  1. The tax cuts aren't the problem. It's the government spending a bazillion dollars on useless shit that's going to be the problem. The tax cuts just aren't helping anything.
  2. Which I guess would then make replacing velcro on main risers, or sewing some elastic to the back of my rear risers to hold excess steering line a Master Rigger task? Then is it going to cost 300$ for a new set of risers because of the expenses involved in TSO testing them?
  3. thanks for the words of encouragement. I just saw an updated forecast, showing highs in the upper 30's. I'll jump in 40+ ground temps, but if it's colder than that, it ain't happening.
  4. I had the same kinda thing when my suit was new. Either I got used to it, or it stretched out a little bit, but it is much easier now.
  5. Ok, thanks. I was kinda confused for a minute.
  6. I was under the impression that sewing a patch was listed in the practical test standard for senior riggers.
  7. Don't worry, forecast shows it's going to be colder this next weekend, with highs in the mid- 40s.
  8. I don't know, but I'm sure I'll hear from someone who is unhappy about it. Honestly, I don't have a problem with anyone who chooses to smoke a little every once in a while in the privacy of their own home, etc... I do have a problem with people that are careless enough to do it in a manner which could injure or kill someone else.
  9. and I didn't go with them.. I'm sure 4 people aren't having the greatest night though... I needed to make a stop at the post office, so I left right after the game to drop off a letter to go out tomorrow. As I'm leaving the parking lot, a car pulls out about 50 yds down the road. They're driving just under the speed limit, but can't even manage to stay in the lane for 100ft at a time. They turn on to a busier road in town, going about 10 under the speed limit, then cross the center line a few times, the last of which the nearly hit an oncoming car. I'm thinking they're drunk as shit, so I decide to call 911 before these asshats hit someone. I follow them down the road where they proceed to make a left turn, oversteer, and nearly run off the street into a mailbox. Their next trick was nearly hitting an SUV a half mile down that road. Two blocks away, a few people get out of the car in front of a house, and two more are out sitting in the car. I left shortly after an officer arrived. The two officers came by just a few minutes ago to get a written statement, and it turns out there were four 16 year old kids in the car stoned out of their minds... anybody else have a weird weekend?
  10. Ever stop and think why he was trying to talk you out of it?
  11. I'm used to all of the DZ's teaching AFF down here. In that case, finish you're training then worry about gear.
  12. I didn't notice the "nj" container size mentioned in your first post. Sunpath lists that container size for a 120 and 120 reserve. With your jump numbers and exit weight, if you jump those canopies (loaded at 1.6) you will die. Finish AFF, then worry about gear.
  13. I'm about 5'7" and weight a little bit more than you do, and found that a C-17 fit me great. I'm thinking the MLW might be a little on the short side for you. As someone said, give the manufacturer a call (813 782 9242), give them your measurements, and they'll be able to tell you if it should fit. If possible, try it on to see if it'll work. If you can't do that, see if someone at your DZ has one with the same harness size and try that one on if they'll let ya. If you end up buying something that doesn't fit right, it's not a great deal.
  14. Alpine. It's all I'll ever use again. IMO, best sound quality available.
  15. Was it a company truck? If so, and it causes someone to get distracted and get in a wreck, they're just setting themselves up for a lawsuit.
  16. Why not jump all of them and decide on which one you like?
  17. I finally got around to sending you that Wings certificate, just wanted to let ya know.
  18. I've seen them fail to tighten a drain plug which burned up a guy's engine in a PT crusier about 2 or 3 miles away from the store.
  19. Oddly enough, cigarette smoke really annoys me, but I find cigar smoke to be quite pleasant. Edit: as long as it's not the cheap shit.
  20. I plan on spending my day on here at work and taking a psychology test.
  21. You can buy alot of congressmen with that much money.
  22. I don't know about you, but I'm getting tired of religious nuts expecting the world to cater to their feelings.
  23. If you're suddeny struck by some guy blowing through a red light, would you prefer him to be driving an SUV or VW?
  24. My DZ takes plastic... Mine does also, but I used to leave those at the house too.
