  1. I've just realized who RAB is. I guess I should have figured it out sooner!
  2. There's a time to jump with low timers and a time to work on your own skills and jump with people at your level or better than you. Its all about balance. Its OK to be a little selfish with your jump tickets, (as in work on improving your own skills) but there should also be room to give a little back to the sport.
  3. SPOILER!!!!! I think Snape will be instrumental in Harry's bringing Voldemort down in book 7, but he'll lose his life in the process. Redemption and all that deep stuff, you know?
  4. Is there any reason you have to order directly through Sunrise? I just ask because I once "won" a certificate for a Tony suit at an auction and ordered it through my gear store. My SO won a Javelin container at a raffle, and also ordered through our gear store. I kind of doubt the store processed our orders out of "good will" but we both had plenty of "extras" which I'm sure they got some kind of commission from. We're also regular jumpers and regular customers. Are you? I'm not going to comment on whether he should have been nicer to you- you showed up late and asked him to do something he had absolutely NO obligation to do. Under the circumstances, I have to wonder just how "nice" you were to him. In case you hadn't noticed, you catch more flies with honey.
  5. I agree with you. spoiler: I also agree the death had to happen, and its been foreshadowed at least since order of the Phoenix. I was still shocked and hoping it wouldn't happen, but in the end it will come down to Harry and Voldemort, and perhaps by sacrificing his life, Dumbeldore was able to provide Harry with additional power and protection, much like his mother did when she died protecting him. Also interesting was one of the lessons Dumbeldore tried to convey to Harry. By trying to defeat the "Prophecy" Voldemort actually set the wheels in motion to make it come true. He created a powerful enemy in Harry, giving him the motive and power to destoy him. Very mythic, very classic. I've also got a wacky theory about Harry's new "talisman"- the locket he and Dumbeldore got from the cave that turned out to be a dummy. (Is it possible there's a piece of Dumbeldore's soul in there?) And who is R.A.B.? Once Harry finds out, he may find himself with a new ally, possibly from beyond the grave! All in all a very satisfying read, but it left me wanting soooo much more. JK Rowling is freakin' brilliant! I don't know HOW she'll ever top or even equal this series of books, but I guess she doesn't have to.
  6. I agree! They can read at their own risk!
  7. Attractive to look at or attractive to spend time with? There's a difference!
  8. To me that seems like too small a payout to risk felony charges. However, since most of these folks are overseas and I guess they figure evem if they don't get away with it, there isn't a huge risk of being prosecuted.
  9. Its a very old scam that's been posted about here numerous times. I have a freind who owns some rental property and she had to deal with the same crap. She strung the guy along for a few weeks while she contacted the authorities. I'm not sure anything came of it but at least she didn't get taken in by it. I'm honestly surprised they still try this same scam- its so obvious and its been going on for so long I can't imagine they'd have too many suckers at this point. Plus, once you send that fake cashiers check through the mail or fedex, isn't that automatically a felony?
  10. My brother in law insisted they only needed one copy for a family of four. The two kids (15 and 19) are taking turns- they get to read in 2 or 3 hour shifts. My sister (being the responsible mom and all) has to wait until they are done! Mean old dad (who decided they only needed one) gets it last, I HOPE! Me- I would have just bought a second book! No one got between me and my book yesterday! So who else is done? Can we talk about it yet???
  11. I just finished it! Its going to be a long 2 years or so for the next one!
  12. I'm about 2 thirds of the way through it. I make myself put it down from time to time, but I keep going back to it.
  13. While these are amusing, between having caller ID and being on the Do Not Call registry, I don't deal with telemarketers.
  14. I preordered BUT last time I also preordered and I really didn't need to. Costco had a whole ton of them for less than (maybe a dollar?) what Border's was selling them for. I can't decide whether to go at midnight and pick mine up or wait until tomorrow morning. I can't even believe I am considering the midnight run to Borders but I am!
  15. A travel agent is more likely to book at a large hotel or chain. If you are looking to save money and want something smaller or privately owned, you need to do more research. Still the internet- but you may need to go to travel forums and message boards for reccommendations.
  16. I'll usually only use a travel agent if I'm booking an Apple vacation since they will only deal with travel agents. And that's usually after researching airfare and hotel options and determining that Apple is offering the best price for what I want. BUT, with amore ocmplicated vacation and maybe fewer budget constraints, I *might* go with a travel agent if I thought it would make things easier. When I went to Mexico in February, I booked an Apple charter flight through a travel agent but made my own hotel arrangements. Not all inclusive, not right on the beach, but clean and airconditioned and near a really nice beach- much nicer than the beach the big resorts were located on! Of course, it helps if you know a little about the area you are visiting when you are making your own hotel arrangements and not going with a large resort!
  17. Learn a little geography! Mexico is a part of North America. They ARE NorthAmericans, just like the Canadians are.
  18. I got it, but don't be surprised if DCFS shows up at your door!
  19. Maybe it was a Marz bar on the show I saw! Do they have coconut in them?
  20. I'll admit I used the elevator at the local Bally's when I was rehabbing my broken ankle. Going down the stairs especially was pretty brutal.
  21. I don't think I'd like a deepfried Twinkie, but the deepfried Monds bar looked really good. Not something I'd try at home- its just too decadent!
  22. Have you ever seen Nigella Bites? Its a cooking/ entertaining show on the style channel, I think. She made deep fried Mounds bars on one episode. You've got to love a woman who can batter dip and deepfry a candy bar!
  23. I was kind of nervous about that when we went to Ixtapa in February. But we had excellent spots on every load, and the landings were soft and easy. The landing direction was always along the shore line (north or south) regardless of wind direction. More often that not we were at least a little crosswind, but it wasn't a problem. My suggestion would be to make your first jump something small and low pressure, open a little high if you can and follow others down. You'll love it, I promise!
  24. I didn't know Vonage worked with DSL.
