Naw, it's never too hot to jump, man. It's just too hot to pack. A valid observation, indeed, but as far as I'm concerned, when it's close to 100 degrees every day and humid, it's too hot to do anything but be underwater! You have never done a 15000' clear and pull have you? Now THAT sounds refreshing!

I'm a Texan born and raised, left when I was 14. I still remember those Fort Worth summers, feeling like you could fry an egg on the top of your head. I love my Seattle summers. I'm in Fort Worth right now visiting my mom and sister. It's too fucking hot to jump, so I'll be heading over to Possum Kingdom to SCUBA dive in a couple of days instead

It's the only part of Texas I'd consider living ... Me too ... it's the place with the fewest Texans! :-D :-D

OK ... here are a couple ... it was fun looking through my old pics to find these. First Jump Course in '88 At a 10K race in '89

They are - and they all know it. LOL! I am loving 'Nilla...she just seems so fun. Yup ... 'Nilla loves people too; she's a real sweetheart.

Ha! You are absolutely right! PeeWee's buddies never last more than a few days. He tries to be gentle, but eventually, he manages to eviscerate them, one tuft at a time

If your RW skills are not sufficient to allow you to fly with them, relaxed, without any contact, you should not be doing tandem video. Period. You are creating a hazard! You will understand this, if you live long enough.

They are all BEEEEOOOOOTEEEEFUL! (Nice photography too!). Here are mine

Lisa, we're in Texas right now, otherwise I would LOVE to go diving with you!! Maybe next time???? You'll have to let us know.

There will be at least 600 jumpers. Could be as high as 2000. If there are less than 600 in attendance during the week ... I'll by you a case of fine beer.
-
I'll second that!

No kidding, like WFFC implied; that's what sick days are for !!!

Hey Streaker! Don't invite the whiners!! I think we'll all have a much better time in Rantoul if the whiners don't show up. Edited to add: Well, on second thought, if they get over it then by all means, they should come on over!

A long ass post it was! It was long on rhetoric and short on originality. All the arguments nomar (whomever that might be) made have all been made before (some are factually incorrect). Just a lot of whining. You're wrong about your opinion counting for nothing ... it counts orders of magnitude more than some anonymous whiner with one post rant who hasn't filled out his (her?) profile.

look at it this way... you won't be waiting long for any loads!

That wouldn't happen at my DZ. We never have 20 people there at the same time.

Which DVD recorder are you doing this with??

I Feel Like Cooking Something on the Grill...
ChangoLanzao replied to JENNR8R's topic in The Bonfire
I recently came accross a recipe for "wash", which apparently is something that you splash and paint on chicken while you BBQ it. I don't have the exact recipe, but it goes something like this: 1/2 Cup of vinegar 4 tablespoons paprika 1 teaspoon onion powder as much garlic as you want (there's no such thing as too much garlic) 1/2 teaspoon of white pepper 2 tablespoons of basil salt - a pinch, ... whatever 1 tablespoon dried mustard Grill the chicken slowly, occassionally keeping it wet with the "wash" ... Damn! Now I'm hungry. time to fire up the grill! -
This just in! In an effort to simplify the logistics of the humanitarian effort, President Bush has issued an emergency Executive order ceding California, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas back to the Mexican governmet. In an interview on Fox News 20 minutes ago the President said, "we hope that this unprecendented move will eliminate the need for a significant number of the population of the former U.S. territories to be transported hundreds of miles. Instead, we have requested that Mexico, in a gesture of good faith, will deport the remaining minority of rednecks to Louisiana to help repopulate New Orleans." ¡Viva Mexico!

Adding Drop Zones to GPS--Update
ChangoLanzao replied to tombuch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Fair enough. I don't really know if it's a cash cow, but perhaps that price to you would go up significantly if Garmin got sued. This is from Garmin's "Obstacle/Terrain" license: -
Adding Drop Zones to GPS--Update
ChangoLanzao replied to tombuch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think this approach could backfire on the skydiving community. It always makes me nervous when "Safety" is invoked in order to force an issue; even worse, is the fear of Liability. If I were in the business of manufacturing or even selling GPS devices it would make me very uncomfortable to think that I could be held liable for distributing a device without all of the current DZ's in the device's database. How much effort would I be expected to make in order to keep it current? Is it even possible to keep it current? Could I be held liable for not including other hazards like SCUBA diving sites for boaters to avoid? Assuming that it would be possible to keep such data up-to-date, suppose that a new DZ opens up and there is an incident before the USPA has submitted the dropzone data, would the USPA be held liable?? Should the FAA prohibit jumping in and airspace that that hasn't been updated in their database and distributed to all GPS devices? How would non-USPA dropzones make sure that the data gets to wherever it needs to get? Will municipal airports prohibit activities that haven't been registered with The Database yet? Will Garmin just simply label all of their devices as "NOT SUITABLE FOR AVIATION USES" ( I think they may already have such disclaimers, in which case all of this effort would do nothing to get the DZ's listed on hand-held devices. -
Do you talk to people at your DZ about DZ.com

Free 20'X30' tent on DZ row at the WFFC
ChangoLanzao replied to Fleahop's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Yeah ... that would be me I have all of the DZ.COM stuff that you gave me last year. I even bought a new and bigger neon palm tree light to replace the original one which broke. Everything is stored at our new DZ, which is only 4.5 miles away from Rantoul. We (Illinois Skydiving Center) used to jump at Paxton, IL (10 mi. N of Rantoul), but they banned skydiving at the Paxton Municipal Airport. Fuck 'em Now we have our own, private 3200' landing strip with a great big 50'X80' hangar only 15 min. from Urbana and 4 min. from Rantoul CLICKY Anyway, I'm more than willing to help you guys out, just let me know if you need anything for your tent.
