured patient. First, as Professor Sage has observed, it is hard to get a lawyer unless the claim is worth at least several hundred thousand dollars.[13] Next, the litigation drags on for years for injured patients as well as for doctors. It is probably accurate to suggest that the system favors whoever is in the wrong--they gain an advantage merely by threatening to drag the other side through interminable proceedings. Most shocking is the cost-- the injured plaintiff typically pays 33 to 40 percent of any award or settlement to lawyers.[14] Over half the total cost of the malpractice system-- $15-17 billion out of $28 billion -- goes to lawyers and administrative costs. 8. "Planet Conspiron to Planet Earth. Planet Conspiron to Planet Earth." "Planet Earth here, go on Planet Conspiron." "We have a really good one for you this time. Tell them that John Kennedy was on the plane. Him and Jim Morrison, who are not really dead, were recruited to head up the New World Order. Leak it out slowly. That should blow their brain fuses." "We read you, loud and clear, Planet Conspiron. The nut jobs will have a field day with this one!" "Planet Comspiron, out." "Planet Earth, out." 9. I only stated my impression. He's free to state his impression of me. I didn't call him an ASS. I actually like Royd. He has given me plenty to think about and has altered my view from time to time. Same as others on this board has. Educated ASS? Oh, more like a smart ASS or as others may say, dumb ASS. Or, simply "What an ASS". Hell, what do I know. I only went to a community college. By the way, I was in the liberal arts department. My major was journalism. I had to dropout after two years due to illness but, I do hope to pick it up again, by next summer. I am considering a change to a graphic art major, however. I am sorry if I come across as extremely blunt. I cannot help it but, will keep in mind to try and be less. 10. From what I garner from your past postings is that you rather kick those who are down on their luck and need a hand up. I, also, get the impression that you have a profound hatred for women. I take it, you only use such qoutes as "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself." only because you think it makes you look good, not because you actually believe it. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. Illegal immigrants are just that...ILLEGAL. PERIOD. They should all be inprisoned, because the minute they stepped foot on our soil, they became crimialns. Criminals break laws, and its illegal for these low lifes to be here. I cant believe this is even a topic. This iseven an issua? THEY ARE ILLEGAL. Oh, I fully agree that an illegal is breaking the law. I am not exactly sure how they should be punished. Some believe that they should be given lengthy prison terms. That in itself would be a major drain on our taxes. Now, if they were to commit a crime other than merely being here illegally, picking the fruit you eat or the vegatables you put in your salad. Then, of course, prison is inline for the crimes committed (burglary, rape, child abuse...). However, Mackinnons platform is paranoia. Not saying that all that he writes is wrong, only that he goes beyond extreme and lumps every person of a race together. I do agree 100% with the piece he wrote concerning Don Imus as well as a few other articles he has written. For the most, however, he goes to an extreme which provokes racism in certian people. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. I think that you are confused on what socialism is. Marx defined socialism as the road to democracy. In a democracy the majority rules. So is it in a socialist society. Marx and Engels aim was to make the working class the ruling class. In a communist society the worker is only a worker and has no say in society. The Stalinist perverted the ideas of Marx. The communist wanted full control over the people. Communism is more in line with conservatism. As communism is authoritarian, so is conservatism. Your neo-cons wish for a New Deal type of socialism and more regulation on the people. Conservatives are more socialist than they wish to admit. The only difference between a true conservative and a true socialist is who gets to weild the power. Conservatives believe that the government should have the final say as where the socialist believe that the working class should have the final say. In that, the conservative is more like a communist and the democrat more like a socialist. Bear in mind that I am not offending but, I have no idea how well read you are or what level of education you have obtained but, from what I can tell from your past post is that you have done little or no research at all. You seem only to parrot what you have heard from the likes of Tom Delay or that of the Southern Baptist. I highly recommend that you do some intense research on your own or sign up for a political science class at a (GASP!!!!) community college. 13. although very true, that'll get under the skin of a handful of the zealous atheists here I don't think that is accurate. I am not aware of any atheists organizations whos goal is to make the world atheist or to convert people to atheism. As far as I can tell there is not much in common between atheism and religions. It has to be accurate. Such as it takes faith to believe in a god inwhich one cannot produce actual proof of such, it also takes faith to believe that there is no god inwhich one cannot produce actual proof that there isn't. Faith is the cornerstone of religion. Also, just because most atheist are not bound and determined to convert everyone to atheism does not mean that it is not a religion of sort. Many religions are not out to convert the world. I've never met a Jew that tried to convert me. In fact, every Jewish person that I have met not once ever brought up their belief. I cannot say that for Christians and Atheist. Myself, I am agnostic and sway more towards Taoism as I really like the princibles of the Tao Teh Ching. 14. Douglas MacKinnon? LOL, a kook and a scam artist. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  15. http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2006/10/09/past_foes_of_church_state_ties_turn_supporters/ There is no difference. The army could easily feed themselves using mess cooks. Haliburton is not needed to do the job that the army could very well do themselves. If a person wants to pave their private road, they could easily do it themself or hire a contractor to do it. But, this is much different than the army hiring contractors when they have the people to do the job. Coupled with charitable donations, many illnesses could be tackled. As people claiming to be compassionate, we should look after one another. I agree 100%. Pork is a major waste and both dems and repubs are guilty. We have all seen the waste and we should be screaming loud. And we do. Jerry Lewis has been able to raise millions of dollars through his telethons. Cancers societies do it every day. I will be pestering the people on my road very soon to donate to the leukemia and lymphoma society. These dollars collected, coupled with tax dollars greatly offset the overall cost of the taxpayer. However, it is very much the same as using just tax dollars had the charitable donation been collected as tax dollars. People perceive donations has giving from the heart and not dipping into their taxes. Either way, the money is collected. Correct. However, charity begins at home and filters out. My problem with our money going abroad is solely with the waste of the money. Bush has given faith based organization 1/4 of the money that was earmarked to help AIDS patients in Africa. Much of the money is unaccounted for. Many of the relgious groups that have received the funds are not using the money to educate and stop the spread of HIV. Much of the money is used to promote religion. Much of it goes to pay salaries. Money that is earmarked to fight HIV should go to health organizations to provide medications and education. No, I do not believe that we are the pariah of the world. We, as a whole, do much good. Most Americans are great people. It is the few that drag us down. The same with all other countries. There are more good people than there are bad. Those people need to stand up. Darfur is a great example. I wonder how it got to the point it is today. Why didn't the people stand up and fight? Why did they just stand by and let it happen? Are the bad stronger than the good? The same in Germany under Hitler. Why did the many good Germans stand by and let it happen? It baffles me and I have no answer. I am just as guilty as everyone else. I read, I watch it on the news, I shake my head. But, still I do very little or nothing at all. But, what can I do about Darfur or the AIDS crisis in Africa? If someone has those answers, I'll do what I can. They should be our main concern. They will someday hold the power over us older people. If we give them less today, they will return that to us. We should concentrate on cultivating a society of caring people not a society of warriors and hate. 16. Are you telling me that Marx' athiesm had no influence on his economic philosophy, or the mechanics involved in achieving his desired end? Communism is based on Marxism and forced Atheism was part of the package. The State is the supreme power. To be fair to Karl Marx, he was not an atheist. You should do some indepth research concerning Karl Marx's philosophey. As noted by Quentin Lauer: Marx is not out to get rid of God; he is out to free man--not free him from God but from himself and from his enslavement to religion, whlch is his own creation. It is not God but the belief in God which must go, if man is to be free. Karl Marx rejected atheism as atheism is but an inverted religion. Karl Marx concern was the power in which the institution of religion held over society and the economics of society. Religion creates social tiers and hampers the advancements in society. Unless, of course, you adhere to the wishes of the church. Karl Marx did not want to remove god but remove the power of the church. Our founding fathers had the right idea to seperate government from the church. Religion has no place in the structure of economics. 17. You're only a whore if you accept money. Otherwise, you're just a slut like the rest of us. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  18. You would only have to travel about the U.S. and ask the many people in this country why they do it. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  19. I apologize for the "I". We are going to have to pay taxes one way or another. Our tax dollars are going to go somewhere. I much prefer that my dollars stay here in the U.S. to help other Americans. I'm not very happy about the billions of dollars that are being given to such corporations as Halliburton. I am not very happy about religious groups getting my tax dollars to build huge churches. I am not very happy about religious groups receiving a huge amount of my tax dollars that were meant to fight the spread of HIV and to help those who are infected. I'm not very happy that my tax dollars are being use to provide medical care in third world nations when there are plenty of people right here who are in need. I am not very happy that my tax dollars are being used to pay the salary of a multi-millionaire politician. You are forced to pay for all of that and even more that you do not even know of! Are you happy about that or is it just more convenient to scream about the little that you do know. Before you pick on those who really do need help (feel free to go after those who are scamming the healthcare system), take the time to see where the vast majority of your dollars are going. You will be shocked to see how much real waste there actually is. But, from what I see and hear, it is way too much to expect that Americans would be willing to help out their brothers and sisters. Please note, I am not speaking of those who much rather sit and drink beer all day but, those who have worked and paid into the system. Tell me, what do you suggest that we do with all of the Iraq war veterans who are going to find themselves homeless, unemeployable, ill, addicted to the drugs that they were given, unable to cope with daily life? Should our tax dollars help them? What about their children? Should our dollars help them? In the years to come the system will be even further burdened with the influx of these people. You think it is bad now? Just wait, it is going to get far worst. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  20. Let's hope it actually has some teeth. I tend to be pretty cynical when those guys announce they're going to police themselves. It is hard to have faith in a fox watching over the chickens. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  21. I agree 100% with you. For the record, I've never said that every single person should have government sponsored healthcare (not suggesting that you alluded to such). I would hope that those in true need do recieve help and those who could easily afford it (some spend what an insurance policy cost on just as much beer each month) should be required to purchase insurance. I wish I had been more aware of the pitfall when I was younger. This is why I often harp about education on such matters. For myself it is far to late but, for those who are young and wild or not, do yourself a favor and check into what Lawrocket has done. Do some research. Find something that fits your lifestyle. Create a net for yourself should you fall. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  22. I found this to be interesting http://www.emedicine.com/emerg/topic670.htm I, myself, have not been in an ER since 1989 after a finger was severed. I was treated immediatedly and out of there within a few hours. It was work related. It does appear that there are systems in place to evaluate the seriousness of a persons condition but, there also seems to be a lot of room for improvement and a greater need to educate people to make a wiser decision in lifestyle. Should more be spent on educating people? Would it help to reduce cost all the way around? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  23. Roid, as usual, you guess wrong. Robbing banks is not the same as seeking medical care through the channels that were set up to help those in need. You're scenario amounts to nothing more than a criminal offense. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  24. It is what is left of an American. It is what it is. It is reality. Not all who are dead, innocent. Not all who are dead, guilty. Most are the innocent whose deths are "collateral damage". Such an eloquent term to use to take the human factor from it all. The reality is the "collateral damge" is the innocent. Don't like the pictures? Does it make you feel better about supporting atrocities when you do not have to face the truth and can hide behind such phrases as "collateral damage"? I am glad that such photos are available. They should be broadcasted on the T.V. nightly. Every person should be required to know what reality looks like. Maybe then, war supporters will stop hiding behind magnetic ribbons on their cars. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  25. Just placing in a scenario that can happen to anyone. How many people have you met in which something beyond their control has happened and they lost everything? Shit happens everyday to good people. Not only here in the U.S. but worldwide. Take a good hard look at those in Iraq. Children with no legs or arms or disfigured. Whay are they to do? They have no insurance. Should the U.S. help them? If you were to take a note from Lawrocket, fuck no we shouldn't help them. It's not my problem. Why should my tax dollars pay for their medical needs. We freed the ungrateful fucks! Is that not enough? (Actually, I believe that we owe those kids in Iraq everything for what our government brought on them.) Hey, do you throw rocks at the Shriners Hospital everytime you drive by one. After all, they do take charity money and tax dollars. They believe that all children are equal and deserving of equal care whether that child comes from a wealthy family or the poorest family. Those socialist pricks! How dare they give equally! For everyone; Do yourself a favor and go down to a childrens hospital and sit with a child that will die without treatment. If you still feel that your taxes would be better spent on anything other then you cannot be reached and counted on for compassion. If you still feel that the child is not deserving, I will wish for you the same fate. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
