Your gonna get a lot of OPINIONS on this. So not to be left out here is mine. I have had great success with Bev Suits and Michigan Suits. I usually stay on my belly as I am not a freeflyer (freeflail maybe) and have had 9 (last count) Michigan's and 3 Bevs. I have never worn one out or had any workmanship Issues. All of my old suits when I "got rid of them" went to younger (newer) jumpers and some are still flying and are as old as 13 years. Fire Fly makes some good stuff too. Just by a suit for the particular style of flying you are wanting to do. Get it with the long lasting components as the longer the suits lasts the less expensive it becomes. Diplomats can give opinions. Mute point, I said Prosecutable. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I have not read all the documents, but the ones I have read are all "Opinions". The State Employee gives an Opinion on a particular person, or explains an attitude at an event. Not direct spying and and stealing of secrets. But if a person was spying and got caught. You live by the sword and die by the sword. Again, I think he is the Enabler and Handler but not the actual spy. If he broke an actual prosecutable law, prosecute. I would expect no less for any one else. "Tom Flanagan, a former aide to the Canadian prime minister, has called for Assange's assassination, while former Alaska governor Palin said he was an "anti-American operative with blood on his hands" in a Facebook message Monday. Mike Huckabee, like Palin a potential Republican presidential candidate, also said the person who leaked the information to Assange should be tried for treason and executed. " So one Canadian Politician called for his death. One American Politician Called for his SOURCE to be Prosecuted and then Executed. Another American Politician called for him to be treated no better than Al Jazeera's pretend reporters. And Four Faux News idiots said he should be assassinated. For any one trying to keep track. I think if any thing he is no better than any state sponsored spy and should be tried under those laws. He is the "Handler" in this case though, not the person who actually stole the classified Documents. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I forget, is msnbc a Liberal or Conservative News agency? Of course this would be better if we could have an all American owned and operated deal going on here. Then at least most of the Stimulus Money would go in a full circle here. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

When I got my coach card, my instructor told me that a coach CAN give a pull signal to a 'student' if there was an unsafe condition that existed and you need to end the skydive RIGHT NOW... If you see your 'students' bridle coming out and flapping around... do you: a) you wave off, and watch them track trailing a bridle... possibly getting a horseshoe b) give him the pull signal and get that problem resolved now? For other things (bad spot, high winds) you should have instructed your student that if (s)he sees you wave off, they should turn, track and pull, and if they see you pull in place, they should pull ASAP. Thats part of the pre-jump training. I have given the "Pull" signal to an Up-Jumper who had over 1000 jumps at the time. He had a container open after a funneled exit in a 5 way. The other 4 of us all stopped and stared a second and then myself and another jumper moved in front of him a each gave him the pull signal. The other two started tracking. The dude with the potential horse shoe pulled, he had massive line twists but, under a 220 foot 7 cell and at 9000+ feet, he had plenty of time to deal with it. max height for tandem students?
matthewcline replied to jf951's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If it is a UPT System (using the PD reserve) it is 500 lbs total weight. Other mixed and matched components, well that is a good question. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -
I am being honest, I do my job well, and no customer of mine has EVER had an injury to date (touch wood). You do things your way, I'll do them mine. You lot sure have a bee in your bonnet over this. Once again the focus of the conversation has moved from the point to a roasting of me. No wonder there are so many bullshit artists in these forums, this is what happens to honest people. Ego is pretty important in Seppo land, here we try to be humble and honest, egos get mocked. I will be honest and admit I do not know what the last few lines mean, but I gather it is a "sky god", "non-sky god" issue. HC is here, will stay here and is a less expensive means for a DZO to still give a Tandem Student a visual reminder/record of the fun time they had. HC is also as safe as the T-I using it. I can find NO incident where a HC caused the incident. All "Incidents" fall back on the T-I NOT doing the proper things when confronted with an issue to be handled. That being said, as far as SIGMA and Vector II Systems go, a T-I MUST still complete a full Handles Check after setting the Drogue. From the Manufacturer: "It’s important to check to see if the reserve cable is free from obstacles that could hinder its operation." "The rule about droguefall handles check was around before the handy cam came on the market. We don’t have a problem with using handy cams except when TI’s don’t do there handles check for the sake of a better video. That check isn’t there to cover our ass it’s there to cover the TI’s. If there is a problem on a tandem jump and someone dies or is hurt and a good lawyer has a copy a video where the TI doesn’t do a handles check, see what he can do with it in a courtroom. It’s a standard procedure." So, please continue to use HC and give the Student an option to have a video record/memory, just spend the second it takes to do a full Operating Systems Handles check. The brochure does not go over any procedure for Pre-flight, so it is not a good training reference material. I got this from Bill Booth, Mark Procos and T.K. Donley, who all taught my I/E Course. This info is in Module 9 of the UPT Tandem Instructor Certification Course (Current PP version and covered in the VHS/DVD). I have worked at some very busy places, making 20+ tandem Jumps a day at times. I have jumped at some pretty busy places and seen some different Techniques, I use the one I posted. I was just answering the question that you asked of Bill, but Bill did state a while back he was not a current T-I so I thought I would help out. HC is here to stay and is a good cheaper alternative for DZO's who can't afford to let the chance go by to make the customer happy, for example; a couple who wants to jump together. But it takes all of what, 1.5 seconds to look and touch all the handles? And since it is required by a Manufacturer who has retained its right to pull ratings, seems like a small concession to make for employment. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. Proper Reserve Pin Check for Pre-Flight: Open Reserve Pin Cover Inspect that the Pin is seated properly, lays flat. Rigger's Seal is in place With one hands thumb and forefinger grasp reserve cable above pin (now the Spectra cord) With the other hands thumb and forefinger grasp the reserve cable at the reserve handle Gently tug on the cable to ensure it is one piece and moves freely in the housing, taking care not to deploy the reserve, hence the one hand at the pin end. Trace the RSL lanyard from the pin to the Collins loop (ensure the yellow cut away cable for the left riser goes through the RSL) and on to the RSL shackle, ensuring it is routed properly Close the reserve pin cover Continue with Pre-flight (mandatory for all SIGMA's prior to donning) The reserve is now ready for a pre-exit inspection of looking through the clear window. The clear window was developed so that the reserve pin cover did not need to be opened in the Aircraft. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
