Reminds me of some crap an old manager tried to pull- she wanted us to rate HER "anonymously". She insisted everyone turn one in then used (or tried to anyway) what we said against us at review time. And when our corporate office sent out "anonymous" employee satisfaction surveys, she tried to intercept them all before they went out. I'm pretty sure that came from local upper management but at that point I had had about enough of her and called corporate and complained about what managment was making us do with the "anonymous" surveys. I don't think I was the only one, either. Next thing you know, we're getting emails apologizing for the "misunderstanding" and telling us that we were supposed to use the pre-paid, pre-addressed envelopes to send the surveys in. Bottom line- I'm leery of ANY employee surveys and this one in particular just sounds like trouble. You and your co-workers will find out exactly what everyone else said no matter what. I can't even imagine why your boss would ask you to do something like that, especially in such a small office.

I've had two injuries requiring a trip to the ER, surgery and follow up care. I never lied to the doctors, nurses, ER staff, etc and I've never had any real issues with my employer provided insurance. However, when the insurance company's law firm sent out the form asking what happened (to see if there is anyone THEY can sue) I just said "I fell" and left it at that. If they really want to know, they can look at my medical records. I do know someone who had a serious accident that involved airlifting, intensive care, multiple surgeries, etc. He found out the hard way that his insurance had a "dangerous sports" exclusion. I've tried unsuccessfully more than once since then to get a copy of my health insurance policy to read all the fine print.

Fitness Babies...We Didn't Really Check in on Friday Did We?!
tigra replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
I survived my session with the trainer last night- a really good full body workout plus 30 minutes of cardio beforehand. Yeah! Then I get to the office this morning and a vendor has dropped off a ton of breakfast treats- bagels, sweet rolls and muffins! Geez- why don't they bring in stuff like fruit and yogurt ever???? -
I had a Milo too, same color coat and everything! I named him after the Milo in the movie Adventures of Milo and Otis. He was a great kitty!

I've got to agree. I've got a real soft spot for the orange tabbies. I've shared my home with two of them and they were awesome cats.

Fitness Babies...We Didn't Really Check in on Friday Did We?!

I knew it would be difficult to stick to a 4-5 day a week workout schedule over Christmas and New Years and I'm OK with that. I'm also OK with my trainer kicking my ass last week- that's what I pay him for. Its just that with that whole combination of factors, he REALLY kicked my ass last week. I still made it to the gym on Saturday, sore legs and all. I just didn't make it Sunday, Monday or yesterday ....... Good louck sticking to the early morning cardio. One thing I LOVE about doing cardio early in the morning is the energy I have all day long because of it. But - and maybe this is just me - I also have a huge appetite all day long on the days I work out in the morning. doh! -

Weeeelllllllllll, in addition to all the holiday indulgence, I've been fighting off a cold for the past 10 days or so. Between that and the holidays and work, I haven't squeezed in too many workouts lately! I did work out with my trainer last Thursday and I can't believe how exhausted I was. I actually had to stop a few minutes early which I NEVER do- not with the sessions I am paying for anyway! I still don't know if he was pushing really hard to test my limits or if I was just being weak and wimpy! Judging from how sore I was the next day, I'm thinking maybe it was a little of both! Anyway, hopefully I'll get back on track starting tonight. I've got another session with my trainer, so wish me luck! I'm pretty sure I only gained about 5 pounds since Thanksgiving- all things considered, that isn't so bad....... And I LOVE how Joe is offering the heart rate monitor as an incentive. -
That tends to be a major problem with almost any novel they turn into a movie. Chances are, the more I love the book, the more disappointed I am with the movie. I may look for this book and read it now, though. Sounds like it was better than the movie, and I thought the movie was OK. Not great, but decent.
-
Wait- they adapted a novel into a movie and managed not to completely leave out the "ethical argument" in favor of special effects and a good body count?? How often does that happen?

I just saw it yesterday and I'm going to go with the "just OK" opinion. I do think Will Smith did an good job, though. One plot thing that kind of bothered me- he makes a point of saying the "dark seekers" or whatever they are have no humanity left, no survival instincts, etc. They're essentially just mutant animals which I guess is supposed to make it OK to trap and experiment on them, BUT he's apparently been been doing that along. Plus, they are able to able to set a trap for him and launch an attack on his home. Doesn't that make them sentient beings, not just mutant animals? And when they go after him, aren't they simply attacking the person who has been attacking and killing them? And finally, if they are simply evolved/ mutated humans, do they really need a "cure"? I know, its just a movie......

Christmas Week Fitness Freaks... Who's avoiding the holiday pigout?
tigra replied to MrFreefall383's topic in The Bonfire
Not me, sorry! Work Christmas party on Friday, family party Saturday, and we entertained yesterday complete with my special home made egg nog. Lots of food, lots of booze, very little sleep or exercise. I do have a session with my trainer on Thursday and there's a remote possibility of hitting the gym Wednesday. We'll see. -
I call BS- eggs mix with virtually anything and breakfast sounds yummy.

Truthfully, I get more tired than inspired when I read your posts. But I get what you are trying to say, honest! -

Reading your posts makes me feel like a slacker, Dude! I worked out last night and had a really good session with my trainer on Wednesday, a light workout on Tuesday, and skipped Monday because of a headache. But honestly, with the holidays and stuff, I doubt I will hit the gym again until next Thursday. C'est la vie........... My goal is to limit my holiday weight gain to 5 pounds! -
Its a little weird, but pretty good when done right. Still, its not exactly pizza anymore, is it?
-
Call it the ultimate one stop shopping excursion- cheat on your wife AND go to confession! How convenient is that?
-
This was a "Lin's Bin" on WXRT this morning. He played some "Christmas Mouse" song at the end that gets my vote!
-
It sure is! That's where my father met his mistress- choir practice, no less. The entire choir and the priest knew about and supported the relationship. They all went out drinking together.

My trainer expects me to have at least a snack or small meal before a session- he always asks. I usually go straight from work so I keep stuff like cereal here at the office. And for early morning workouts, I also need to have something- at least a protein shake or an energy bar. I find for me personally, if I don't, I will be starving after the workout and eat pretty much anything that isn't nailed down.

OK, "Clueless" then. That works for me.

Its actually a heavy car and surprisingly powerful. It looks a little like the old beetles, but that's where the similarity ends.

Well, I think its actually more of a loss of bladder control BUT ............. There is this honey based body lotion that feels really good but smells like .... PEE. I remember selling a lot of it to old ladies back in my retail days.

Well, I can't view these from work, but I LOVE the "Buy Bigger Shirts" one they show on TV. Cracks me up every time.

Gracias! It something I've been thinking about for awhile. A few years ago, I took some classes, but with a job change, the location is no longer convenient and the classes were pretty expensive as well.
