JAPAN! I'll be stationed at the base of Mount Fuji for a year. I'll be about an hour away from Tokyo. Quote I am so insanely jealous of you, I'd kill to get stationed there, japanese women are HOT!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

Once again you completely miss the point I was trying to get across, there's no point in trying to communicate with you anymore, you're filled with so much blind hate that you can't see anything that doesn't fall in line with your views. You expect something you rarely provide yourself, I've honestly lost count of how many times you've called someone brainwashed and discounted their argument simply because they make an effort to justify their position which could be considered to be supportive of right wing politicians. Kinda gets annoying when someone writes you off as being affiliated with a certain group no matter how far off the mark they are just because you disagree with them isn't it. Did I strike a nerve serving you up a bit of your own BS? You obviously missed where I agreed that YOU support the troops, as long as its in a thread where the general consensus is to support us, cause its the cool thing to do. Unfortunately you won't stick your neck out for us if someone in the military says something that in any way supports republican policies, I've seen you make comments countless times that write off young soldiers as mindless drones because they support the war in Iraq or agree with some of Bush's policies. I've never once said that supporting us means blindly following the policies of the administration, Bush is a fucking retard, I agree with you 100% on that, and most soldiers don't care too much for him anymore either, but despite our stance on Bush I guess we're all still tools of his administration because we are finding reasons to believe in the sacrifices we are making given the shitty situation we're in. And next time you want to accuse someone of being off the mark when they peg someone as being extremist on either side of the fence you may want to take a second to figure out where they stand on all the issues, i'm pretty far right when it comes to national security issues but other than that I'm either middle of the line or leaning slightly to the left, but I guess you'd have to take 5 minutes out of your busy schedule of turning every post into a slight against Bush to realize that. They do everything they can to take a kid and turn him into a tool to be used for national objectives as set by the leadership of the country. To suggest otherwise is naievete on a scale unbecoming someone who has been where you have been and done the things you have done. Quote You make comments that imply anyone who does not hold your exact opinion is brainwashed simply because they chose to believe something else. And more often than not you throw a few cheap shots in there against young soldiers with your debates then turn around in the next thread and rally behind them. Elite leftist in its purest form, use the soldiers as a platform to gain popularity because you're screaming for their support one minute then turn around the next and call them tools and brainwashed machines because they choose to draw their own conclusions instead of buying into the dribble that you post. Pick a side, you play up your military service to relate to us when its cool, and when the crowd is moving against the opinion of those in the military you turn your back on us, pretty underhanded and two-faced for someone who uses their prior service to solidify their stance in so many arguments. Kerry would love you. As for me saying nobody was using fear, I was referring specifically to the video of Obama, nothing was taken out of context, hell the OP didn't say a damn word, he just posted the video and let people draw their own conclusions, and Obama did say in no unclear terms in that video that he would work to dismantle our weapons programs. That isn't using fear, that's allowing people to decide for themselves, you and Billvon are the ones that twisted this into some little right wing conspiracy. And since you want to bring it up, if you want a good example of what brainwashed looks like you need look no further than your left wing heroes who all voted for the invasion, they fell right in line with what the "brainwashed" popular crowd was doing. Their service is still real - and this bill is still overly generous to an already well-compensated military. Unfortunately, this has been the US plan for Castro since the Bay of Pigs and that hasn't worked very well either.Quote Actually the CIA has made several attempts on Castro's life, they've just failed miserably every time. Unfortunately, I don't think the math works out. Let's say that 10% of any given population are racist. 10% of the minority is always still going to be less than 10% of the majority, so racists on the side of majority "win". It's not that the majority is per capita more racist, but that since they are the majority, they will still have larger numbers. Quote you bring up a good point, but do we really know what the ratio is?? It could work out in either candidates favor, personally I just don't want to see this election decided by either of those groups, whether they blindly vote for Obama because he is black, or against him. And on a side note, I'm really interested in seeing what the debates between these two are going to be like. We all know that Obama is the more charismatic speaker, but I think that is going to lose its luster when he starts debating McCain face to face and people realize that he really doesn't have a solid position on anything, he tries to give the big speech about change to dazzle his audience with BS while tap dancing around the question. That's just my take on it though, maybe he'll prove me wrong and win me over, this is the first time I've ever been a swing voter so I'm going to give him a fair shot. Of course the two candidates could always make it easy on us and do a bi-partisan ticket!! History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower

(I think GQ was noting the prevalence of solely race based decision making "For" Obama, but I'd suspect there's a contingent on both sides and, at best, we can hope all the idiots cancel each other out). Quote That's pretty much dead on the point I was trying to make, hopefully the idiots on both sides will cancel each other out so the people who choose their candidate based on the issues will determine this election. appease some of the fears of those uneasy about trusting a black man to run the country. Quote It's a sad state of affairs in our country when we have the largest primary voter turnout in history simply because a black man is running, countless people who have never bothered to vote before are showing up to vote without even knowing where the man they are voting for stands on many important issues, the only thing that matters is the color of his skin. Racism(along with idiocy) is alive and well in this country, only it's going a way we aren't used to seeing it go. I'm not exactly certain where I'm going wit this, but doesn't publicly condemning the soldier and calling the act "criminal" pretty much guarantee that Iraq will never have freedom of expression? Quote I agree that this wasn't a smart move on the shooters part, but why the hell does anyone deserve an apology?? I haven't seen the Iraqi government apologize for the bodies of soldiers being drug through the streets of Abu Gharib. Arabs are a bunch of little babies when it comes to things that insult them, they act like 10 year olds when they get their feelings hurt. Screw the apology. There's no reasonable way to determine which cases of PTSD would merit a purple heart and which ones wouldn't. Two people can go through the exact same thing in a fight and one comes out mentally damaged for life and the other is not the slightest bit bothered by it, does one deserve a purple heart and the other doesn't? And what about all the people who never left the wire, spent 15 months on a base, while the worst thing that happened to them was they heard indirect fire off in the distance and they come home with "ptsd" do they get purple hearts too?? If we're going to give purple hearts away for every little bump, bruise, and snivel that everyone in combat gets then I want mine for my hearing loss, bad back, torn LCL, the chunks of metal still buried in my hand and knee, and all the skin missing from my knuckles, just to be fair to everyone. My teammate cut his fingers open and needed stitches during a construction project over there, lets give him one too. I agree that PTSD is no easy condition to deal with, I have experienced it first hand to a limited extent, but it doesn't warrant a purple heart. Machida keeps his range and doesn't allow his opponents to crowd him -- Tito's strategy to ground-n-pound. Also, he's a "heads up" fighter, who doesn't blink, even during intense exchanges. Quote You are 100% correct in your assessment of Machida's skills, he's great at keeping his range and picking his shots from the outside as his opponent makes mistakes. However, one thing that hasn't been tested, his ability to withstand constant pressure, Machida is great at keeping the fight where he wants it when his opponent sets their stance and gets ready to attack, I'll give him that any day. Tito one the other hand, can bring a pace that he has never seen in a fight before, I won't go sso far as to say that Machida will crumble, but I will say that he has never been tested against someone who can keep the pace and wear someone down like Ortiz can. If Tito comes out agressive in this fight like the Tito of old, he will keep Lyoto on his heels the whole fight and could present a very awkward dilema, but if we see the Tito that a lot of people are expecting, who comes out strong in the first and then seems to lose his self confidence and backs down easily, this fight will definitely shift in favor of Machida. Bottom line in this matchup is that Ortiz has the power to control how this fight unfolds, so long as he's willing to cross the line and take a few punches. History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. Eisenhower
-
You know after thinking abou this match up some more there is something that keeps sticking out in my mind, like I mentioned before Machida has never fought someone as physical as Ortiz, and Machida isn't that big of a light heavyweight anyways. On any given day Tito probably has 20+ pounds on Machida, and in a fight where controlling the position of the fight can mean the difference between winning and losing physical strength can be the defining factor. You can put your money on the fact that Machida will end up on his back in the first, and his ability to weather Tito's storm is going to determine if this fight ends up in his favor.
