    Do you regret??

It's amazing to think how seemingly small choices have massively impacted my life... Conversely, some big decisions I lost much sleep over turned out not to be so life-changing after all... Chances are if I wiped out all the mistakes I've made, I merely would have made *different* mistakes... Some of little consequence and some not. I would possibly be living a totally different life - maybe better and maybe worse but it's imposible to tell which. I would have developped according to a different set of circumstances and would likely still stand by my choices since I would have nothing to compare them with. All in all, I think if you dwell too much on the "what if's" it becomes counter-productive... Because the different decision(s) would not have led you to the path you imagine, it would simply have brought you somewhere else. 4. Like I said... I took the whole damned thing apart... Rinsed everything aside from the hard drive, the fan, and everything that was obviously not wet. Soaked the keyboard thoroughly. Put everything on a tray in the sunshine to air-dry for 48 hours. No data was lost. Everything works like a charm apart from about 6 keys. Even after taking those keys apart and cleaning them (a fucking nightmare with those stupid little clippy-things that laptops have)... But the same 6 keys still don't work... So on ebay there are some going for about 30 euros... Hoping just changing the keyboard will do the trick 'cause cleaning it didn't quite salvage it... 5. D'oh. Thinking of getting another (used) one on e-bay for parts. Unless someone has a better idea. "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

  7. Ok, so I did the obvious thing... Shut it down and riinsed with water and let it dry 48 hours and even put it back together without any parts being left over... Nothing was lost; it starts and shuts just fine, just that some keys no longer work... Can I just replace the keyboard or is it something else that is fried??? Oh happy day!!!

In 2009 I moved into an appartment that didn't have a washing machine... Since then I have only had respite from hand-washing my clothes for 2 months last year... But now, now those days are OVER as I have JUST installed a BRAND NEW WASHING MACHINE

Meh... We all make mistakes and occasionally exercise poor judgement... Not sure why some people don't accept this is a normal part of life. Which is fine for a person to realize for themselves, but are frequently unable to count on the same realization from others, which is why most people won't admit their mistakes or regrets. That's exactly what I meant. I don't see why people have this pressure not to admit to having made mistakes. I don't see why they shouldn't admit it to themselves and I don't see why they shouldn't admit it to others and I don't see why others wouldn't get that making mistakes is normal. The whole song and dance seems a little ridiculous to me. I get into trouble all the time for saying stuff I theoretically should keep to myself but I just can't stand bullshit. At least people can trust that when I say something I mean it - even if it's not PC. Do you regret??

Departure date was meant to be 28 October but has been postponed indefinitely... Turns out they weren't going to cover ANY of my costs, not even a small living allowance to pay for room and board whilst over there... Couldn't afford to go bankrupt for a volunteer mission... I was sad to back out but thought it was better to cut my losses (which were already high) before I got further into financial difficulty. Shame, but they were the assholes who promised to cover costs and then changed their mind after I had already paid for a bunch of stuff (criminal record check, medical check-up and anti-malaria medicine, flights and hotels for training in Canada et cetera et cetera)... Live and learn... Get them to pay directly instead of counting on getting a refund... Even the mega rich have difficult and life-changing decisions to make... Like what colour of varnish to put on the deck for the new yacht!! Do you regret??

Hmm... Just told my brother's wife I would not be going to Canada for the holidays as I can't afford it... She responded by asking if I regretted spending so much money travelling and moving to the south of France!!! Um... Lemme see... NO!! I do not regret quitting the rat race... I do not regret selling all my useless crap to go travelling... I do not regret moving to a place where the sun almost always shines and where my neighbours greet me with a smile, and where the baker saves my favourite bread for me every day... I do not regret finding a company that, although can only employ me part time, is full of great people, and offers me work that is both interesting and fulfilling.... Some people...! Like money is the most important thing in life!! Sheesh!! What about you guys? Ever make big life changes? Looking back, do you regret it? 20. Yep. The plan was to build a mezzanine but out of funds... It's not my place and I shouldn't care but the owner is a good friend so I do care. I told him I didn't think the place would be finished on time but as I was not here earlier this week he took the painter on his word that it was all done... It's sad 'cause the guy did a bad job and has now fucked off... If I had the time (and a massive stand) I would put another 2 coats myself (the first coat was so badly diluted). Such a shame. 22. Things I learned this week: 1-my bike doesn't like potholes. 2-my laptop doesn't like beer. 3-six litres of paint doesn't cover two coats for the entire living room walls. 4-don't pay builders until AFTER they have put two coats of paint on the effing walls. 5-I don't know what my maximum daily tolerance for coffee is but I now know it is LESS than 16 cups. 23. I have a Kawasaki Ninja 250R. It's my first bike and I think it's great to learn on... Looks sporty-ish, light and easy to handle, not very "nervous" and can comfortably do highway speeds, doesn't cost an arm and a leg and holds its value pretty well. 99% of non-bikers will not even realise it's a small bike. HOWEVER, my ex rode it once and he is TALL and he *did* look a bit gay on it... Let me just say that if you can, try to rent a couple of different models before you go and buy a shiny new ride... At least if you crash a couple of times it's a rental so you won't be completely heart-broken!! IMO, it's better to rent something for at least a weekend than just take it for a 15 minute spin... You'll get a better idea of what riding position you like, how different bikes handle, et cetera. ETA - just realised you would have the bike in NYC... What are ya gonna do with it in the winter? Do you have a place to park it (indoors)?? "There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss
