  1. They didn't take the baby to the doctor and he starved to death. How on earth could they not see their infant was starving and suffering? How could they not hear his cries? That's child abuse and neglect, and in my book - murder -perpetrated by both parents. Apparently, a jury agreed. Now they're whining about being in prison and how they're misunderstood. Slow starvation would be a more appropriate sentence for them, but that woud be cruel.
  2. This isn't just directed at you, but why excuse their behavior with assumptions that they are stupid, mentally ill or trying to adhere to an ideology? Why put the vegan diet or lifestyle on trial when this is a clear case of child neglect and abuse? They literally starved their own infant to death! Probably one of the most painful and horrible ways to kill an infant. This wasn't a case of bad parenting or ignorance- it was cruelty and murder. There is nothing wrong with feeding an infant soy based formula exclusively. Parents do it all the time. Not all mothers can breastfeed, and many infants can't tolerate dairy based formulas.

    LOST SPOILERS!

Did you catch how Richard asked young Ben if his mother died on the island? If you die somewhere else, I guess you can be brought back on the island, but if you die on the island, you are dead for good. The Richard connection is interesting too. Ben kills his father apparently with Richard's encouragement, and Richard encourages Locke to use Sawyer to kill his father. And Jack's (and Claire's) dead father is possibly alive on the island. Is he doomed to be killed by his son as well?

    LOST SPOILERS!

No, I read that and I always thought there were other "others". Its just that plucking victims off a crashed plane, planting them and debris on an Island as marooned survivors, plus group memory manipulation of the people already on the island? its getting to be a little too much. Its nothing cosmic or supernatural- all of it can be explained as being caused by a group of rogue mad scientists? Dharma people are the "bad guys", the "others" are the original Dharma test subject and consider themselves the "good guys" but they've done some really bad things, and the lostaways- at least half of them seem to be murderers and thieves but even as murderers and thieves, they aren't really "bad". That I actually get!

    Mortgage Advice.

I'm not an underwriter. I disagree with closing the credit cards because the lender should not hit you with potential debt, just actual debt. I thought lenders stopped requiring revolving accounts to be closed a long time ago. (Paid, yes, closed, no.) Paying off the note on the trailer does sound reasonable. Are they processing this new mortgage as owner occupied? If they are considering it a 2nd home or an investment, the underwriting criteria is different. 80% LTV is great for owner occupied properties, but lenders want to see 70% to 75% for 2nd homes and investments. Truthfully, you can shop around and find a lender with fewer conditions, but you'll most likely pay for it in the rate and closing costs.

    Mortgage Advice.

I think the issue is that you'll be responsible for two mortgage payments, plus taxes and insurance on two homes. Your intent is to rent out the property you currently live in and move into the new home, but it sounds like the lender isn't giving you credit for the potential rental income to offset the mortgage payment, and that's throwing your debt load off.

    LOST SPOILERS!

No time travel- just mysterious people pulling victims off a plane crash and leaving them on a mysterious island. The purgatory thing was just early speculation. Plus, how does that flashback explain how the "others" all saw and heard the plane crash? If the survivors were all pulled off the real plane crash and the debris, luggage, etc., were all essentially planted on the island along with Jack and co.?
  8. My mom ALWAYS made that for me when I was home sick from school. That's pretty much the ultimate comfort food in my book! I hope someone can take care of that for you today! My mom's here in Chicago, and much as I'd like to, I don't think I can send her to you!

    LOST SPOILERS!

There's a move from 10 or 15 years ago, maybe longer. I think it was called Millenium and Cheryl Ladd and I think Kris Kristofferson were in it. The premise was that these was a group of people from the future- Cheryl Ladd was one of the- and they traveled back in time and rescued people from doomed airplanes just before the planes crashed. They they brought them to the future to live out the rest of their lives. This is starting to sound a lot like that........... Only they're bringing them to the island to work through their angst and issues, or work off their debt to society or something??? (Most of them are "bad" people, so its OK to experiment on them????) I think I liked it better when the island was supposed to be purgatory.
  10. The registration laws may go overboard, but the case the OP used isn't the best example of that. He wasn't talking about a 13 year old Peeping Tom, or even two kids playing "doctor". He was talking about an adolescent who was apparently convicted of abusing or molesting a significantly younger child.
  11. A 13 year old who abused a 9 year old?? I'm not sure I'm comfortable writing that off as adolescent fantasies gone wrong or just a "mistake". When an older kid abuses a much younger child, that tends to be indicative of other problems, doesn't it? Just because he completed a treatment program and has managed to stay out of trouble all this time doesn't mean he shouldn't still be classified as a sex offender. Sucks for him if it didn't really happen and he has to live with the label forever, but if he did molest or abuse the 9 year old why shouldn't he? Its sort of a grey area for me, depending on what the guy actually did. One would hope the courts understood the consequences of labelling a 13 year old as a sex offender and didn't do it without justification. Now an 18 year old with "caught" with his willing 16 year old girlfriend? Entirely different story.
  12. Be warned that the ending will probably make you want to throw something at your TV! But, I've been watching ER from the beginning, and i LOVE Abbey and Luka together so the wedding was sweet.
  13. I didn't watch, but the spinoff isn't exactly news. That's been out for weeks now. Addison serves no purpose on the show anymore. That being said, didn't the last medical drama about fertility specialists and ob/gyns totally bomb? I watched ER and got all choked up at Luka and Abbey's wedding. Then I got mad because of how they ended the show. I LIKE that character! Why can't the writers let Neela be happy for a change? grrrrrrrr

    Needs.

I'd pass on the ice cream, but chocolate, a cabana boy, a hug and a good night's sleep all sound good right about now!
  15. Chris, Have you ever been to a race track? There are about 10 races total- its an all day event. The Derby is the featured race, but throughout the whole day, it is world class horseracing. You bet, you watch, you drink, you socialize. Its fun!
  16. Have fun! We lived in Lousiville for a few years when I was still in grade school. Our parents took us, but we were always in the infield. Back in the day, that was quite the party. I remember the neighbors and my father's boss being shocked that they would expose us to that environment! I went a few times in high school and college too. Infield again, and we had a great time! I learned from my parents how to smuggle in beers!
  17. Nope- not a reflection. At least I don't think so. I vote for either semen or puke!
  18. Spike's also a big cat, but I can't really kid myself too much- he's borderline fat! I got him from a friend of mine and I've seen pictures from when he was just a week or so old. He had a gut then! There were only 3 in his litter, so he ate whatever he wanted whenever he wanted to. And he still loves to eat! Your kitty is just the opposite- she's still getting over being a stray. She remembers being hungry, so when she sees food, she eats it. She probably stresses out when her bowl is empty, too. And least your little girl has an excuse! Spike's just a pig!
  19. Oh my gosh! 3.5 pounds???? My Spike weighs at least 18 pounds! My smallest cat weighs around 9 pounds, and I think she's tiny!
  20. I think the standard is you should be able to feel the ribs, but not see them. Seriously! That sounds really thin, but overweight really isn't a good thing for a cat. Most of the vets I've seen really harp on that, too. Two of my cats meet that standard now, but the third is borderline chubby and I know I'll get scolded when I take him in for his check up! He just loves to eat, and he always has. He's only borderline right now, but when he's older and less active, I know I'll have a problem with him. I'd ask your vet about diet- what you should be feeding and how often. I don't think I could ever switch mine to regular "meals" with no free feeding in between, but some experts swear by that. My vet said young adult cats should be on a "Catkins" diet- high in protein and low in carbs. Cute, huh?
  21. Mine will do stuff like that when they WANT my attention. Or they'll jump on the keyboard when I'm on the computer, or jump in front of the TV and block it, or walk around howling, etc........ When they know I'm not paying attention and they don't want me to pay attention, that's when they jump on the fish tank or kitchen counters. They're pretty smart like that.
  22. OK serious answer. I'm not a cell phone junkie, but I do have one, and I have a BlueTooth earpiece. I don't use the earpiece all that often, but when I do charge it and turn it on, it might as well stay in my ear. It's a pain to dig for it if my phone does ring, and its also a pain to switch back and forth. If I'm using my bluetooth, it because I need a hands free device for some reason- like I'm driving and/or expecting a call or calls that I don't want to miss. Like I said, I rarely use mine but the sound quality and reception is really good. Oh, and this is pre BlueTooth, but I used to have a Nokia phone and I really needed to use the hands free ear piece/ mic just to hear calls. I felt like an idiot walking around like that, but the phone was so crappy that was the only way I could really use it!
  23. I love Tyler Florence, and I can actually prepare most of his recipes. Giada is OK, but to me, it doesn't looks like she eats what she cooks! She's too skinny. Someone else mentioned Nigella Lawson- she is hot! I don't know too many men that would kick her out of their kitchens!
  24. Tony? I would LOVE to see that! And his "death" last season was pretty anti-climatic, too! The two of them going rogue to avenge their women could be interesting. Too bad they never stay "rogue" for long!
  25. From what you describe, it sounds like Audrey doesn't make it. Poor Jack- how many years has it been now? He really needs to get some, you know? I shouldn't speculate with you since you have inside info buttttttttttt ................ what if the mystery character is Secreatry of Defense Heller? Or dear old dad? Maybe even Logan, but I kind of hope not. Or how about the one armed Gredenko who really didn't drown or bleed to death under the pier! Or or or what about Chapelle who he had to take out to the train yard and shoot during season 3? I always thought that scene was so devastating- Jack being forced to execute his boss- and I really wanted him to turn up alive somehow. Like he shot him with something that made him appear dead long enough for the bad guys to buy it, and then could be revived? Or wait- what if the mystery returning character is none other than BEHROOOZ???????? This is fun! Desmond/Theo? I don't see Theo as being all that pissed at Jack. He was doing his job, saving the country, yadda yadda yadda. Theo was an agent too, working for a "friendly" nation. I don't buy the revenge angle- he should understand the whole concept of greater good, etc. AND, I don't buy Desmond as the surprise shocking death on LOST. Only because it wouldn't be all that shocking. He's still sort of a fringe character, isn't he?
