Sparky, I can't remember the specifics, but I have some flat dacron in the shop. I think it was for a round Canopy. Now, that I think about it, didn't the five cell Swift have flat Dacron lines?? MEL The last one I saw did.

To be sure I asked him for the Serial #, and after comparing it to some of the Mirages listed in the stolen gear database, the serial # I was given isn't even in the same format as the others (It had about 6 extra digits and 2 letters).
-
Bill, I think you get extra points for that phrase.
-
I don't hear or see any of the straight community doing it either. The ACLU defends alot of screwed up people and organizations. No news there.

I sent the same seller and email asking about the size of the mirage container they are selling. The response is posted below. I'm almost certain it's a scam. This guy obviously knows absolutely nothing about what he's selling. Can't send Pics due to copyrights? BS. The language (shitty english) is similar to other scam emails I've received. Also, the seller claims to be in the UK, but lists the item for sale in USD, which is something I've seen on most of the scams. I reported it as a scam yesterday, but it's still up in the classifieds.

Not really. I'd ask for proof that the guy has the canopy. I've never even heard of this "buysafe" thing, but something just doesn't seem right about the whole thing.

I reported it as a scam last night. It looks very, very sketchy. Based on the ad, the buyer doesn't know much about it, and they had another ad set up for a brand new Mirage G3 G4, which looked like the description and picture was ripped from the MIrage website.

So how was the drive home?

Did you notice any different in glide/forward speed?

New USPA Downsizing Chart proposal
justinb138 replied to BrianSGermain's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You're saying the speed on a 1:1 190 is greater than a 1.5 99? That just doesn't sound right. -

According to PD's website, they recommend nothing smaller than a 176 for a student and 143 for a novice at her weight. -
USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
justinb138 replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I'd like to think so, but I don't know if it would or not. I think doing something to make canopy coaching more available would be better (some sort of rating, etc..), but that's just my noob opinion. I'm planning on taking the next Scott Miller course, but I wish I could get coaching from someone on a more regular basis. -
Guess what I should have by 10am Friday!

Waiting for new gear is the worst thing in the world. I'm waiting on my new Firebolt to get here.... -

USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
justinb138 replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Brian is proposing it to USPA. The email said "Here is the new Downsizing Chart that I am proposing to the USPA Board of Directors. What do you think?" Ah, ok. It's a little different than what's in his book (recommended wingloadings seem lower, but I may not be reading it right) -
USPA downsizing guidelines proposal

Is the chart officially recommended by the USPA now or something? -
Are you talking about the main or reserve? There was nothing wrong with the main, the jumper unstowed only one of the brakes, then chopped it as it went into a spin.

The main was perfectly fine, so what does it matter? More than anyone else (except the instructor or herself of course) probably. -
Ever heard the term "attention whore"?

You might want to contact these people, they might be able to help. www.taa.org

Nice speed, but that's a pretty shitty glide ratio.

I saw a guy packing a tiny Katana like that a few months ago.

I don't. She made many mistakes that seem to indicate the sport isn't for her. This isn't all fun and games, you can die if you don't react properly and quickly. I tend to agree with pollster. "I didn't know what to do" isn't something one wants to hear from a skydiver. Hmmm... if you were a DZO and this girl came to jump at your DZ after all this, would you let her? The thing that bothers me the most is the "reserve is guaranteed to work" thing. -
I don't even have 100 jumps, but that's 100% Bullshit.
