  1. Well, since our new DZ will be VERY close to Rantoul, I think all the local jumpers here, in Champoo-Banana, will know about the new dates However, I plan on printing out whatever you put up and posting as many as I can around the University of Illinois Campus in July.
  2. Well it looks like tourism to Mexico is about to increase dramatically I'll bet the Bush Administration will be PISSED. CLICKY "8:46 p.m. ET April 28, 2006 MEXICO CITY - Mexico’s Congress approved a bill Friday decriminalizing possession of small amounts of marijuana, ecstasy, cocaine and heroin for personal use — a measure sure to raise questions in Washington..."
  3. Are these the posters you're referring to? Or are you thinking of adding a new one? These two are already available for download from the WFFC home page: CLICKY1 CLICKY2
  4. The version you want is found on the Soundtrack to Finding Forrester If you purchase Israel's CD, you'll get THIS version, which is inferior to say the least.
  5. I will never forget when I cracked a rib being very, very stupid after a bad spot ... Here's the proof: CLICKY
  6. Sounds like you've got a bas VGA cable. Make sure the connector from the monitor on the back of your tower is pushed in all the way. Every time you bang on the tower, it's probably causing the loose connector to jiggle into place (it might also be causing other stuff on the inside to jiggle OUT of place ).
  7. I'm already here Counting the days. Pre-registered and already have twenty jump ticks paid for.
  8. Right-click the IE shortcut you use to open IE (or create a new shortcut), open the "Shortcut" tab, expand the "Run" listbox, and select "Maximized". Edited to add: You can also press F11 anytime to toggle full screen mode quickly.
  9. Forget the RSL! Why would you cut-away a main that is snagged to your head??
  10. The argument that isn't moot, and that students must be encouraged to consider, is whether it is very likely that there might be many more of you old farts around these days had more of you decided to use AAD's on a regular basis.
  11. My personal feeling is that there is far more bang for the buck in jumpers keeping themselves out of situations where an AAD may save their life. Walt It's not about the money.
  12. Magnatune has a lot of nice music that can be licensed (sync for video) for less than $100 per song - in many cases around $65. CLICKY
  13. I am trying to see this video but cant. Any help? It says its a DIVX file. How do I play this? Thanks CLICKY
  14. I don't think that post can be surpassed in this thread, and I'm absolutely positive the link can't (yes, I fixed it for the clicky-dependent ). That was flat-out fucking awesome!
  15. This is SO true. What is amazing to me though is that the DZO is being demonized in the process. It's the DZO's right to set the requirements for their DZ. Instead of whining about the DZO's decisions, people who are truly concerned with the future of the sport should instead OPEN THEIR OWN DZ's!! That way we'd all have more places to jump, and we'd all have a lot more choices.
  16. No, but I do have a penny jar for those that end up in my pockets, and like others have said it has artistic value. We use pennies mainly for entertainment. My wife likes to bag 'em up before we take a trip so that we can hurl bunches of them into the machines on the tollways We also like to bury them in the sand at the beach so we can watch the metal detector people dig ... Of course, pennies are also quite useful for filling tennis balls and calibrating them for various fall rates
  17. I don't know about the Cannon, but on the D70s it's a menu option. Cleaning mode flips the mirror out of the way and exposes the CCD.
  18. I did a bunch of reading and decided to skip the bru$he$. I ended up buying a package of PecPads, a bottle of Eclipse Cleaning solution, and a plastic spatula at Wal-Mart. I've cleaned my D70s a few times without a problem. HERE are some really good instructions.
  19. You know you love your dog when you just continue eating dinner even though he's drooling on your foot.
  20. At my DZ, we all have the same nickname ... Loser. HERE'S why.
  21. Nope, but I went ahead and signed up. Skydiving Forums sent me a birthday greeting, which I thought was kinda cool. Who knows what this one will do? It'll be interesting to see just how many message boards this community can actually support without collapsing in on itself. rl There's no limit to how many message boards the community will support. There are already lots of them around. DZ.COM is just the one that currently has the most registered users, but it's based on old technology. That really doesn't matter to most of the users here, but eventually, there might be "geeks who skydive" that will want to make use of features like RSS, OPML, and Blogs. Also keep in mind that the vast majority of users are "lurkers" and RSS feeds make lurking a breeze. I wouldn't have started a new site by having so many forums though; it just makes it look empty and more difficult to get discussions going. It's always better, IMO, to start with too few forums that can be split off later as necessary.
  22. Most of the time it's a hobby because I jump with my cameras to develop my video/photo shooting/editing skills. When I work on flying skills and canopy control, it's definitely a sport. When I do tandem videos or coaching jumps, it's a job (I definitely wouldn't call it a career though ). During the warm months (skydiving season in central Illinois), mainly due to the social aspects, skydiving is my life. So, my vote is "All of the above".
