  1. Thanks. Anyone know if a rigger took a look at the canopy afterwards?
  2. Nope. It looks like it opens just fine. The only thing I could think of was a possible tension knot in the brake line or rear line groups, but I couldn't tell from the video.
  3. Did anyone find out what the problem with her reserve was?
  4. You left out the planned escape that would have involved killing about 3 guards.
  5. I'm interested more in why he thinks otherwise rather than that. Whenever this subject coms up it seems like there's always a lot of hushed tones... I really wish we could muster up the courage to reason our way through it. I think he discusses it in his book, but I don't remember the context of it. I guess I need to do some more reading.
  6. This guy doesn't agree with you. Heard of him? http://www.briangermain.com
  7. It seems like stitching the risers like that is the skydiving equivalent of those big-ass exhaust pipes I always see on Hondas.
  8. I love it. It fits great, it doesn't cost an arm and a leg, and the wait time is usually always pretty short to get one. Their customer service is awesome too. My only complaint is that compared to other rigs it's a little more difficult to get the reserve to look nice, but now they have better instructions on their site which helps. If you do decide on a Wings, I've got a 75$ off cert I haven't used I'll send to ya.
  9. I like the way the Safire2 opens and flies, but preferred the Sabre2 overall. The Safire2 seemed slightly more aggressive, but I preferred the landings of the Sabre2. I'd recommend trying out a Firebolt. I put a few jumps on one 2 weeks ago and preferred it over both of them. If you're going to be down in Dallas in 3 or 4 weeks you can put a few jumps on the Firebolt 200 I just ordered, or give Nancy @ jumpshack a call and she can set you up w/ a demo.
  10. Here is another article with more information about him.
  11. I find it interesting that no news outlet mentioned just how he murdered those 4 people. Murder 1 Murders 2,3,4 If anybody is a candidate for the death penalty, it's this guy.
  12. From the forum rules: Can you and jen just go away for a week and save the mods the trouble?
  13. With the Skyhook, the collins lanyard should release the other riser and activate the reserve.
  14. No need to be defensive, I think he was just curious.
  15. You can make smartass remarks if you want, but detonating an explosive device over a few thousand pounds of jet fuel is rarely a good thing.
  16. How much jet fuel does a modern passenger jet hold? If they were at the terminal, how many were lined up right next to each other?
  17. why don't you look at your security proceedures instead of shooting innocent people dead then? You seem to have a solution for everything. Tell us, what would you do to make security better?
  18. What happens when you do it on a high-aspect ratio 9 cell though?
  19. It is unfortunate. It could have also turned out far different than it did. Not too stupid. How would it be possible to know that the bag went past the baggage screeners at the time? Obviously they did, after all, he said he had a bomb didn't he? The feredal goverment wasn't the one running down the aisle of a plane yelling they had a bomb. An almost-dead person can activate a bomb, a dead person can't. Simple really. See above. I'd say they handled it they only way they could have. They didn't know he didn't have a bomb, he wouldn't respond when they told him to stop, and there was no way they could have known he was a nut. It's not their responsibility to make sure he takes his meds and doesn't freak out. What would you be saying if he actually had a bomb and detonated it because they didn't shoot him because of his condition? His mental condition doesn't make him less likely to have a bomb than anyone else.
