People can defend themselves. I'm sure I've covered this numerous times. It seems to me that alot of you guys cant even comprehend a confrontaional situation where a gun isn't involved. Gun crime is actually very ow in the UK and the amount of people injured by guns is even lower! A dirty bomb is just a tool too, don't hate the bomb, hate the extremists

Six Muslim Clerics Removed from USAir Flight for Praying

Who cares about hurting peoples feelings? People were in fear Don't ever be too scared of hurting someones feelings to ask awkward questions. WHats the big deal anyway, it sounds like they were detained for a couple of hours and missed their flight. Obviouslly nothing come of it and they went on their merry way. Probably more procedure than anything -
Mostly good points. We need to stay in agreement that different cultures have different ways of doing things. To suggest that the British public should be armed is quite frankly scary and I believe most would be in agreement with me. I wouldn't let most loose with a firework let alone a gun. Your quite right about the group dynamic thing. Groups can be explosive and do things they wouldn't normally do alone. But peer pressure etc causes kids to join gangs and also for security in some parts of the UK (thining big cities) As for parenting. Behave. The parents are barely adults themselves. I had parents teaching the kids (no more than 3 years old) to throw bottles at us when we go on the estate. What kind of parent is an alcoholic teenage repeat offender. Most of the kids I know in these gangs have no parental guidance. They are kicked out of the house all day and night and return when its convenient for their parents, left to walk the streets. They get in big gangs, drink alcohol have disagreements with other gangs and get involved in street crime and when you inform their parents they couldnt give a fuck as the next night they are back out on the streets again Maybe its time we started licenceing who can have kids. Some of them just don't have a chance

Yeah but hopefully you'll have the common sense to discretely put it away without a fuss and forget about it until you've landed. If halfway throught hte flight you put it on, dot he straps up and walk towards the door then I think you can expect trouble! My point is, why should we tiptoe around other cultures? They are aware that what they are doing may cause concern but probably think "Fuck it, its my goddamn right!" and that attitude caused them to get removed and questioned. Hasn't anyone ever heard of keeping their head down? -
My point is there are more officer response options than a use of deadly force. Believe it or not I don't run down the road blowing a whistle asking people politely to stop running away from me. When firearms are used they certainly don't aim for non lethal areas as thats not practical. They fire at the centre mass to eliminate the threat, whatever the injuries are, thats dealt with afterwards if possible. I don't understand your point really As for your stereotypes, your thinking of the Irish, thay are the drunks

The aircraft is private property and as such the management can refuse service to whoever they like and forcibly eject people if neccesary. The fact is passengers were nervous by their behaviour and complained so they were removed which resolved the issue and allowed the plane to carry on its merry journey stress free. Seems like a good solution to me by the company. People do feel scared when they see things like that, you can imagine what they are thinking and concerned about. Whilst not wanting to prevent religious expression you would have thought common sense would have them pray prior to boarding the aircraft or 'toning it down' a bit. What did they imagine people would think? If you went in a shop making people feel uneasy by, for example staring. Thats not illegal either, but would upset the customers in which case if they don't want you to remain on the property any longer you will leave one way or another. I personally think people should stop having little PC outcries about how this & that was outrageous when really in the back of your mind, you'd have the same concerns. You never know, that person that had the balls to share their concerns might have saved lives on any other occasion -
Why, do officers in the US shoot someone if they make off from them then? Is that person running away such a threat that they need to be shot. Theres 2 options here, either your talking shit (which I believe to be the case) or all officers really are that fat over there that their only hope of detaining someone is if they are in a body bag. Cut down on your pork life mate, get some exercise!

People that risk their lives day in day out without thanks to protect their community. Be it military, police, fire or ambulance service. Due to the nature of their work they rarely receive thanks so heres your moment of glory from one thankful person

God bless melodramatic America. Who said an armed society is a polite society? What a crock of shit. Just remember this is UK culture and not US so most of what your saying just doesn't ring true over here. My point wasn't to bring up this debate again as its been done to death. It was more to raise awareness of the campaign and support. As someone stated its more about pressuring society to stand up against those who do own guns illegally and get them to give up their guns. If you think this campaign is targetted at hardened criminals then you really must be thick as shit. Its directed at youths who see guns (and knives) as a status symbol and can end up getting into situations they needn't be in when fueled by testosterone, fear, adrenaline and bravado. If your arguing the only way to be fair, now its too late, is to arm everyone, maybe you should tell your president that, when in his 'world police' role hes trying to prevent the armaments of other countries so he knows he can still beat the shit out of them if he has to

If you walk round with a weapon for self defence you either feel very unsafe in your environment, are a little bit funny in the head, feel that you might need it (ie because you have a habbit of winding people up) or are doing it because its macho. I don't feel the need to carry anything for the purpose of self defence. I got quite a good range of strikes on me and I can run quite fast The chances of me ever needing a handgun are extremely minimal and if I had the choice between carrying one round my whole life and probably not needing it or going with out, I'd go without, as if I could be bothered maintaining that and lugging it around with me.

John, I know we'll never ever agree on this topic and my intention wasn't to bait you. It's a differnt culture here. All handguns here are illegal therefore stopping the supply and ownership of guns is, in fact, a perfect way of curbing gun crime. I have to disagree with you on the murderers argument. I think the point of the video may have escaped you. Guns are an easy way for a person to be put in a position of tactical advantage, be it in a robbery or a dispute (as shown in the video). Foolish kids are getting hold of guns because of the image associated with them and stupid confrontaions escalate into (quite possibly accidental) shootings. Keeping guns off the streets and disrupting the supply of them is therefore the most effective method of preventing it in the first place. You will paticularly like this: Remember that in the UK you cannot carry a weapon for means of self defence, this by very definition means the article you are carrying is an offensive weapon. Be it a gun, a knife, a baton or a kubotan. Also, the police do care if an old white guy is shot in London with a gun but the target audience who are known to be associated with this 'lifestyle' are young black males unfortunately. So its quite reasonable to try and reach out that community and educate them.

Just to get my comment in, I hate it. I really feel uncomfortable when people are smoking around me. Especially the smell. I don't care what anyone says, it is harmful to others around you. The fact that the effects may be negligible is not relevant, my body is for my own sculpting (or lack thereof). Fucks me off that when I'm trying to keep myself in relative good shape or in one of my fitness phases working hard that some pikey tosser can light up next to me in the street. Ban it in public definately. As a side note when I go to peoples houses for work I refuse to work if they are smoking as that place temporarily becomes my place of work and I'm not subjecting myself to their filthy habbit. If nothing else, being in a room of smokers all trying to tell me their story makes me stink and my eyes hurt My parents used to smoke and growing up I was really confused why they did, I've never even tried smoking. Why would you smoke in your car anyway? Thats disgusting. I know that when I'm looking for a second hand car theres nothing I like more than a stained, discoloured smelly car Even most smokers I know don't smoke in their cars. In short if it affects others (in public) ban it. In own home, let them crack on with killing themselves. If its a rented house though, I wouldn't allow smokers in my property and that would be firmly on the contract with a clause for professional redecoration fees going to the offending occupants.

No mate, they do that sort of thing on my patch The family laid out flowers for the robber and residents put signs up saying 'he deserved to be shot dead by police' and 'scum' etc - Now thats what you call policing by consent

Met. Police instigated this campaign and video Check the music video I think they did a good job with it although its received some flack as apprantly the group used to glamourise gun related violence www.stoptheguns.org

I got a 210 Silhouette and my exit weight probably similar. Not an experienced canopy pilot so cant tell you alot other than its enough to be good fun and not scary at the same time if your sensible with your approaches. Although wingloading might look quite high, that beast creates a LOT of drag!

Yeah, find a source on the internet, because then we know for sure its true

He'd be locked up as a nutter. Maybe he did come back but hes in some padded cell somewhere.

I have to say, I kinda find it distasteful too. Think of the docklands bombing for example, just one part of a prolonged terror campaign by the IRA You can see the anger, imagine if there was one called suicide bomber (there probably is no doubt).
