  1. Oh, now we Freeflyers are "posers". Thanks for the label "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  2. Cats without tails are weird. You spelled "weird" wrong. I find that to be extremely weird. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  3. That is amongst the most ignorant statements about HIV I have ever heard. HIV is often passed from spouse to spouse due to a cheating husband or wife or couples in long term relationships. One may have no reason to believe the other is cheating and possibly putting them at risk. Implying that stupid people get HIV is an insult. I am far from stupid. Prior to testing poz, I was uninformed and knew nothing about HIV. Hell, I never even heard of it, only AIDS. Had no knowledge of how it could be passed. I was just a regular guy doing what near most guys would had been doing. I am much more informed, now. So to answer your question of "right????". Wrong!!!! "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  4. I'll second that. Also, most AIDS clinics do free testing year round so, there really is no excuse for not getting tested regardless of your financial situation. I tested poz 12 years ago after all other tests could not pin down why I was so sick (I first got sick down near Tonala Mexico in March of 93. We have been visiting the working girls at least once a week since entering Mexico in Nov of 92). The Dr. suggested an AIDS test. I told him there were no chance of me having AIDS as I am not gay nor am I a junkie but, did tell him of the girls in Mexico. I was more than shocked to test poz. It actually turned my world around Thought it was the end but, still kicking. I only wish that I could had put 1 and 1 together and had got tested as soon as I left Mexico. I know for fact that I had passed it to a few ladies as I never did the raincoat thing and "I knew for fact" that I could not possibly have HIV. If you "know for fact" that you could not possibly have HIV, do yourself and others a favor and go get the test. 5. Bellyflyers ARE responsible for any and all evil known to the humanrace. Simply put, they are not quite right. Come, come join us on the Darkside, where all is peaceful, serene and upside down. 6. That is somewhat true with film camera but I believe to be different with DSLR. As with film the shots I took with my old P3 35mm were every bit as good as those taken with my 645 medium format. What it really boils down to is a great lens and high end professional films. My film of choice was Portra as it came in a wide range of ISO's as well as B/W and color. I have also shot single 4x5 Tmax 100 in an old 1959 Polaroid Land camera with amazing results. I had to load a single sheet of film into the back of the camera where a film cartridge would go. This had to be done in total darkness and using a fumble bag was not possible due to the size of the camera once openned up. For exposure I used my Minolta Auto Meter IVF to calculate for distance, time of exposure and F-stop. F-stops on the land camera were defined as 1,2,3,4,5... so test shots were first made to figure out which numbers corresponded to known f-stops such as 2.8, 4, 5.6 and so on. After a full day of going back and forth from the darkroom to the street, I was able to come away with some fairly amazing shots. The two shots attached were taken with the Land camera. One out doors, overcast. The other was indoors using 3 strobes w/umbrella3 at roughly 5/1 and a silver reflector to reduce shadow. 7. I personally prefer Pentax and am looking forward to getting the new Pentax K10D. Due to having an inventory of Pentax K mount lenses and that standard 35mm lenses can be used on a Pentax digital SLR as the focal length is the same on their digital as it is on the film based camera (Pentax uses a sensor that is closest to the size of a 35mm plane. That and also the K10D is just one badass camera. As for lenses, I have a couple of macro lenses. My favorite lens is my Tamron 90mm SP Macro. Its F stops from a slow 32 to a fast 2.8. You can photograph the eye of a fly with amazing clarity. I normally used it to do portraits and some weddings as it is perfect for such work with its versitality to go either way. It was a pricey lens in 1999 at over $650.00 but, well worth it for a high quality lens. Personally, I'd recommend any Tamron lens for its given application. 8. I recall some years back, Jeremy Frenz (I believe it was) sticking his head out the door of the Kingair that use to be at Archway and losing his helmet at altitude. He chased it but quickly lost sight of it. Someone landed off airport at the end of the day and by chance landed next to it. The Protrack was unharmed and showed that the helmet reached (I believe) near 45mph in freefall. The helmet did not fair so well as one side of it was pretty well cracked. 10. I hope that people finally open their eyes and see the truth about how dismal healthcare is in this country. That being sick is not a need for healthcare. Only having money is. I know firsthand that having a terminal illness does not mean that a doctor will treat you. The very first question that they ask is how do you plan to pay for your visit. No money, no visit. It really pisses me off that our two-faced government is happy to throw billions to help AIDS victims in Africa and anyother place but will refuse to help an American. Maybe, I should get citizenship in an African nation. I'd have a much better chance of surviving. They are MY tax dollars, afterall. Some may not like Moore but, he does get people talking and that is what he does best. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  11. This is impossible to hide such information. Basically the drug does not exist until it successfully passes clinical tests, which involves A LOT of people. And some of them gonna talk about it. Impossible[?], maybe so but, without media attention certian findings are swept out of sight. A good example is marijuana's cancer killing properties that the federal government knew about for years yet, continued with a propaganda war on it anyways while serious research should had been done instead. http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig5/armentano-p1.html "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 12. An old friend of mine ranaway with the James E. Strates Shows carnival back in 1976 when he was 16. His father had to go down to Memphis to pick him up when the carnival learned how old he was and fired him. When he turned 18 he took off again and has worked the carnival ever since. He's been with Strates Shows since 78. Last time I heard from him was in 2001. Still married, makes great money. Has a home in Florida and one up in Michigan. He works different games on the midway. The guy can talk a million words per minute and have you completely reeled in hook, line and sinker. No doubt a true carny. Alot of people laughed at him way back then. Probally made more money than any of us from the neighborhood. Last I knew, they lived in an RV when on the road. I guess it's not a bad life if it fits you. 13. Who supports continuing the war? What I said was I support federal funding of war. I support bringing our troops home. I support pressuring Congress to tighten the purse strings to help make this happen. To the second part: You're misunderstanding private vs. federal funding. Oh, and it's just a big, huge fallacy. You presume WAY too much about anyone in particular--let's say me--for the simple fact one generally supports private funding instead of federal. That is abit different than when you simply stated that you support funding the war. As for federal vs private funding, why not have both. Private funding is great if one could garner enough attention to actually cause people and corporations to give. Hell, there are also tax breaks for giving to certian causes yet, even that fails to get the general public and corporations to give. Unless there is a well known face on the masthead not many are going to pay much attention to a cause. Cancer has its faces as does parkinson and alzheimer. AIDS did have a great outpouring of private funds but, it quickly wained when the celebs found another cause. I, for one, am glad for even the small amount of 2.6 billion of yours and mine tax dollars that is added to any private funds that are raised. If just a fraction of my tax dollars could be used in ESC research to find a cure for my illness it is money well spent. Am I understanding that you are for research as long as it does not come from your pocket (your tax dollars)? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  14. Not supporting going to war means very little when one supports continuing such war. Do you feel this way for all research? Say, maybe cancer or AIDS http://www.kff.org/hivaids/upload/7029-03.pdf. You may be abit angry to know that 2.6 billion of your tax dollars are being wasted on research. Out of a budget of 22.8 billion, it is a pitiful amount. I would suspect that a large amount is wasted on cutting through red tape to get anything done. Possible reason many are against federal funding is just that. The governments inability to do anything within a budget. But, I think that some dollars are better than no dollars at all. I also think it is real sad that this is what it comes down to, dollars - life. It kind of tells the whole story of what society believes in when it refuses to let go of an all mighty dollar and then turn its head so not to see someone elses misery. Out of sight, out of mind. I would think that everyone knows someone who could benefit from any kind of research be it be cancer, AIDS, MS,... whatever. I would also think that everyone knows that they too could be striken with an ailment at any given time and could benefit from their tax dollars being spent on research of any type. You may, however, be pleased to know that the government has wasted $456,100,000,000.00 http://www.nationalpriorities.org/publications/local-costs-of-the-iraq-war.html Also, see where your money is supposingly going http://www.nationalpriorities.org/charts.html "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 15. Please elaborate. Your link, which is very informative (thanks ), did not say much about current uses for ESC. ESC's have a greater potential soley because they have not yet matured and can be used to creat any part of the body, including T-cells (something that I could badly use). http://www.hon.ch/News/HSN/533590.html There is research on ASC that can also potentialy regenerate certian body parts http://www.medicalnewstoday.com/medicalnews.php?newsid=58221. If one can compliment the other and help speed research along to arrive at the best means of treatment then why would anyone want to hinder the other? Everyone knows someone who may benefit from this research. Everyone should be in favor for it. You may need its outcome someday yourself. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  16. What comparison??? The link showed a page that had a list showing ASC use but non for ESC. Fact is that ESC have far more use and potential than ASC. http://stemcells.nih.gov/info/basics/basics1.asp "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 18. Yeah, Albert Einstein believed in God; what an idiot that dude was. Wrong, he did not believe in a god but, was in awe of the world around him. I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotisms." [Albert Einstein, obituary in New York Times, 19 April 1955] "I cannot conceive of a God who rewards and punishes his creatures, or has a will of the kind that we experience in ourselves. Neither can I nor would I want to conceive of an individual that survives his physical death; let feeble souls, from fear or absurd egoism, cherish such thoughts. I am satisfied with the mystery of the eternity of life and with the awareness and a glimpse of the marvelous structure of the existing world, together with the devoted striving to comprehend a portion, be it ever so tiny, of the Reason that manifests itself in nature." [Albert Einstein,_The World as I See It_] "A man's ethical behavior should be based effectually on sympathy, education, and social ties and needs; no religious basis is necessary. Man would indeed be in a poor way if he had to be restrained by fear of punishment and hope of reward after death." [Albert Einstein, "Religion and Science", New York Times Magazine, 9 November 1930] "It was, of course, a lie what you read about my religious convictions, a lie which is being systematically repeated. I do not believe in a personal God and I have never denied this but have expressed it clearly. If something is in me which can be called religious then it is the unbounded admiration for the structure of the world so far as our science can reveal it." 19. I don't know. I can't begin to guess where your imaginary being would send me to. Now if it were my imaginary being then I would have an answer. My imaginary being would send you to Skydiver Hell where you would be called to gear up and then bumped to the next load continuosly for eternity for not believing in the his Holy Manifest "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." 20. The EBT card is in use in every state. http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:NwuoR64AlJYJ:www.mobudget.org/Food%2520Stamp%2520Report%2520Oct%25202006.pdf+missouri+welfare+card+program&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=4&gl=us The Food Stamp Program Is Efficient More than 98 percent of food stamp benefits go to eligible households. The Food Stamp Program’s error rate, or the sum of overpayments and underpayments to recipients, is at an all-time low, having fallen for six consecutive years51. And in 2003, only 4.5 percent of food stamp benefits represented either overpayments to eligible households or payments to ineligiblehouseholds. By comparison, the Internal Revenue Service recently reported that taxpayers underpaid their taxes by about 16 percent in 2001.52One reason the Food Stamp Program is so efficient is that USDA has eliminated the old food coupons. All benefits are now issued through Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards, which allow recipients to transfer their benefits electronically to a participating retailer. This haseliminated the need to print, transport, safeguard, distribute, track, and destroy the coupons, and created administrative savings for the government, retailers, and bankers. It has also helped fight fraud and misuse of benefits. Food Stamp recipients like the convenience and security of EBT. They used to receive an “Authorization to Purchase,” which they took to a food stamp office or bank to get their coupons. That trip, and the middleman, has been eliminated. Also, if an EBT card is lost or stolen, it is protected by a PIN and can be replaced. Many recipients also report that the EBT card reduces the stigma associated with using food stamp coupons, since it works like the credit or debit cards used by other customers. EBT is the required method of issuing food stamp benefits in every state. In the Missouri Food Stamp Program, the EBT card program was implemented on a statewide basis in 1998. The EBT card is mailed to the Food Stamp recipient within 5 days after the recipient receives notice of eligibility for Food Stamp benefits and can be used to purchase food at any grocery store thatdisplays the QUEST mark. The Food Stamp benefit is automatically replenished on the EBT card every month to prevent the wrong person from getting the Food Stamp benefit. In addition,as an additional precaution, the EBT card is “locked” for the day if the PIN code is incorrect in 4 tries. These measures help Missouri prevent Food Stamp benefits from being misused or stolen "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
  21. And there is always the War on Misuse of the Word "WAR" for Political Gain. But, but.. it makes them feel tough while standing safely back from the front and shaking their fist while others die or are being imprisoned. 22. i want to kill him I am sick and tired of your racist and hate filled views. You contribute nothing but hate. You are but a troll. I doubt if you are even a skydiver. 23. The "war on drugs" has focused primarily on marijuana. It is not even really a war on the plant itself but, a war on those who use it. It has, also, created cottage industries that rely on it remaining illegal. A person convicted must then support those industries. It is absurd that a conviction can get a person more time than a person convicted of murder. It is absurd that a person convicted can no longer apply for federal grant money for education while a person convicted of murder can. The "war on drugs" is a sham. Agencies such as the DEA and all others drug task forces thank their lucky stars each and every day for drugs as it keeps them in business. The amount of money they waste playing their game is sickening. What they do should be a crime. A person arrested for less than 1 joint can lose everything. All for a plant that has never killed anyone while tobacco and alcohol remain a legal commodity. The "war on marijuana" is not a public health issue. If it was then tobacco and alcohol should also be placed on the same list and any person caught using should face the same harsh penalties that pot smokers face. Legalizing marijuana would not be the death of this country. Legalization and taxation would rid us of the organized crimminal groups that control its movement. It would free up the courts, lessen prison populations, beef up state coffers, provide another crop for farmers and allow the police to focus on real crime. Sad that some politicians use it to be seen as "tough on crime". Use it to instill paranoia in the gulliable. The biggest danger that marijuana imposes is the legislation against it. When 70% of the country is against the criminalization of marijuana it is absurd to continue the war on it. But, politicians love to use the word "war". It makes them feel tough. Some interesting points concerning marijuana: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/dope/interviews/schlosser.html http://www.a1b2c3.com/drugs/mj004.htm Mayor LaGuardia: "That being so, the orderly thing to do, under our form of government, is to abolish a law that cannot be enforced, a law that the people of the country do not want enforced." 24. I hear that. I planned on staying Navy for 20 years, like my father did. After the Iranian Crisis and then our deployment to assist Iraq and all the crap that was revealed afterwards, I was very dissilusioned as to what our real purpose was. I just couldn't stay a part of something that was based on lies. You guys and girls are always welcomed in my opinion. Be safe.
