    PC or not.

Diversity is about identifying peoples cultural/behavioural backgrounds and treating them accordingly, not tip toeing around them, just being aware. Like when you walk into some religious place with your muddy shoes on and are unwashed expect to cause offence. I dont think thats unreasonable. Discriminating against them because of their beliefs would also not be reasonable. Now if by cancelling christmas and being 'politically correct' our own culture is deprived of its festivities then that is wrong too. They really are different things Interesting side note: Everyone is prejudiced. Sooner you realise where your possibly irrational preconceived notions come from and who they are targetted at, the quicker you wioll be able to be more rasonable in your approach to them.
  2. To everyone whos sitting at their desk quietly debating what they would do in that situation clearly doesn't understand the dynamic nature of a situation like that. You don't have the luxuary of thinking things through and you react almost instinctively. Add to that you believe someone is trying to kill or seriously hurt you (even if the belief is incorrect) and it can become very irrational.

I'm in favour of recognising diversity and trying to prevent discrimination but I hate political correctness for the sake of it.. I think its important to draw a distinction

  9. Thanks, seeing as how I can hear those annoying 'mosquito' boxes they install that emit high frequency sound to stop kids congregating it might be that the first test wasn't really a fair one, given my recent exposure to loud noise (grinding, air tools, hammering etc - panel beater). Noone commented on my recent medical so may well be that It's fine. I should enquire really to make sure
  10. I wonder why they dont administer some sort of general anaesthetic then the lethal dose of whatever they use. It would be the most humane way of doing it. Strange to see they still use hanging in one state as preferred method
  11. Is it possible that NIHL can recover to a certain degree? I ask as having worked in a noisy environment for a long time then working in a quiter environment I scored better on my hearing tests with less noticeable loss of high frequency sound. Either that or different environment where tests conducted, familiarity with test procedure etc 1st test I downed tools, stepped out of workshop and more or less stepped straight into booth. 2nd test was on a scheduled day off for medical for new job so hadn't been subject to loud noise that day.

  20. I found myself a comfortbale area of pulling at 3k. So I'm finished what I've done and are breaking off at 4k. Seems to offer me enough time under canopy to not be overwhelmed and generally even with shitty spot doesnt cause me problems. Gives plenty of time for dealing with EPs too I reckon... although I havent had to do it yet *touch wood*
