  1. I don't have a BodyBugg or a Polar, but I picked up a Mio from Walmart a few months ago. Its a watch, heart rate monitor and calorie counter. Its doesn't tick off the calories the same way the ellipitical at the gym does, but the heart rate monitor is spot on. I think I paid about $40.00 for it, not $400.00.
  2. I've been good with the workouts, but you are so right about the changing weather. I've been eating a lot more lately. I'm not gaining weight, but I'm not losing any either. Still, the work I've been doing with my trainer (and on my own) is really starting to pay off and show even if the scale isn't budging.
  3. We usually AREN'T looking for another one, they tend to find us.
  4. Looks like he found the right truck to be abandoned in. Good job!

    Wanted: Housecat

I've got one that meets all of the requirements except number 8. Plus he's never really been around dogs, so I'm not sure about 7. We don't have mice, but my guess is he'd take care of them if we did. BUT, I kind if like him in spite of the flatulence so he's not on the market. Sorry!
  6. OK, *most* of your list makes sense, but why Tandem Master or AFF Instructor? Not knocking either, but I don't see how they would make better cabana boys- they're probably too busy at the DZ on weekends to take care of your other requirements!
  7. I think I've had Fioricet for migraines in the past and it worked great. Sounds familiar anyway! In the hospital for my ankle, morphine made me sick, demerol made me sleepy without doing anything for my pain, and fentinol worked like a charm. Gotta love the responses you get when asking skydivers about pain meds!
  8. It really depends on what I need them for. I had a headache about 2 weeks ago that lasted several days and the only thing that worked was naproxen- (rx strength Aleve.) When I broke my leg, the vicodins worked just fine- even better with a glass of wine and a little herbal therapy.
  9. Goldfish are odd- most of the time they are pretty sturdy and low maintenance but then you change something about their water or overcrowd the tank and suddenly you've got issues with them. In my experience, cleaning the tank too often (or too thoroughly) isn't a good idea either- they seem to thrive on the bacteria- you think the tank looks gross and as a responsible "fish mama" clean it, change the water so its nice and clear then all the sudden your fish are sick! I HATE when that happens!
  10. Still, there are times when a workout makes me feel a million times better. Sometimes its hard to know until the next day when you're like - Oh gee, maybe that wasn't such a good idea.........
  11. Nah, the lead in lipstick story has been going around for years and years. Not exactly news.
  12. At my old job, if I tried to send an email with any kind of profanity, I'd get an error message. Its habit now. I also think you are right about the age thing- you can even see it in this thread. The younger women aren't offended- its just a word.
  13. Any idea why? Blues, Dave I just think its a really ugly word- maybe its the attitude behind it most of the time its used? Seems to have a lot more venom than b*tch or twat or dick or prick.
  14. I was thinking the same thing. Paris, Nicole and Lindsey Lohan are all "repeat offenders" as well, not to mention Courtney Love who had assault and drug charges against her in at least 2 states iirc- she went to rehab a few times and never served a day in jail. Nicole quietly spent what? 12 hours in jail? Lindsey will get about a day, and Paris served less than a week, right? Most in a private "medical ward" and the only reason she was in so long was because she made such an a** out of herself.
  15. You know what? There aren't too many words I won't use, or too many words I am offended by. The "C" word is both. I find that to be one of the nastiest, ugliest words out there.
  16. OK, so I re-read your first post- the stuff about headaches/ flies/ holding your head in a weird position. I had a killer headache for days that didn't feel like one of my "normal" headaches. Really painful, it lasted for days and nothing really worked until I tried naproxen. I finally realized it was/is probably a muscle strain in the back of my neck from some of the upper body work I've been doing with my trainer (like flies) and clenching/ not breathing properly through the exercise. I guess I need to be more careful and more diligent with my before and after stretches! DOH!!!! Oh, and personal training sessions after a week with no workouts are pretty brutal .......... But in a good way, honest ..........
  17. The article in the link Keka posted says all 10 bodies have now been recovered. Condolences to all involved.
  18. Well, this week, Monday is the only day I worked out. I've had a killer headache all week, and I think my workout on Monday might have made it worse. (Some days when I am kind of dragging, a workout actually makes me feel 100 times better, so I gave it a shot .......) Anyway, my weight is about the same this week in spite of "hormonal eating" last week and not working out this week. I won't make it back to the gym until maybe Saturday, so I guess next week I'll have to work extra hard! One interesting thing- my office is ALWAYS "business casual", and Fridays are supposed to be casual. Tomorrow we have VIPs visiting and they want everyone to dress "business professional". I realized I am about 4 sizes smaller than I was the last time I had to dress "professionally". I gave away all my old suits (which I could not have worn anyway) and I have no idea what I am going to wear. I've picked up some new clothes, but no suits or anything like that. I guess in the long run, that's not such a bad problem to have, but when I show up an hour late tomorrow because I was digging through my closet for something appropriate to wear, I don't think my boss will understand!
  19. Actually, she's been warned time and time again that she WOULD lose her kids if she didn't get her act together and still she didn't comply with the judge's conditions. Forget the whole public unravelling and living under a microscope for a minute- if her children were remotely important to her, wouldn't she have made an effort to comply? I can't feel sorry for her- I DO feel sorry for the little boys.

    CATS!

    What a great picture!
  21. My mom is probably even more "challenged" in that area than me! She hems her pants with iron on tape!
  22. I am ordering one of those this morning. -I thought I had already bought it...guess I put it in my 'cart' and forgot to finish the transaction! I was wondering why shipping was taking so long! I have a love hate relationship with mine. I still call it the "Insult-O-Meter" and it still calls me FAT! I was hoping it was a bit off, but they used a machine on me at the gym that gave about the same reading. (I swear, most of my fat is in my boobs now!) Whenever anyone tells me how good I look these days, I go back to my trusty scale that reminds me I still have work to do ........
  23. Honestly, I think people who are serious about weight loss and/or fitness programs adopt many behaviors associated with eating disorders- frequent weigh-ins, calorie counting, extra workouts after a particularly indulgent weekend. The key is not to take it to an obsessive or unhealthy level, I guess. And yes, I typically weigh myself first thing in the morning, after I pee .........
  24. I tend to weigh myself every morning but also try to average my weight throughout the week. I pay more attention to how my clothes fit and how I feel than the number on the scale, but I still like it when that number goes down! Since I've got one of those bady fat monitor scales, sometimes I'll also weigh in after I come home from a workout- I usually weigh a little more than I do first thing in the morning, but my body fat % is a little lower.
  25. My vote goes to Europa by Carlos Santana.
