  1. Best hope that something catastrophic does not enter your cushy world. Say, you were paralyzed from the neck down and your wife was also injured in a catastrophic way due to something beyond your control (maybe you hit black ice and lost control and flipped the car. It happens.). You have used up your insurance and they are no longer going to renew your policy. Other insurers will not touch you or her. You are without coverage for you, your wife and children. Suddenly your child falls ill! If I were like you, I'd say fuck his stupid little snot nose kid. It is not MY problem that his child may have a cancer. WHY should the taxes I pay have to go to give his child treatment for cancer? Why should my taxes help some moron who injured himself and his wife in a car accident? I'll be just like you in this scenario and say tough fucking do-dah if your child will die if there is no treatment. Tough fucking do-dah if you need treatment for your condition. I'll be just like you in this scenario and help to throw your paralyzed ass out on to the street and I'll be just like you as I shine up my kicking boots to give your sick child the royal fucking punt. It don't feel very good to be like you but, I see your point that it is much better to save the government money to use for anything but helping Americans and it could be much fun to laugh at sick and dying people, if I were like you. Glad I am not. Must be nice to be so void of compassion. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  2. People who die in car accidents are not the same as those in which bombs were intentionally dropped on. Doctors go into the operation room to save lives. If a person dies while the doctor does all that can be done to save that person it is understandable. When armies intentionally drop bombs on people the intention is to kill everyone within the range of the weapon. Not understandable. We understand that mechanical failures happen and that planes will succumb to gravity when it can no longer sustain flight. Not the same as dropping bombs on villages in the hope of killing one person. Collateral damage is not understandable. If you are so hip-hip-hooray for war, why are you not on the frontline? Are you afraid that you may get a splinter or worst, your head scattered in the wind? Take a good long look at the lucky guy in the picture. Are not the weapons we devised nice? Do they not give us such a great perspective? Do they not do such wonderful things. I would say that the dead would say other if they could only speak the words I am sure they would speak. I am happy that we have cameras that can speak for them. Do you need more reality? Or, are you happy believing otherwise? There is a place for those who live in fantasyville. It's called Disneyland. Maybe, each day I will post a new picture of what these fucking weapons bring us. Would it bother you so much to see pictures of the dead? Or would you rather I post pictures of happy people living in Disneyland? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  3. However mean and small minded they might be, drug offenders are still criminals today. Maybe they'll be less petty after some time off. I see Johns point as being the cells are filled with people who could better serve a sentence with at home monitoring and probation. It does work. I wore an ankle bracelet for several months for an assualt and battery conviction. Worked for me. I know quite a few guys who have also had the bracelet slapped on. Worked for them also. Locking someone up for petty offences really only makes them worst in many cases. Prison should be reserved for the more serious crimes. Now, of course, if a person is running a drug empire they should be in prison. The kid on the corner hawking rock should be placed into programs that will turn him/her around for the better. Placing them in a facility with the most harden offenders is only an education for the worst. I really did not believe that Scooter Libby needed to be in prison and the same with Martha Stewart. They lied, true. Yet, they never killed anyone. Politicians who lie and steal should lose everything that they have aquired. They should lose their wealth. I'm not so sure about prison. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  4. John makes a valid point in bringing up the cost of war (waste of money that would had been better spent here). I was looking at some pictures of children who have lost legs, arms, faces disfigured in Iraq the other day. Horrible stuff. There were also pictures of men, women and Americans with their guts spilled out onto the dirty road where the fell after being shot. The children were being treated for the injuries that this war brought them. The Army guy standing next to one child was beaming a big ol' grin and there was a caption about the wooden leg that the U.S. sent to the kid. So nice of us to send that kid a piece of shit wooden leg. Where are those who complain about children in the U.S. getting care? Why are not those same people screaming about some Iraqi kid getting a crappy looking wooden leg. That lousey stick that the Army slammed on to his ugly stump most likely cost the taxpayers thousands of dollars when any old stick laying in the street would serve the same purpose. I also look at pictures of people dying of AIDS in Africa as well as other countries, including the U.S.. Why don't the same people scream about the billions spent in Africa? Why only scream about Americans getting help? Is it only that it makes you feel good about yourself to say that we americans are always happy to help those in other countries. I recall, on one past thread how some were beaming about how much money that the U.S. sent to help those who lost everything during the tsunami. A very large portion of that money never made it to the victims. Why not scream about them getting some help? It really does appear that Americans hate Americans more than the rest of the world. 5. Did you say the same for Jefferson? One is the same as the other. Dems and repubs are mostly cut from the same bolt of cloth. There are some good people on bothsides as there are some crooks on bothsides. Forget what party they belong to and focus on the crime that they are being accused of. If they are truely guilty then let's hope that they pay for what they did and not get a get out of jail free card. 6. 100%. And then those who are in need and cannot afford or not eligible for insurance are made to be the scapegoat. Redtape has put many returning injured men and women of the war on the backburner. Many have been flatout denied healthcare. The Army has taken it upon themselves to claim that some of the men and women were mentally ill before they got injured in war therefore the Army is not responsible. They were good enough to send to war but, nothing more than wastecases now that they are not useable. What should we do for those who are being denied when they clearly need help? There are without doubt those who will try and bilk the system. They are prosecuted when they are discovered. Those being everyone from the scam artist to the doctor who bills for service not provided. The system really is broken in that it has culminated into years of fraud and waste with near no one watching it. The checks and balances are far and in between. I do not want the government to be solely responsible but would like to see a real working relationship between the government and the private sector. There are ways to solve it if they only would listen to each other and be able to arrive at solutions that are workable. One side trying to push it all onto the other doesn't work. I do know that there are many fine doctors who honestly do care. Many, however, do throw thier hands up and exclaim that they are tied. And for good reason. If they go outside the boudaries set, they are out of a job. I don't really blame them for doing such. I blame the system that tied their hands. For that, also, the system is broken when a bureaucrat is in charge of your treatment then something is amiss. Put the doctors back in charge. Have a check and balance system that will assure us that some doctors are not bilking the system with overcharge. Weed out the insurance scam artist who are also responsible for the rise in cost. Most people are not there to scam but they get lumped in and it causes even more problems. Those with growing health concerns are least likely to be able to work. I can't work in a hot enviroment anymore as the heat does a wicked number on me. Standing for a period of time is painfull and the same goes with my legs arms and hands due to peripheral neuropathy. This was part of the reason to start a home business. That and that it is hard to get employment when you fail their physical. A bad hhealthcare system also gives way for homelessness, crime, drug abuse, alcoholism. The sense of helplessness stems from poor health. Many illnesses are preventable . My illness was preventable. Had I knew something about HIV, I would had been far more careful and would had made a better choice. The information just wasn't out there. If it was, it was not readily available to me. Education needs to be the frontline defence in lowering healthcare. Only in the last few years have we began seeing real information on HIV. In the past it was billed as a gay disease. It is not and now the information is being broadcast. It is great that people from all levels of society do come forward to tell their story. Maybe something that I posted made someone think first and kept them from contracting HIV. If so, then I helped to lower healthcare by keeping one person from making the same mistake that I did. The same can be said about warning people about junk food such as MacDonalds. Or providing info on alcohol and tobacco. Stay away from this stuff and save yourself from having to see a doctor in the future. I have some ideas but I have no real answer to the growing problem that is sure to get worst. Hell, I'll be dead and gone long before anyone figures it out. And that's if anyone ever does. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 7. The War Prayer by Mark Twain It was a time of great and exalting excitement. The country was up in arms, the war was on, in every breast burned the holy fire of patriotism; the drums were beating, the bands playing, the toy pistols popping, the bunched firecrackers hissing and spluttering; on every hand and far down the receding and fading spread of roofs and balconies a fluttering wilderness of flags flashed in the sun; daily the young volunteers marched down the wide avenue gay and fine in their new uniforms, the proud fathers and mothers and sisters and sweethearts cheering them with voices choked with happy emotion as they swung by; nightly the packed mass meetings listened, panting, to patriot oratory which stirred the deepest deeps of their hearts, and which they interrupted at briefest intervals with cyclones of applause, the tears running down their cheeks the while; in the churches the pastors preached devotion to flag and country, and invoked the God of Battles beseeching His aid in our good cause in outpourings of fervid eloquence which moved every listener. It was indeed a glad and gracious time, and the half dozen rash spirits that ventured to disapprove of the war and cast a doubt upon its righteousness straightway got such a stern and angry warning that for their personal safety's sake they quickly shrank out of sight and offended no more in that way. Sunday morning came — next day the battalions would leave for the front; the church was filled; the volunteers were there, their young faces alight with martial dreams — visions of the stern advance, the gathering momentum, the rushing charge, the flashing sabers, the flight of the foe, the tumult, the enveloping smoke, the fierce pursuit, the surrender! Then home from the war, bronzed heroes, welcomed, adored, submerged in golden seas of glory! With the volunteers sat their dear ones, proud, happy, and envied by the neighbors and friends who had no sons and brothers to send forth to the field of honor, there to win for the flag, or, failing, die the noblest of noble deaths. The service proceeded; a war chapter from the Old Testament was read; the first prayer was said; it was followed by an organ burst that shook the building, and with one impulse the house rose, with glowing eyes and beating hearts, and poured out that tremendous invocation God the all-terrible! Thou who ordainest! Thunder thy clarion and lightning thy sword! Then came the “long” prayer. None could remember the like of it for passionate pleading and moving and beautiful language. The burden of its supplication was, that an ever-merciful and benignant Father of us all would watch over our noble young soldiers, and aid, comfort, and encourage them in their patriotic work; bless them, shield them in the day of battle and the hour of peril, bear them in His mighty hand, make them strong and confident, invincible in the bloody onset; help them to crush the foe, grant to them and to their flag and country imperishable honor and glory -- An aged stranger entered and moved with slow and noiseless step up the main aisle, his eyes fixed upon the minister, his long body clothed in a robe that reached to his feet, his head bare, his white hair descending in a frothy cataract to his shoulders, his seamy face unnaturally pale, pale even to ghastliness. With all eyes following him and wondering, he made his silent way; without pausing, he ascended to the preacher's side and stood there waiting. With shut lids the preacher, unconscious of his presence, continued with his moving prayer, and at last finished it with the words, uttered in fervent appeal, “Bless our arms, grant us the victory, O Lord our God, Father and Protector of our land and flag!” The stranger touched his arm, motioned him to step aside — which the startled minister did — and took his place. During some moments he surveyed the spellbound audience with solemn eyes, in which burned an uncanny light; then in a deep voice he said: “I come from the Throne — bearing a message from Almighty God!” The words smote the house with a shock; if the stranger perceived it he gave no attention. “He has heard the prayer of His servant your shepherd, and will grant it if such shall be your desire after I, His messenger, shall have explained to you its import — that is to say, its full import. For it is like unto many of the prayers of men, in that it asks for more than he who utters it is aware of — except he pause and think.” “God's servant and yours has prayed his prayer. Has he paused and taken thought? Is it one prayer? No, it is two — one uttered, the other not. Both have reached the ear of Him Who heareth all supplications, the spoken and the unspoken. Ponder this — keep it in mind. If you would beseech a blessing upon yourself, beware! lest without intent you invoke a curse upon a neighbor at the same time. If you pray for the blessing of rain upon your crop which needs it, by that act you are possibly praying for a curse upon some neighbor's crop which may not need rain and can be injured by it. “You have heard your servant's prayer — the uttered part of it. I am commissioned of God to put into words the other part of it — that part which the pastor — and also you in your hearts — fervently prayed silently. And ignorantly and unthinkingly? God grant that it was so! You heard these words: 'Grant us the victory, O Lord our God!' That is sufficient. the whole of the uttered prayer is compact into those pregnant words. Elaborations were not necessary. When you have prayed for victory you have prayed for many unmentioned results which follow victory — must follow it, cannot help but follow it. Upon the listening spirit of God fell also the unspoken part of the prayer. He commandeth me to put it into words. Listen! “O Lord our Father, our young patriots, idols of our hearts, go forth to battle — be Thou near them! With them — in spirit — we also go forth from the sweet peace of our beloved firesides to smite the foe. O Lord our God, help us to tear their soldiers to bloody shreds with our shells; help us to cover their smiling fields with the pale forms of their patriot dead; help us to drown the thunder of the guns with the shrieks of their wounded, writhing in pain; help us to lay waste their humble homes with a hurricane of fire; help us to wring the hearts of their unoffending widows with unavailing grief; help us to turn them out roofless with little children to wander unfriended the wastes of their desolated land in rags and hunger and thirst, sports of the sun flames of summer and the icy winds of winter, broken in spirit, worn with travail, imploring Thee for the refuge of the grave and denied it — for our sakes who adore Thee, Lord, blast their hopes, blight their lives, protract their bitter pilgrimage, make heavy their steps, water their way with their tears, stain the white snow with the blood of their wounded feet! We ask it, in the spirit of love, of Him Who is the Source of Love, and Who is the ever-faithful refuge and friend of all that are sore beset and seek His aid with humble and contrite hearts. Amen. [After a pause.] “Ye have prayed it; if ye still desire it, speak! — The messenger of the Most High waits!” It was believed afterward that the man was a lunatic, because there was no sense in what he said. 8. Medicaid has a spend down. I paid more than $600.00 for the month that I had an appointment. If I could not afford the spend down, no doctor appointment. I put away money each month untill I had what was needed. Madicare cost me near $100.00 per month. I also had my out of pocket expense that Medicaid and Medicare did not cover. Not free. I really do not wish to hear of you getting sick but I do want you to think about what could happen if you were to suddenly lose it all. Just take a little bit of time and imagine where you may be if you were to suddenly find yourself in such a position. I never did as I always thought that I was far to healthy and strong to ever fall ill. But then I was much younger then and thought of myself as indestructable. I really do hope that others stay safe. It is the reason that I harp on about being careful and to learn more about AIDS. I wish that people would take a little bit of time and go see, firsthand, what those in a bad situation have to go through to live each day. I really wish that you would take that time and go talk to those who truely need help. To see the fear in their eyes about what is happening to them will give you a new perspective. To hear their story firsthand will make you realize that it could be you. OK, you got me there When I had insurance there was a fair amount of out of pocket expense that was managable. Insurance companies are funny about paying for what they deem to be "unproven" treatment even though the FDA fast track it into the system. The V.A. paid for some of the treatment but with the V.A. you are on sliding scale as I am sure that you are aware of. I never complianed about paying as I made near $50,000 a year in the factory. 12 hour days monday through friday and usually 8 or 10 on saturday. After the insurance was gone I was placed on COBRA untill it ran out. The V.A. stopped my meds shortly after. I was on medicaid untill the State of Missouri decided that it was no longer going to help people in need. They went as far as taking wheelchairs from paraplegics. They dumped near every AIDS patient. They cut funds from children with serious health problems. They refused medical care to ederly. Recently medicaid has been reinstated for most. I have yet to get my confirmation that I will be covered but was told by my caseworker that I will be. I went ahead and scheduled an appointment at the request of my caseworker. If I do not get the confirmation, I will have to cancel. The visit with all involved cost more than $3000.00. I paid that for the last visit two years ago out of pocket. To do the required number of visits for AIDS would run me more than $10,000 per year. If I were to be placed back on meds, without some sort of help I could not afford it. Meds cost well over $10,000 per month. It's outrgeous. Sorry if I get a bit emotional at times. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  9. So nice to be so well covered, whether by mothers insurance or your job, is it not? I had great insurance. I paid near $20.00 a week for it through work. When the job went to Mexico, I lost my insurance. I lost my meds. I've looked for other employment but, I am not in the best of health and fail every physical. This makes me somewhat unemployable. I do work a small business printing t-shirts and doing embroidery from my house to supplement the SSDI. I hope to be free of SSDI someday. Untill then I am at the mercy of a broken healthcare system. I want to see a major change in this system that I know could work providing that the right be are in place to oversee it. If large corporations can manage the flow of their programs then the U.S. should be able to do the same. A little lesson in Lean Manufacturing should be implemented to weed out the waste and find the systems that do work. It works for corporations it would work in the healthcare system. But, you are not in the same situation as others like myself so, you have no understanding of how it feels to be denied when your life is on the line. We pay into the system. The system should pay us back. What we pay in is the same as paying into an insurance plan. I gurantee that if you did not have insurance and you broke your neck and were paralyzed from the neck down you would be in line like the others without insurance looking for the help that you would need. Your life can change in a heartbeat and you could find yourself at the mercy of the system. I never once imagine that I would be in this shape. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  10. Yeah, your solution is having evryone else pay for your tab. But hey you now have free health care so what do you care. So what if everynody is footin the bill for everyone else. FREE FUCKING CARE!!! Who in the fuck is paying my bill but myself???? You would deny healthcare to children. Your claim that I am asking for free care is laughable. I'll say it... I hope to hear of you someday losing it all and to be extremely ill. Maybe then after you lose it all you just may understand a little thing called compassion. How dare you call me a freeloader when I have payed for near everything concerning my healthcare. You are not in any position to debate healthcare with me nor with anyother person in need of immediate care. You can cry all the fuck you want and bitch because YOU had to wait 10 fucking hours for a stupid little fucking broken toe. Well whoopiefucking doo, I've been waiting for 5 years to get my meds back. Sheesh, your fucking sad. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. So, you pay every dime out of pocket? Or, are you using the same insurance that others are paying into. Does your employer pay for your insurance with you paying a small portion? Here we go... let's take away all healthcare for those who cannot afford it. Better to just let them all fucking die!!!! I stayed in bed. I did not run off to the ER to complain about a child being there and then go see a family doctor (how fucking nice that your family has a fucking doctor!) If you were to poll most of those you find in an ER you will find that very few have a family docor. You have a family doctor and YOU were there. WTF "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  12. Oh, boohoo, you torn a muscle. I'm so sorry, I'd send a get well soon card but, I don't give a damn when there are people who do have serious illnesses that do require immediate medical attention. A torn muscle is not one of them. Near all deep cuts that once required stitches can be patched with a butterfly. The last time I had stitches was to put my finger back on. Anything less gets a butterfly. Broken bone? Unless it is angular or sticking through the skin, I am wrapping it as that is all the doc is going to do. You said you broke a toe. You didn't know which one was broken????? WTF Oh, seeing that you have this unique ability to diagnose children while sitting in the ER, why not save the parents the time and just walk about dispensing your unique ability, Dr. House? Hell and YOU call ME Doogie Howser! If you don't want to hear it, don't bring it up. I am not the one complaining about sick kids being in front of me. I'll go out of my way to help children. I dispise those who would complain about a sick child. What is your contribution for helping sick children. I've recently volunteered to pester the people on my road to give to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I have good reason to help. My brother died of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and a cousin died of Leukemia. A good friend and a great skydiver I know is also battling a blood cancer. This money will also support rsearch that can help him and many like him. If you were to fall ill to such types of cancer it will also benefit YOU. I'd rather help than complain. Maybe you would like to complain about these people using someone elses money to get treatment for their children. Or maybe you can use your unique ability and call it "sniffles". Sheesh, I'd hate to think that there are more who think like you but, unfortunately there are. I'd rather be a part of the solution and not a fucking whiner like yourself. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  13. I AM a taxpayer. I want MY money to help ME and OTHER Americans. Don't think for one fucking minujte that YOU are paying my fucking bill. Since I lost my insurance and then medicaid and medicare (I paid for those each month. They are not free) I have paid every fucking dime out of fucking pocket. I have recently paid off more than $3000.00 in med bills out of pocket and got fucking nothing for it. You can sit fucking right where the fuck you are and think just what the fuck you want. You didn't pay one goddamn dime of my fucking bill. You whine like a goddamn sissy about a little broken fucking toe and your heartburn and then bitch about children being in the same ER. You are the fucking problem. Broken toe???? Suck it up and be a fucking man. There have been many reasons why I should had gone to the ER. Body tempeture above 105, vomiting for days on end, flu that is persistent, infections that takes weeks to heal. I can go on. I have a legitmate reason to go but, I don't. You have know real idea at all what is legit. You sit there and complain about the sick hoping for care and yet for a broken fucking toe you run to the fucking ER. Fucking sad! "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  14. Take some Tums. A broken toe????? WTF sounds like you were the one clogging up the ER. A broken toe can easily be taken care of by yourself. Hell, I've set my own broken arm and reset my own nose twice. I've had a few broken fingers that I've wrapped tight and have also broke a few toes. You run to the ER for a broken toe?????? And then you complain about a child that is sick??????? You have a selfserving set of priorities. You place something like a measely broken toe over the welfare of a child????? You complain about those who are in YOUR way as you say "Where I get pissed is at the ER which I have some great experience with.". Do you use the ER everytime you get a little boo-boo? The 10 hours you spent in the ER for something most kids shrug off would had been better spent soaking your toe in ice. If you hate the fact that sick children maybe in your precious way at the ER, stop going for such minor little things like a broken toe. Placing yourself before children is just fucking sad. Damn good thing those children are not on a sinking ship with you. ME, ME, ME first! All snot nose kids last! "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  15. How about stop jumping for a month instead of not being able to buy food? I've done 2 jumps in the last two months. Those jumps came from selling t-shirts and was part of doing business. How about not assuming that I am jumping my ass off. Last year I did a whole nine jumps. Most were paid by someone else for freefly coaching. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  16. Question is, who will build the weapons if no companys will build them, the government? Virtually all companies that build weapons also build civillian products. If boeing, nassco, MD, Intel, Dell, Microsoft, Lockheed, General Motors, Cummins, CAT, Cisco, Colt, Mossberg, Smith and Wesson, U. S Steel, chevrolet, Peterbilt, ect. ect. all stop making a profit, the U. S. economy would be much worse a depression than the Great Depression. All of the companies you have listed can do just fine without building weapons. Why not focus on products that help people instead of products that are designed for one thing only - killing huge numbers of people. Some in the humanrace, it seems, has not advanced one single inch since the days of the first humans throwing rocks at each other. The only thing they have learned to do is find more lethal ways to kill us. They are the most vile of the vile. They are sub-human. They pray for war. Without it, they are all out of a job. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  17. Well, I never stated that wars are started solely for the weapons industry to profit. I said take the profit out of war. Do not allow for corporations to boost profits during war. Why should corporation be allowed to raise their quarterly earnings from weapons sales while someones child is dying due to the use of those weapons? Maybe the families of the dead should be allowed to sue said companies? If the companies are not there for the profit, then maybe they are willing to do it at cost? If that were the case, not one single company would be there. Arms corporations exist solely to provide weapons and to profit from those weapons. I was under the impression that war profiteering was a crime. Eisenhower: "Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed," proclaimed former U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower. "The world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children... This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." http://www.globalissues.org/Geopolitics/WarOnTerror/Disorder.asp So, I wonder, who stands to profit in the $20 billion arms deal with the Saudis? Peace is bad business when your business is to sell bombs to people who wish to use them on others. This was written in 1997 but, is a good article and does relate even today. It deals with arms corporations "double dipping". http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0JQP/is_294/ai_30000848 "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 18. The IOM says different. More than 18,000 people die each year due to lack of coverage. The uninsured are most at danger in this country and do get substandard care if they get any care at all. The 18,000+ dead would also say that your statement is lacking credential. http://www.iom.edu/?ID=4660 "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  19. Damn, that was funny! Topnotch untill you have spent every dime and then lose your insurance. After that, you must decide on whether you should eat or give your money to some quack who is going to provide very little. I, most likely, will cancel my doctors appointment for Sept.. It is a choice between paying an outrageous dr. bill for very little treatment or maybe being able to eat a few days out of the month. Someone posted that she could make more money if not for those people who cannot pay their bill. That really says alot about how much that person cares about those in need. My salary is far more important than humans. Sad that the almighty dollar outweighs the needs of the sick and dying. Personally, I wouldn't give a damn about someone only making $50,000 a year as opposed to making far more if it means that I can get the medication needed. And why should I care about someones salary when the outcome of my illness is death. What is more important? Your salary or my life? Of course the person who is looking to make $100,000 a year will say that their paycheck trumps my healthcare! Money is nice but, when someone regards money more than they do human life then that person should not be in the healthcare profession as they tend to be cold and uncaring people. 20. Affordability is the number one hurdle that a huge number of Americans cannot jump. As many companies seek out ways to deny healthcare for employees they must also share in the blame when employees begin to fail at their jobs due to poor health. Unless drastic change for the better comes about soon in another 10 years we will be in twice the bad shape we are in today. Just research any past report and compare it with a recent report and it clearly shows just how quickly we are falling further behind in overall health. It's not that quality suffered it's that the cost to obtain quality care is so wide that many people just throw up their hands and say to hell with it and go without while hoping not to get sick. 21. The greed of the pharm co, has much to do with the problem. Not way off topic. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  22. http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdoc.cfm?index=6219&type=0 Not much has changed since that report; http://www.mchb.hrsa.gov/chusa_06/healthstat/infants/0307iimr.htm http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/43094.php "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 23. http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/41083/ It only takes a few keystrokes to research how deeply related war and profits are. Weapons merchants need war in order to turn a profit. So, they are responsible for their own choice at age 18? Then it is their own fucking fault when they get their 18 year old bodies blown to hell. Millitary recruiters have no business in the high schools looking for kids to send to their deaths so that they can fill their quotas. The age for war should be 21 and above. 24. Which is why eveyone comes HERE to get the care they can't in their native countries, of course... You should argue with those who wrote the report on disparity in healthcare. http://www.ahrq.gov/qual/nhdr06/nhdr06.htm I suggest that you actually read it before screaming bullshit. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  25. I understand that most doctors have their hands tied and that in order to keep their jobs they must abide by the rules given to them. I also understand that most doctors do disattach themselves so not become emotional. That tends to make them appear cold. In 12 years of dealing with doctors in the private sector and with doctors in the V.A. system, I've come to know how it operates and that the bottom line is how much money who have relates to the level of care you recieve. People are not viewed equally. The rich will be catered while the poor will get maybe an aspirin if they are lucky. I know that I come off sounding bitter about doctors. As I said, I realize that, for the most, their hands are tied. When my meds were taken from me it was most likely the decision of an administrator and not that of the doctor. Yet, the doctor plays the game and stops writing the scripts untill there is more money to pay for them. For that, I see that it is about money and not quality healthcare. Untill I have the money for care, I am just shit out of options. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
