How does it work with grammar? I find my vocabulary and pronuciation are halfway decent, but my grammar sucks. Specifically, I have a really hard time with all the different verb tenses.

Is Balmers still there? Ahhhh- memories!

There's really only one thing women need to know about men (OK, maybe 2) and most of us already know it. Boys are stupid! And all men are really just boys. There is no need to keep re-posting this nonsense unless it makes YOU feel better- we don't need any extra reminders of your limitations! And when we post our "rules", we're really just trying to help.

Dz.com FITNESS Freaks...What's Goin' On In Your World?
tigra replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
Prayers, girl! I HATE running! I have great endurance on the elliptical but I just can't do the running thing. My trainer had me doing sprints last week- I was DYING! We had a goody basket delivered at work on Tuesday- cake, cookies, brownies, etc. BAD BAD BAD! At least I am working out regularly still. I hit my legs pretty hard Monday (a darn good workout on my own with no trainer, so I was happy with that!) Tuesday and Thursday I did the Capoeira class at the Ballys, and on Wednesday, my trainer and I worked arms harder than I've ever worked them before. Yowza! I was really expecting them to hurt yesterday and today, but so far, they're fine! I've got my gym bag with me today, but I haven't decided whether or not I will go to the gym after work. I'm kind of hit or miss on Fridays- I'd just as soon go home, order Chinese and open a bottle of wine but a workout would be so much better for me! I'm hoping the classes and my weekly sessions with my trainer will help keep me going to the gym regularly all winter. Last winter, I really slacked off and didn't start up again until March. I don't want to do that this year! -
Do you realize this thread is right above the "I just got sacked" thread?

Stroking? Pole? ACME has a point! Read my pm and get a BOB. Love Ya, girl!

He's 12 years older than me- "boyfriend" doesn't seem right and "partner" sounds "gay"! (not that there's anything wrong with that........) I suppose I could refer to him as my room mate!

I've had two ankle fractures (5 years apart) with plates and screws, and I opted to have all the hardware removed both times after the injury healed. I personally found that the metal restricted my motion and caused pain. I made a much more complete recovery once the metal was gone (pretty much 100% on one and close to 100% on the other.) I'm just putting that out there because that's a lot of metal in your foot which *might* cause you problems down the road. Obviusly, its way too early to remove any of it, but you might want to ask your doc if it CAN be removed at a later date. Some hardware is meant to be temporary and some is meant to be permanent unless it causes problems. Some doctors are reluctant to remove it and need convincing. And don't rush the weightbearing thing either. Try to be patient. I know that's easier said than done.

My SO uses that expression when he's talking about a buddy. I've always thought it was kind of an odd term to use but he's definitely straight.

Our QC expert is Roger, who is about 18 months old now. This year we'll find out whether or not a Christmas tree is acceptable decor for him. Last year, we didn't even bother because we knew it wouldn't last and all the beautiful ornaments I have been collecting my entire life would have been toast.

Amen to that!

anybody know anything about hard anodized cookware?
tigra replied to payback462's topic in The Bonfire
One more thing- in that price range, you can probably get one or maybe two good pieces but not a whole set. Or you can get a whole set of something not as good. Personally, I would prefer one or two really good pieces that will last forever over an entire set of something that won't- but that's just me. -

Calphalon- although its hard to find the regular calphalon these days- every place sells the non-stick variety- decent but not necessary. The fact is, if you cook properly with the anodized stuff (heat the pan first, then heat the oil, then add the food) your food really won't stick. Plus, it withstands much higher temps than non-stick surfaces. Its pretty much indestructable and unlike cast iron, you CAN wash it thoroughly without worrying about ruining the "seasoning". Good Stuff! -
The Wave of Mortgage Defaults is Not such a Bad Thing
tigra replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Actually, it is about as simple as he makes it sound. The message here is stupidity and greed actually do pay off. And if you think freezing interest rates on these ARMs won't have a far reaching impact on the financial market, think again. -
Didn't you dump him?

I got sick of this season after the first few episodes- another season of people in their underwear- ugh! I couldn't take it! And Courtney? I'm sorry, but I think her emaciated condition before the show even started is appalling on so many different levels. I felt like writing to the show. I thought you had to be able to pass a basic physical to get on the show. I remember seeing one challenge where she literally could not lift and swing a machete even once, and that was very early in the season. She was so pathetic and weak, I have no idea how she's still there and hasn't been taken off by medics. Then again, she's probably used to living on nothing more than a leaf of lettuce a day- all those snails and stuff are extra. So who is left? Obnoxious, whiny queen, rude nasty anorexic chic, obnoxious bossy chic, lunch lady and hot girl? Can't say as I care all that much but the least offensive of all of them is probably Amanda!

My youngest, Roger, "torments" both of the other cats- he's just under 18 months old now. I've got another male, Spike who is about 3 and an 8 year old female, Tamika. Spike is huge, a lot bigger than Roger but instead of fighting back or putting Roger in his place, he mostly just tolerates it. The female (smallest of the 3) acts like she hates it, but every now and then, I see her instigating the trouble. Still, there are times when Roger is a little too wild and we need to give him a "time out" in the back room.

They get over it pretty quickly, but honestly, I hope you aren't expecting him to stop chasing Daisy all over the house. Getting him neutered should keep him from spraying and humping, but won't change his personality.

Ditto- I've had good and bad bosses of both genders. It really doesn't matter. I prefer a boss who is competent.

I had a cat with chronic kidney problems, but no diabetes. For his last 2 years, he needed fluids regularly and I learned to do that myself at home. He was a really sweet good natured cat and he let me do it. Managing his diet and giving him fluids gave us a few extra years together. He lived to the ripe old age of 17, a good life, too, right up to his last days. Not bad for a cat who had kidney problems from the time he was 7 or 8. You can manage the diabetes too.

Still hovering around the same weight, still hitting the gym on average 4 times per week, mixing the cardio with strength training. I worked with my trainer on Wednesday and he did one of those "body age" assessments. Lets just say I was hoping for better results BUT it gives me an idea where I need/ want to go. I can only imagine what the results would have been a year ago! doh! I've come a long way, but I still have a way to go! A question for the experts out there .......... Lately, I've been noticing a little knee pain and soreness while I'm working out. I've never really injured my knees or had problems with them before. I'm thinking if arthritis is going to kick in, it would start in my ankles that I really did damage. I did a little research- one site says if your quad muscles are significantly stronger than your hamstrings, that can cause an imbalance which leads to knee pain. True? Because I think I do tend to work my quads harder and better than I do my hamstrings, especially when I am working out on my own. (bad habit, but I tend to go for the machines and exercises that I "like" and feel comfortable with........) Any suggestions to improve the strength and flexibilty of my hamstrings and knees in general? I'm not looking for huge muscles, just toned and strong. For $$ reasons, I'm trying to limit my sessions with my trainer to once a week and do the rest on my own.

Someone once told me that for a woman, the best way to get out of a DUI is to tell the cop who pulled you over that you were masturbating and that's why the driving was erratic. She swore that a male cop would be so flustered, he would let you go. I believe the person who told me this probably used the excuse before AND probably also has masturbated while driving. But for the record, I don't advocate driving under the influence OR distracting yourself while driving in other ways ......

I had the heel scan done about 18 months ago as part of a "Lifeline Screening" and it did indicate a potential problem. BUT I've broken both my ankles so the heel was probably not the best place to scan. When I asked my regular doctor about it and told her HOW I broke my ankles, she told me not to worry. Its not like my bones were breaking spontaneously or anything, they took a lot of abuse both times and healed very well afterwards. No Boniva for me, not yet, anyway!
