  2. A woman was in a coma for months and months... Having tried every medical treatment available to revive her, her husband was beginning to despair when his doctor offered an alternative option... "Sometimes, patients have responded well to oral sex." The man was surprised by this suggestion but as the doctor assured him it could do no harm, he agreed to give it a try. That evening, the nurses changed his wife to a single room and allowed the two some privacy... Things were quiet for about 10 minutes, then suddenly all her emergency equipment started beeping and going off... The nurses ran into the room asking what happened and the man replied: "I don't know!! Everything was going really well!! I guess she must have choked!!" 3. OK... Perhaps the question was poorly worded... I guess I mean are you responsible for how your life turns out... I know that's kind of vague, but leaving some room for interpretation can mean some interesting approaches to the topic... 4. Like John, I think there is certainly a lot left to chance... I would also add circumstance... Our whole approach to life is very influenced by where and how we grew up, by our culture, by social norms, et cetera, et cetera. Ultimately, though, I think one's behaviour and attitude determine a lot about how one's life turns out... 5. Let's assume the 2 extremes here... One view is that you have no choices at all - you are a product of your environment and fate drives everything. The opposite view would be you have complete free-will and are 100% responsible for everything about your life. Ok, obviously both are exaggerated, but wich end of the spectrum do you most agree with?? 6. I'm not sure I've *had* 6 relationships... Unless you count the boys I held hands with in high school!!! "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  7. Whilst I agree that they broke the law, I also think that millions of people helped them do it... And yes it's theoretically wrong to profit from crime, that money got thrown around back into the economy so there was little incentive to shut them down for a very long time... Let's face it: they weren't exactly a big secret so even the authorities/gov didn't act (until now) - why?? To villify the people who ran the operation is to deny everyone's participation in the crime. Just like the bankers who supposedly are the root of all evil... Those bankers gave loans to loads of people who lied about their income and credit-worthiness... But it's so much easier to point the finger at just a handfull of people... ETA: what irks me in all of this is lack of access... Why haven't the networks and studios evolved with the times and utilised the internet to give people the unlimited access they want?? They could adapt to market demands and utilise a similar business model to megavideo (paid advertising) and offer "free" streaming whilst reaping the profits they are entitled to. Why haven't they clued into a very basic supply/demand situation and/or adapted the rules accordingly??? 8. Been here since Friday now and I'm so in love with the place
  9. Well, the place is tiny... You can ALL come - you just have to come in one at a time!!! Yeah, I've been property hunting for about 2 years now... Took ages just to find an area I liked that was near enough to where I could get work... Visited so many places, but as soon as I saw the "for sale" ad for this one I instantly knew it was The One. I love, love, love it
  10. ...Because I get the keys to this place
  11. I didn't say I thought women were better drivers - I said you couldn't determine whether this was the case with the statistics at hand. I totally agree that most people think they are better than average drivers... Just like most people rate themselves as having above average intelligence... Sadly, in almost every respect, most people tend to belong squarely in the "average" category... To think otherwise is merely an attempt to feel less of a boring, ordinary, insignificant waste of space!! (Unless you're like me and you really *are* better than average!! ) "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  12. See... This is what annoys me about statistics... It *would* be accurate to say that women have fewer accidents than men, but there are too many factors to consider to go one step further and say they're better drivers... I reckon men spend more time driving than women do to start with... More men working, more male truck/bus drivers, more guy driving with their SO in the passenger seat... This alone skews the figures. And there is no way to account for the bad drivers who cause accidents where technically the guy rear-ending is at fault (for example)... We *may* be better drivers, but the statistics don't prove that. Still, the insurance companies are right to charge more for "higher-risk" categories because they are statistically more likely to pay out for men. 13. HA!! I just got home and I'm still laughing... Some young guy was chatting me up tonight... When I called his bluff and told him to take me home and fuck me senseless he just turned red and mumbled he couldn't because he still lives with his parents You see... Older woman + younger guy = doesn't work!!! Hahahahaha. You crack me up My question is, what would you had he stepped up and said "SURE!!" Reckon I'd have given him a fair chance to prove his skillz!! And I couldn't take him home to my place... Trains/buses to my village had long since stopped running and I didn't have a spare helmet. 15. Perhaps men are better at being patient with a younger partner and women are better at "growing up". Since a man's earning potential is generally higher, it's harder to do things "backwards" (ie: with the woman as the lead provider)... That is potentially another thing that makes the older women/younger man scenario more challenging. But like I said, there are always exceptions. And as times change, so do our options... If there was a greater balance in terms of "gender potential" (not just earning but life expectancy, et cetera), maybe more and more couples would tend to be a similar age. 17. Three people discover a way to steal 1 thousand dollars from their company without getting caught. - The first does't hesitate at all and isn't even tempted to steal the money. - The second fights with his desire to steal but doesn't. It's a real struggle but he doesn't touch the money. - The third takes the money and gives it to someone who really needs it. 18. A murderer is going to kill someone and asks you to choose who. All you know is: - 1 is an elderly woman. She is raising her grand-child who would become an orphan a second time if the woman died. - 1 is a young man. He has his whole life ahead of him. He is an arrogant youth whom everyone hates. - the last person is yourself. You can volunteer and set the other two free. Who do you pick? 20. I'm about to become a home-owner again in 8 days... When buying a home, you have to expect that everything that can go wrong WILL go wrong... Then when shit hppens it's somehow less stressful 'cause anyway it's SUPPOSED to go tits up... And if anything goes well, then it's a pleasant surprise!!!
  21. Man, that's awful. Not right... Not right at all... "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
  22. Gonna make some sweeping generalisations here... Basically, there is a reason women tend to be with older men and not the other way around... It's a mutually agreeable arrangement whereby the man is at an emotionally compatible level with the woman. Plus he is financially stable (what she wants) and she is physically attractive (what he wants). Flip that on its head (ie: woman with a younger man), and you will find fewer people that are both compatible (financially/physically) and on a level playing field emotionally/maturity-wise... It happens but it's the exception and not the rule.
