They call it a 17 in main lift web with a one inch split, meaning there is one inch below the junction of the MLW and the lateral. It moves the placement of the container on your back as well as other things. General splits are for taller people, but try it on. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

Tandem Master or Instructor?+ Where?
johnny1488 replied to skypimp.gzo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would suggest you talk to an examiner before deciding to jump into getting your tandem rating. 500 jumps is the minumim, but it doesn't mean you have to go for it when you hit 500. There is a lot that goes into jumping tandem, and it should not be taken lightly. But it is called Tandem instructor as far as I know. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" What about this part right here? Doesn't that say that if you have the appropriate certificate (rigging cert) that you can maintain a parachute? And what the hell are you doing up? Isnt it like 5 in the morning? Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

You touched on this, but I discussed this with some people. A simple patch does not effect airworthyness. A single line was a grey area, because it may or may not effect airworthyness, depending on how you look at it. But a senior rigger can absolutely maintain their own gear. SKI WEEKEND - recommendations much appreciated

Give your self a day to go to Park City. Again I am partial to Deer Valley, but the whole town is pretty cool. Every resort has easy access rentals. I paid $45 a day before I got my own gear. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome -
Except I'ld love to see him say that it was an entanglement, and not just a sheer malfunction that caused the reserve to not work. You know, whuffos thinking it just happens all the time. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

no, to figure out that that link had the wrong audio with it. At least the one I had did. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

took me a few minutes to figure that one out too. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

It's not because the rsl is standard that you can't remove it, it's because it was part of the system when the container was tso'd. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

My girl works at Deer Valley and i just learned how to ski there. Very nice. I went to Park City one day and it was nice but i like DV better. Gonna try Alta when i go there next. They are all within 30-40 minutes of each other os you can't lose, except it looks to be getting very war there this week. DV park city and the canyons on one side, alta and snowbird on the other. Just skiid my first day on the east coast today at a baby mountain near me. Utah sure was sick! Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome -
So it really doesn't matter what Sunpath means if that is how the FAA is gonna interpret it. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I hate the "not fully elliptical" thing. The Diablo is a high performance canopy. Having a straight leading edge does not make it any more suitable for a beginner. It is very elliptical. Just cause its not on the front does not make it "slightly" or lightly" elliptical. It is highly or for all intensive purposes, fully elliptical. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

From what I was told at the PIA is that the "permanently removed" that sunpath was unhappy with was people removing the rsl rings that the reserve ripcord must go through. That is permanent, as it was explained to me. But..... They also said that it was tested with the rsl and that is how it SHOULD remain. Very wishy washy if you ask me. Keep the rsl on if you want to cover your ass. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I don't know how it was marketed, but it is highly elliptical/high performance. And I think it's awesome you have one loaded at 1.16 at 18 jumps. Cause no one has ever put themselves in line twists at 1000ft. Cause no one has ever hooked themselves in landing off on a wide open field with no one around. That puts almost every jumper off the wind line. Where is the issue with belly out first? I really don't see the issue. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

There are these yellow things on our parachutes that can make us descend slower. Just cause we open on the same level, doesn't mean we have to land at the same time. Horizontal seperation is way more important than vertical seperation. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

If your PC is spinning up, your kill line is probably too long ie not collapsing completely. If it's too short, you wont be able to set it all the way and may get a PC in tow or other problems. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I pull at 3500 to begin with. Then if i see someone tracking in my direction, i adjust my direction if i need to. On a lot of jumps i start my track on my back to do this first. Bottom line is if you aren't comfortable doing it, dont. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

If you make it longer it will not collapse all the way (kind of defeats the purpose of having a collapsable.) I would use another line ie vectran if you dont want it to shrink. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I barrel roll when i am done tracking, when I would put on the breaks, I roll and glance at the air above meand stop the track completely when i am back on my belly and then wave. I personally just like it better than the looks left and right over my shoulders. It doesn't effect my tracking distance, cause that is what is most important. In the end it is the high man's responsibility to be aware that you are pulling. But in my skydiving, I try to leave the least up to chance as possible, if I can take the respoinibility upon myself, I usually try to. But thats just me. Im gonna guess no. You would have to really re-work the icon's riser cover system to integrate the collins lanyard. I imagine they are going to go to the same style floating reserve pin cover and riser covers to make the skyhook possible. But that's just my opinion from what i see the skyhook needing to function. No, as of right now, the Neos is only being produced by Icarus Canopies in Spain. (CIMSA) Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

I've seen a factory diver save someones life (i think, his injuries could have been way worse) on a bad landing. Go with what works for you. Johnny --"This ain't no book club, we're all gonna die!" Mike Rome

It is no where near as high as the VX. I have never jumped a modded VX. I would call the Neos riser pressure light. I should also say I dont like to have riser pressure too light. I did not like the front riser pressure on the Katana, for instance. It felt way too light and there was hardly any resistance. I like to know im pulling on risers. I think it makes for a better flight and better control of inputs when its not ridicilously easy to pull on risers. Thats just my opinion. The response from the risers on the Neos also lends itself to better flight also. The canopy really screams and you dont need to hang on risers to get it to do what you want.
