Aprilcat ROCKS She is too cool. I've known her longer than anyone I've known from the internet. I think we go back to 1998. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

TX to execute man they know wasn't the killer

Such sentences do not deter. Lengthy prison terms do not deter. If they did, more prisons would not be built. The oppisite would occur. Prisons would be torn down. I have no sympathy for this guy. I'm only questioning whether the sentence warrants the level of participation. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -

I take this to be sarcasm. Hmm... You would be safe to assume that I was elsewhere. You would not be safe to assume this. I read more than those accounts. There are a number of unbias articles on this case. And that is what every account that I read has stated. Nowhere did any article state that he had intimate knowledge beforehand that the trigger would be pulled. Why should he? It was not pulled in the other holdups. I am not saying that this guy is completely innocent only that his level does not warrant capitol punishment. If it did, then any passenger in a car being driven by a drunk driver is just as guilty as the driver had the driver kill someone due to drunk driving. They are surely guilty of something but, to what level? The same as if you let your friend leave your house drunk. Surely you, too, should be held accountable for your action of allowing a drunk person to leave your property putting others at danger. This man, surely, put others in danger by allowing someone to leave his car to commit a crime and someone died. At exactly what level is he responsible? Should it be greater than that of the passenger riding with a drunk driver who ultimately kills someone? If so, why should it be so? Most certianly a passenger in a car must know that the driver can, some how, be responsible for a horrible accident. From what I have read, I see this to be at a greater level than that in the passenger/drunk driver analogy. Although, not at a level that warrants death but, an extremely lengthy sentence. Why should he care if the guy gets executed? He has nothing to gain by saving him. As for the guy being reliable? I believe that you would say that he is reliable had he said that this guy knew damn well that he was going to commit murder. If it could be proven beyond the shadow of doubt, then yes, I would say he is every bit as guilty of the crime of murder. There is no proof beyond that I have read. But, just think, neither of us know the full story and the jury may not know either. My thought is that if there is no proof beyond the shadow then he is guilty only of the crime of participation in the robberies and not the actual murder. His participation in the robberies, coupled with the murder should warrant an extremely lengthy sentence and not that of death. So, next time a friend of yours downs a few beers with you, drives home and gets busted for a DUI or kills someone, then you'll have no problem going to jail and sharing a manslaughter charge with him? If you took part in the DUI then sure but otherwise no. Having beer with him does not make you party to the DUI and since beer in itself is not a crime, you are not an accomplice The question in the dui analogy should be; If the passengers in a vehicle being operated by an intoxicated person are in knowledge that such person is so, should the passengers also be considered equally at fault? Before I signed the petition I googled the case and considered other scenarios in which a person has knowledge of a crime being committed where it escalates to the point in which a person dies. In most, accomplices are not held to the same level as the trigger person. In some cases, such as murder for hire, the person who solicits murder is almost always held to a higher level. There is no proof that he had intimate knowledge that the murder was going to happen beforehand. The man who was executed for the killing stated that the driver did not know he was going commit the killing. I see no reason why he shouldn't be held accountable for his level of participation. Possibly the level that a driver normally recieves had no one died plus whatever extra time that would be allowable. I'd double his time to serve full sentence. That is a shame. I signed the petition. I usually oppose the death penalty due to the number of people whom have been proven innocent after conviction but do favor it in certian cases such as the guy who killed his wife and unborned baby and dumped them in the San Francisco Bay in California some years back. This case does not warrent the death penalty. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -
He must had missed reading this part: Susan Anton, a New York University anthropologist and co-author of the Leakey work, said she expects anti-evolution proponents to seize on the new research, but said it would be a mistake to try to use the new work to show flaws in evolution theory. “This is not questioning the idea at all of evolution; it is refining some of the specific points,” Anton said. “This is a great example of what science does and religion doesn't do. It’s a continous self-testing process.” If anything, it only reinforces the theory and provides new avenues to research. Science is not an absolute. It is forever expanding and builds has it goes. We would not be where we are today if science were like religion which never expanded beyond a book that claims the earth was created in six days and then it was time for a rest. Union Reps in Front of the Local Grocery Store

It does seem that people are willing to take a few bucks for that instant satisfaction only to find later that what they really did was prostituted themselves. I'm 50/50 when it comes to unions after the screwing we got at Hussmann. Ingersol Rand, whom boughtout Hussmann, cared very little about rules and the union. For the most, the union did very little to save jobs. Before the layoffs, Gary Reay, the locals president, stood before the membership and swore up and down that all was fine and that no one was getting laid off. Most feel that he knew, damn well, that the lay offs were coming. I feel that he lied his ass off to to get the contract signed, sealed and delivered. Most of the membership wanted to strike. We were in the hall for near 24 hours as Reay and his cronies from the international near begged for the membership to vote yes on the contract. I voted no. We went to work as soon as we left the hall. By the end of the day, the company was passing out pink slips. There is no way that the "leadership" did not know that was coming. Companies have some union top dogs in their pocket. Speaking of temps. Back in 1978 when the teamsters striked at Hussmann the company bussed in convicts to fill jobs on the floor. That is no shit. That strike got violent. The railroad lead that ran up to the docks were blown up. Supervisors cars were bashed. Strikers were often followed and beaten. I didn't work there at that time but, a friend and I did go out there to see about temp jobs that were advertised in the paper (my father warned me about crossing the strike line). We were confronted and told that if we went through that gate we were going to get our heads bashed in. We turned around. Hussmann has a bad history when it comes to employer/employee relations. It will never change. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -

I'm not calling you a liar. Greg went to work at the Marysville plant back in 1990. I do know that he did not start as a temp. Says it was the best move he ever made. I take it he is very happy at Honda. I wish they would build a plant down here in the Ozarks. I can understand why they resist the union. The Steelworkers at Hussmann is a joke for the most. They did get us decent wages but, Ingersol Rand did as they pleased after buying the company. No sooner than the contract for labor was signed, IR began lay offs and shifting work to Mexico City. The union did very little to stop it. Saw a lot of people, including myself, go out the door. Sucked. I want my union dues back. Tough luck on that. Unions use to be great but, the top dogs have made it all about them and very little about the working stiffs on the factory floor sweating in the heat or freezing in the cold. They lost the focus of what organization is all about. As for breaks, when we worked 12 hour shifts we only got breaks as if we were working 8hrs and our lunch was reduced to 20min. Had we worked from 3am to 3:30pm we would had got 30min lunch. We were paid for 12 hours. Fast paced, back breaking work in the heat really sucks but, the money was good and the benefits weren't bad. Archeologist have also uncovered the first computer. They have also discovered the first spam email on the hard drive after being able to reboot the system. The hard drive has a 120 gigarock capacity. Sadly, the programs installed on the prehistoric computer are not Vista compatible and is prone to crashing. I just had to call an old buddy of mine whom I worked with on the railroad and ask him about this. He left the rails to go to work at the Honda plant in Marysville. I asked him about this. He says not true. He started at just above $18.00hr. He was making over $50,000 on the rails. He now makes over $24.00hr. He said they get regular breaks like everyone else. Paid vacation. Paid shutdown time in July and December. He says they are strict about being late or missing days as they should be. However, they do get bonuses for performance and for not missing work. Illness is excused. I asked him what he makes per year. He says he pulls in over $60,000. As for benefits, they have full coverage which includes dental and eye. Says it is a great place to work and that the UAW has been denied everytime they tried to organize the workers. Even if they are bringing in temps at half the pay, $12.00hr is not to bad. And, I don't. I have stated that many doctors have their hands tied and must abide by the rules of the organization that governs them. Otherwise, they are out of a job. Please do not believe that I have no respect for doctors, I do. I have no problem cleaning a deer or a rabbit but, I wouldn't want to cut open people. When my finger got cut off (it was only left dangling by some flesh and ligaments), I watched as the doctor re-attached it. He hit it up with a local, No pain. He did some fancy sewing, some caterizing, scraped and cleaned where the sheetmetal went through the joint, put it back together and presto! He was done. He did an A-1 job on it. Definetly worth his pay. My major complaint has been with private practice AIDS Dr.'s. I admit that I do have limited experience with them but, in that limited time frame the experience has not been great. My other complaint deals with billing. I've compared bills that medicare and medicaid paid to bills that I paid the entire amount out of pocket and see that I am paying twice as much than what would had been paid had I had insurance. I wonder why a person without insurance must pay more than what an insurance company pays for the same service? My last visit, over two years ago, took that amount of time to pay off. I do know that ins. companies have the ability to bargain and feel that what they don't pay is then passed on to those who cannot afford or get insurance and in turn, eventually wrote off as the poor cannot fully pay. The poor then becomes the fall guy for the reason of high medical cost. It's a past the buck untill it can't be passed anymore. There is no doubt that there is alot of abuse in the system. It's not just those who run to ER's for every little ache but, it is also Dr's who bill for services not rendered or double bill, it's insurance companies that bargain for the lowest cost to them but still charge high premiums and drop clients when they start using their insurance or just refuse to pay. There is plenty of blame to go around. Sadly, it will continue with no fix insight. It is really the system that needs an operation. The only problem is... who will pay for it? I flat out refuse to buy beer. I do not drink so I am not about to contribute to someone getting drunk and then possibly getting into a car accident after leaving a dz. I know at least 5 people who have gotten dwi's after leaving dropzones and know of one who ran his car off of the road. I can only imagine the uproar if an 18yo kid were to get drunk at a dz and then hit and kill someone in a drunk driving incident. The same with legal age drinkers. I've seen so many jumpers get drunk and then jump into their car and leave for wherever I always hope that they get pulled over and thrown in jail before something like a head on collision happens. Better they be in jail than a child in the ground. If dz's want to allow drinking, car keys need to be collected and held untill the next day and designated drivers should be available. OH my god (or muhamed had Saddam had won), John! You are so right! I mean Saddam nearly had us with what? His carriers parked off of our coast preparing wave after wave of attack? His ground troops marching across America slaughtering each and everyone of us who did not want an Iraqi style government? You are so right. Damn, glad you opened my eyes. I now realize exactly how close we all were to becoming muslims. Good thing that there are still those willing to kill those who didn't attack us. After all, the only way to preserve freedom is to spill the blood of innocent people. I seriously doubt if Jefferson meant that America should start wars merely to claim that we are preserving freedom. Will you kindly explain how invading Iraq is preserving American freedom? All such trivial rants of the media. Blah, blah, blah... dead babies, starving children... all trivial. They should buck-up and quit being such pussies and die like... well, I just don't know... fill us in John. It should had never started in the first place. We should had finished the job in Afghanistan. Now, look at the mess that Afghanistan is in. An ineffective puppet government. Heroin production is at an all time high. The Taliban is quickly gaining strength. Osama Bin laden is doing as he pleases. John, you're all gung-ho for war! I'm sure that the army would love to have you providing your unwavering support on the ground in Iraq. Why not do the patriotic thing and go join today? Yup! Invading a country that poised no threat is always the right thing to do. Hell, while we are at it, we should invade Mexico! Why stop there? We can then jump right over to Cuba and give them a good old American style ass kicking. Shit, we'll only just be getting warmed up and should extend our ass kicking boot to South America. Lots of countries down there that could use a can of whupass. Yup, we need to just quite being pussies and start the ass kicking campaign. We'll show the world that even if you are not threatening us that you can still expect a good ol fashion American style ass kicking. And some people wonder why we are so hated. Ohhhh...thanks for clearing that up. Silly me for getting bent over a few soldiers getting killed! Hell, now that I am clear, thanks to you, I no longer give a damn about soldiers being blown to hell for a war that makes no sense. After all, it's a war! and people die. We should just get use to it. Soldiers are but tools anyways and if you lose a screwdriver, you merely replace it. Soldiers are just as replaceable. Comparing WWII to this qaugmire without reason is like saying a VW Beetle is the same as a Funnycar. Wars just happen? And all of this time I was assuming that someone had to throw the first stone! And when more than 10,000 American soldiers are dead, we can't complain because it's a war and people die. Thank you for making me see the light and to realize that those soldiers are nothing more than a tool and that I should no longer care because, well... it's a war and people die. Maybe, you should learn the proper spelling. Here's a quick lesson... AIDS. It is an acyronm. Its letter are for these words, Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome And I am not happy with but, I have learned to deal with it. Had I had known more about it in 94, I'd had taken precaution to protect myself. I was completely ignorant of it and believed that only gay people got it. You talk about working long hours as if only doctors do such. My last job in a factory had me welding from 3am till 3pm. Long hours under a hood in extreme heat. $17.95 an hour plus time and ahalf. Before that I was welding pipe in the weather from sun up to sun down. When I was testing rail and welds, I was away from home for 3 to 4 months at a time. Usually worked 6 12 hour days. When I would do the Mexican test, I was in Mexico for over 7 months. We worked 7 days a week. A normal work day was from 5am till midnight. I know plenty of people who put in extremely long hours and work 7 day weeks. Your situation is not uncommon. I have paid out of pocket for the majority of my medical care since losing my insurance. I know that some on this board will scream "Well, you should! Why should medicare help you out! That money belongs to me!" My point is, is that if I am paying for a service then the doctor that is providing the service best damn do his/her fucking job and I do not give a damn about his/her bills. I care about what it is that I am paying for and it best be right. As a patient, I have the right to expect that I am getting my moneys worth. According to your figures, a kid at McDonalds makes more money. If so, go flip burgers if you are not happy. If a god was actually looking out for you, you would not had broke your leg. A god did not place you where you landed. That was your screw up. Learn how to use the stearing lines. They work better than leaving fate up to a god. As for medical people being at the dz, not uncommon. If you are counting on a god to bail you out when you fuck up in this sport, you should consider playing checkers instead. I feel for you and know just where you are coming from. An MRI recently uuncovered a large mass on my mom's ovary. The Dr. suspects cancer but, untill further testing, it is unsure. Don't like it? There is always welding school. I fully realize that most dr.'s have a heavy load and that often their hands are tied. But, I have stuck in the medical system for 12 years and I have met a few dr.s that were shit for brains. I have, also, met quite a few very good dr.s. Those being at the V.A. in St.Louis are very fine people. The Dr.'s whom I have seen in private practice seemed to have more of a fuck you attitude. I don't know you so, I can't say either way about you. I'm not happy with the AIDS doc in Springfield whom I am to see in Sept.. I wasn't to happy with his attitude the last time I saw him. I have talked to others at the clinic and heard the same. He doesn't care to answer questions. The guy barely says a word. The same was with a private practice AIDS doc in St. Louis. I most likely will make the long drive to the V.A. in St. Louis. I was very happy with them. Hey, if you're not happy with your pay, maybe you shouldn't had gotten into the medical field. As for insurance? I had good insurance untill my job went across the border. But then I do have the V.A. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Statisics compiled over the last 30 years has shown that the Eggo has been the primary reason for the majority of homicides committed before 9am.
