Maybe true, but why do it at all. When you use your bridal, it's one less tool. I try to pack with as few tools as possible. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

bomber jumps- when and where?
johnny1488 replied to countzero's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Contact Sonic at The Ranch Pro Shop . He organized a bomber boogie this year at the ranch a few weeks ago. Second year the bomber has been here (The Ranch). I believe the jumps were $400 or 450. [/url] Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome -
Aside from the distance I am currently getting, I prefer the Neos in every way. With the speed I can get in the air with my Neos, I think in the future I will be going further than my VX. I am just way to used to my VX to be very good with the Neos yet. I gave the Neos to a kid on the DZ who does pretty good with his Velo and he tore the landing area up. He went way further than I have yet so it gave me hope. After pond swoop is over, I am gonna focus on learning who to land this thing cause I like it so much. The riser pressure on the Neos is nothing like the VX. The pressure on the Neos is pretty light and very managable. I have not seen any slack in full flight in any lines. If you hang like an ape on the front risers on any canopy, you can get some of the rear lines to go slack. The Neos is very different from the VX. Funny it doesn't say CIMSA on it. This canopy is going to be sold by Icarus Canopies. Trust me on this. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Thats cause its not on there yet. I'm a man on the inside! Info will be posted as soon as the canopy is launched. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Ranch Pond Swoop Meet Re-scheduled!!!!
johnny1488 replied to johnny1488's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Because of weather the meet has been moved to the weekend of September 23-24th. We only finished one round (two runs at the straight lane) and Marat took home the $1000 prize for that one!!! The meet in September is going to be a full one (re doing the straight lane) and is open to anyone who wants to show up. There will be a $1000 prize for the winner of each individual event, Straight, carving, targets, freestyle and the raft. There will also be an additional $1000 for the overall winner. This events looks to be a lot of fun, so bust out the pond shoes and get to The Ranch!!!!! Go big or go home!!!!! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome -
who or where was swooping invented?
johnny1488 replied to agent_lead's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I was talking with Phil and he said he got a lot of ideas from Rickster and someone else when they were up at the Ranch in like 93. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome -
You should ask the marketing department. Thats not me. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Thats apparently not what the marketing department wanted. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I gave him a nice little chat. I also asked him where the fuck he got that canopy from. Some hot shot at his wisconson DZ sold it to him (not a dealer). I told him that his friend didnt like him very much. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

A Safire 2/229? Oh, don't bother with a Front Riser Turn
johnny1488 replied to ntrprnr's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hit me up when your at the DZ, I will give you some stuff to try. Along the same lines of the advice given here. I spent 300 jumps hooking my Safire 209, so I think we can get you some experience in using all your inputs. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome -
Or a redesigned linegrabber 2000 flap? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I have a BJ 310 and it would not fit in our srudent rigs (easily) So I made a d bag bigger and put a BOC pouch on it and went out of the otter on my back and deployed the dbag directly. I also wanted to wear a harness that was comfortable, more like the one I will be using when I base. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

If you need my to post a picture of my Icarus Canopies label on ym, Neos, I will. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome
-
It didnt seem like a lack of balls to me going through the door of the otter with my d bag in my hands throwing it into the air. You know me and know my canopy experience. My lack of balls has never been what you have said about my flight experience. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

There is a lot more to it than that. The Neos is an Icarus Canopy. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

no web worth video yet. Come on out to the ranch so I can house you on a high hopnpop. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Still has the standard vectran lines (for now...) It has 3 braced cells in the center and 3 standard cells on the outsides. The bracing style is new, as is the nose configuration. The canopy also has the way smaller pressureized and loaded stabilizers. From the outside video I have the wing looks super clean and is retardedly fast in the sky. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Right now my swoops are longer on my VX, but just from the sheer speed I feel a lot of potential in the Neos. It is SOOOO much faster than my VX in the air. The recovery is a lot different, and that is where my work lies. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

The only guarantee is that you will have a shitload of fun ripping up the pond with us. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I have about 10 jumps on mine so far. In air, this is the sickest canopy I have ever jumped. From openings to harness flight to slow flight, this canopy is the best I have flown. The landings are going to take a bit of getting used to. I am still working on my approach. I have to turn a fair bit higher than my VX. It does feel more velo-ish in its recovery and I am still way used to my VX. I am very excited about jumping this thing and getting on it. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!"
