I generally like long hair on men as long as it is clean and well maintained BUT its also not a look too many men can pull off. When it looks good, its totally hot.

3. Before I bought my house, I lived in 3 different apartments in the same building, and I lived in that building for about 9 years. I moved from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom, then moved to a different 2 bedroom so my landlord could re-do the unit I was currently in. The last move was sort of in exchange for him giving me a short term lease since he knew I was househunting and would likely be moving within 6 months. And those moves within the same building weren't really as easy as you would think they would be. I still needed to transfer the phone, cable, gas and electric, plus you get a lot less help from your friends if they think its just a simple move across the hall or upstairs!

First, let me just say that I don't feel sorry for him, and I don't think he should return to the NFL after he serves his time. I hate what he did, and I hate that when the accusations first came out, several of his colleagues laughed it off like it was no big deal. But truthfully, in a way they have a point. Not that this is a racial issue in any way, but his story is getting more negative attention because he killed dogs. There are professional sports figures involved in rape, drugs, drunk driving and murder who get far less media attention and get to keep their jobs, sometimes even after they've been convicted and sentenced. Still, why should the Falcons or any NFL team hold a job open for a convicted felon while he serves his time?

15 Years Clean...But Not Sober. Does it Matter?

Carmex is like medicated chapstick, and its a little bit less waxy, too. -
It doesn't sound like they want him locked up. They want to keep his $300,000.00 for as long as possible and they're using the fact that the Mexican judge's decision is under appeal as an excuse.

Exactly- tapped, not tapped out, and there were good reasons for it. Everyone working in the mortgage business faces uncertainty right now, but some of the changes that are coming are long overdue. For the consumers, its going to be harder to get a mortgage loan and maybe people will be forced to buy properties they can actually afford- what a concept!

I agree. That's always bugged me. Its usually the newbies who don't do the math and think they are getting a great deal who get suckered. We like to think skydivers all follow a certain "code" and don't take advantage of other skydivers, but that just isn't always the case.

Have you ever wonder how or why the hell you know something?
tigra replied to eeneR's topic in The Bonfire
You ARE a freak! (Sorry, I don't follow directions all that well........) And yes, sometimes something along those lines will happen to me. And then there are times when I will remember some obscure bit of information just at the moment it comes in handy. That's better than the alternative though- not being able to remember something you KNOW that you should know! dooodooodoooodoooodooooodooooodooooooo (that's supposed to be spooky music!) -
DZ.com Weight-Loss/Fitness QUEST -the NEXT Week

Honestly, one big reason I only made 1 skydive in 2006 was my weight I made one jump in the early spring, barely got my jumpsuit zipped and went hopelessly low as soon as we transitioned to the 2nd point. I had no range at all and I felt so humiliated! I just had no desire to skydive until I could do it better! And on a limited budget, why spend the money when the jumps I was doing were only making me feel bad about myself? I realized I had been losing and gaining the same 20-40 pounds since I was 18- always gaining back a little more than I lost. Not only that, but when I looked back, I realized I was on a pretty regular 3 year cycle. I'd get disgusted with myself and lose weight usually in not in the healthiest way- keep it off for about a year, then revert back to my old habits, gain it all back with a little extra. Each time, it got harder and harder to lose the weight and it came back on even faster. So, last August, I finally started taking steps to change all that. So far, so good. No more "dieting", more portion control and common sense instead, but most importantly, trying to incorporate exercise into a regular part of my life. And so far, so good. But the real test will be how long I can keep this up. I can't afford to pat myself on the back too much because I still have weight to lose and I need to prove to myself I can keep it off. But the good news is that I AM floaty now. My jumpsuit I could barely zip last year now fits more like a wingsuit! But I can still arch, so I can still go fast when I need to! -

Jaye, I don't know how advanced I am. If I was that far advanced, I wouldn't need to pay someone to kick my a$$! I've been doing the cardio thing for several months now, slowly building up the endurance on the elliptical machine. (I remember when I couldn't do 10 minutes on one of them without feeling like I was dying!) But, I've been neglecting the strength training and felt like I didn't know where to start. Anyway, there is nothing wrong with starting slow and those personal training sessions can wait until you can get the most out of them! I think I am definitely getting more out of my sessions now that I would have 6 months ago. -

I really want to make the transition to morning workouts, especially for cardio. In the long run, I think it would work so much better for me, but I'm just not an early morning person. I'm going to try again for Thursday and Friday because I won't be able to go after work either night! We'll see how it goes! -

I hear you about the "10"- I've got one to break too-150- I've been hovering right around there for the past week or so. The DZ weekends don't help much, but at least they aren't really hurting me either! And even though the weight is coming down very slowly, I know I'm losing fat and inches which really is the most important thing. I can see and feel the changes. Still, that's not just a number, its another notch on the big scale! What's really funny is that my lowest "adult" weight ever was 125 and weighing 25 pounds more than that, I'm at least one pants size smaller than I was then. Go figure! Even though I've been seeing results from working out the past several months, I know I haven't been doing enough strength training and I finally decided to get serious about it. I paid for 3 personal training sessions at the gym and so far, after 2 sessions, this kid is kicking my a$$! He's been pushing me hard, but its a good thing! It looks like I'll be scraping up the cash to pay for a few more sessions! -
Did the conditions change from the time you boarded the plane? I've stayed on the ground because of the winds many times, and I've also scratched from loads when we had a long call and the winds changed during the wait. So far, I haven't been in a position where I felt like I needed to ride the plane down though. On borderline windy days, I'll watch a couple of loads land before I make up my mind.

As far as I know, there is no dz in Puerto Vallarta. There was one briefly for part of one winter a few years ago, but it didn't stay open for the full season and didn'r re-open the following year. And I don't know anything about Acapulco. You should be able to jump at Cabo and/ or Ixtapa but you should check their websites as your trip gets closer. I know for sure Ixtapa is seasonal, and I assume the one in Cabo is as well. Plan on bringing your own gear and flotation device, and remember the little stuff like rubber bands since you won't have access to a full service gear shop. You might not be able to make too many jumps because the pace at these seasonal dropzones is a little more laid back, but I've jumped in Ixtapa and its beautiful!

Where is the Best Place (Inexpensive) to Buy Flooring?!
tigra replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
This might not work with your "right now" time frame, but at least twice a year, probably more, Costco has coupons for their laminate flooring which makes it even more affordable- like $5.00 off each box or something? We did our whole basement without the coupon and spent maybe $1500.00 on the materials. It looks nice and it wasn't that bad to install but I did end up bringing in some help. -
That has no age limit. Its just as hideous on a 20 something guy!

Its a liability issue. I doubt anyone drives around our campground checking IDs, and I'm not suggesting they should, but if the DZ is serving or selling alcohol, they have a responsibility to follow the law and card appropriately.

Mine also took a long time to heal (at least a year) but the piercing itself didn't really hurt. When it was finally healed, I broke my ankle and needed surgery. I took it out and never put it back in. I won't do it again or have anything else pierced because it took so long to heal. Could be I'm just sensitive to piercings, who knows?

Any updated information on Orlando Amador's condition?
tigra replied to ckoehler's topic in The Bonfire
Thanks Sunny! That's where I thought he would be if it was serious enough to be airlifted out. They have an excellent reputation for head injuries there, so I think he's in pretty good hands. -

tigra replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I'm down 25 pounds, from 200 to 175, and holding. It sure is easier flying when you're light. I'm going to make sure I stay down here. -

Do you know which hospital he's in? And is there anything the "local" jumpers can do to help out? -

I'll check in when Summerfest is over and I've had a few days to recover and get back into my routine! -
I've got about 10 different playlists on my iPod just for workouts- anything from hard rock to country. I swear, my iPod is my best workout buddy! Lately though, I'm really into Latin dance music, especially for working out. It really keeps me moving! Reggaeton, Salsa, old Ricky Martin, stuff like that. Odd because I can't stand Hip Hop, Techno, Rap or "club mixes" as a general rule but I love the Reggaeton for some reason.

When I vacation in Mexico, I do. We usually stay at the less expensive hotels and leave a couple of dollars every day, a little more the day we check out. But the maids at these hotels only make a few dollars a day without our tips, they work really hard and when you do tip daily, you'll usually find a few extra surprises in your room when you return at the end of the day. Stuff like flowers, maybe an extra bottle of water, extra towels if they know you're cramming 3 girls in one room and you're all showering twice a day- that kind of thing. It never occurred to me to do this in US hotels until recently, and honestly, I haven't done it. I don't travel all that much, though.

I dropped about 2 pounds, plus the body fat % is creeping down and I am hitting the gym regularly. Of course that 2 pound loss was Friday BEFORE I spent the weekend at the DZ drinking way too much beer, and this coming weekend will be a long one- Thursday thru Sunday- Summerfest! Yeah! No gym at the dz, but a nice long walk through the corn and back to the hangar in 90% heat + humidity made me miss my workout a little less yesterday! And seriously, a walk like that at my weight (and condition) last year would have left me battling heat exhaustion.
