If you're going to compare street racing to skydiving, at least make it accurate. Street racing on the highway is the skydiving equivalent of swooping the main landing area with the canopy traffic from an 80-way in the air at the same time. It's stupid, and you're putting others lives at risk for a cheap thrill and to get attention. Well, not just me, but most people look at you like you're an idiot when you race down the road in traffic. Yep, and obviously you don't.
-
Did you read the title of the thread, or are you just joking?
-
Did I say shoot? No. Did I say kill? No. Did i mention guns? No. Did I say that I did or that I would? No. Do I think that people that tailgate motorcycles are a very serious threat to the lives of riders? Yes. That's a pretty big stretch. I can't say that it suprises me.
-
Amen. I've seriously thought about carrying weapons with me when I ride for the sole purpose of defending myself when I have a 6000lb SUV riding my ass in the right lane of the highway.
-
Maybe to you, but there are many people that would disagree. Good idea. Lamborghinis aren't made to be driven, they're made for rich guys to pick up hot women. If they only had a 4-cylinder engine in them, it'd be hard to justify spending a few hundred thousand dollars on one. Or he could go fast and kill a few people?
-
Ah. As far as cagers go, nothing scares me more than the stereotypical soccer-mom on a cell phone speeding in an SUV. I've nearly been hit 4 or 5 times in the last year by that group.

Referring to the ones I always see riding wheelies and standing on the seat going down the interstate at 120mph during rush hour traffic. ?
-
A new canopy I ordered a few weeks ago. You can play with it, but it may be a little big.

Did you think maybe he hasnt nothing to prove to all you badass "street racers"? Or perhaps doesnt give a fuck about racing around in his car. Do you have any idea how fucking retarded "street racing" is? Race through my neighborhood and see if you dont end up with a fucking brick through your windshield. Take it to the track and quit acting like a jackass that is out to kill innocent people on the roads. Exactly.

I'll be there, hopefully my new toy will be here by then.

Do you have life insurance?
-
Only if you're a fucking idiot intent on killing someone.

I got to shoot my Romanian AK yesterday.

Only safety reason I could think of would be the order. If you forget the last one, tt's alot easier to get on a plane with both leg straps on and no chest strap, than with a chest strap done and no leg straps.

That one was horribly, horribly wrong. My mind shall be haunted for an eternity due to that picture.

Oh, you're such a tease...

Due to the pressure differences of the air passing over the top skin (low pressure) and the air passing over the bottom skin, the air primarily "tries" to escape from the canopy through the top skin, and not through the bottom skin, where the pressure is higher. A hybrid with a ZP bottom skin and an F111 top skin would likely fly much like an all F111 canopy. Thanks, that seems to make sense. I've always wondered if air escaping through the top skin could affect the airflow over the top of the canopy enough to make a difference as well.

How do i get a rig through the airport?
justinb138 replied to mach2's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Sometimes it is not your choice. They can tell you no, they don't care what your TSA papers say and your only recourse it to waste time and miss your flight trying to convince higher ups. The airlines do have large, thick plastic bags to use in case this happens. I should have added "unless I absolutely have to". -
Has anyone been able to explain why they fly nearly the same as long as the top skin is ZP? I don't recall ever hearing a good explanation. I've flown a 200 a few times, and it flew pretty similar to a Sabre2 210, but with better openings.

The only reason I didn't was because I didn't have a bag to carry it on in. I sure as hell wasn't going to check it. I don't remember how, but I tied up the legstraps so that they weren't hanging down. My rig is mostly black, so it probably looked like some kind of backpack, and I didn't get any weird looks or anything, not even from the TSA people. -

When I flew out of Chicago a few months ago I just wore it on over my shoulders, no one even said a thing. -
I'm guessing the half F-111 thing scares some people off. The Sil I have has about 300 jumps on it, and it still flies and flares very nicely. I've put a few jumps on the Silhouette, Firebolt, Spectre, Sabre2, and Safire2, and preferred the Firebolt over the others. I would have loved to try a Lotus, but they don't make one in a size I'd be willing to try out just yet.

It works well for lazy people like me too.

I'll mention the Silhouette. It's not a very popular canopy, but I love mine.

Damn. Now I have to get a new keyboard....
