  1. Certainly you mean a COPY of the Constitution. I don't think the actual US Constitution has ever been to the White House. I might be wrong, but I don't think it has. It wouldn't suprise me if even a copy of the Constitution has never been in the White House....
  2. Hmm. In just a few sentences your article groups people looking to buy ammo in with white-supremacists, racists, murderers, extremist groups, and skinheads, and then goes even further and includes attendees of a local TEA party in there as well. Gotta love unbiased reporting.
  3. I can understand why he did what he did, but I expect better from someone in his position.
  4. I've got a Trek 1500 (the older model of the 1.5) and it's been able to handle everything my big ass has been able to throw at it. I added some clipless pedals and a new set of tires and that's all I've ever had to mess with on it. That being said, they're all decent bikes, I think you'll be happiest on the one that fits you the best.
  5. So which CEOs have bene fired recently? GM, Chrysler, Citi, AIG etc....... Richard Fuld (Lehman Brothers). If my tax dollars weren't supporting them a few more on your list would probably be without jobs.
  6. Comfort - go to a range that has a large selection of rental guns and shoot a bunch of them to find out what you're most comfortable with. I like XD's, M&Ps, and 1911s, but I find Glocks uncomfortable. Everyone's different. "knock-down power" - Any of the common defense calibers are effective (9mm, .40, .45, etc..), and shot placement will make much more of a difference than anything else. Choose something you can afford to practice with regularly.
  7. I've always been curious why it is when people get killed with guns the anti-gun groups always say we need more gun laws instead of more murder laws.
  8. I know its knit-picky, but I can't reconcile in my own mind how someone could put their very life on the line for America's citizens and yet be against universal healthcare. It just doesn't make sense to me. Because that same person can realize that the idea of universal healthcare is much better than what the reality would be.
  9. If it was meant to be a collective right, they'd have written that - ("the right of the militia to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.") It might be misunderstood, but it is very clear.
  10. Given the holster they're required to keep it in, I'm suprised this hasn't happened before now.
  11. I seriously doubt that gun could kill unless it was shoved in someone's ear and fired - the bullet just doesn't have enough weight to penetrate deeply.
  12. I have a reloading press and could put together a few thousand rnds of ammo a day for any of the pistols I have, so controlling it would be a difficult, if not impossible, task.
  13. No it's not, it's controlling guns ("Gun Control", remember?). Come up with something that: 1. Doesn't infringe on my right to own a gun as a law-abiding citizen. 2. Keeps guns out of criminals' hands. 3. Actually works. and I'll consider it a reasonable method of "gun control". So far anti-gun groups have tried: 1. Banning handguns in certain cities - D.C, Chicago, etc. It doesn't prevent criminals from getting guns, and leaves law-abiding people defensless against those criminals. 2. Waiting periods. Still, no effect on gun crime, since it only applies to legal gun sales. Felons can't go into a gun store and buy one, so a waiting period doesn't really matter. 3. Gun Free Zones - Hmm.. Columbine, Virginia Tech, the few malls and other schools. Not much else to say about that. These ought to be called "Unarmed victim zones". 4. Assault weapons ban - Had no effect on gun crime, as the vast majority isn't committed with so-called 'assault-weapons', and never was. The only difference between an 'assault weapon' and the average deer rifle is its appearance, they function exactly the same. 5. Limiting magazine capacity (CA) - I can switch magazines in my .40 in around 1 second, so it really doesn't matter whether I have 2 mags of 15rnds or 3 mags of 10. Do you really think that banning guns would actually have an effect on crime? It hasn't worked in DC, what makes you think it'll be different anywhere else? There are hundreds of millions of firearms in this country, do you think they'll magically disappear if a law is passed banning them? What do I think would help keep guns out of the hands of violent criminals? 1. Keep criminals with multiple convictions in prison. Data I've seen shows the recidivism rate is between 60-80%, which means the majority of this crime is committed by people that have done it before. 2. Make being in prison worse. ie. Maricopa County, AZ worse. I'd imagine that spending a couple of years with 138-degree temps in a tent would serve as a much better deterrent than the average prison.
  14. Gun ownership does not 'cause' crime any more than a lighter causes arson. How about people try to control the one thing that does cause crime - criminals. Why not focus on the cause instead of the tool?
  15. The two humans that broke into the home obviously did. Lesson of the day: If you don't want to run the risk of getting shot, don't break into people's homes, especially in TX.
  16. Same here....I'd soooo love to be out drinking, but gotta spend all night here by myself in a 700,000sq ft. warehouse backing up a bunch of servers, etc..
  17. Yep, alive, and probably out robbing someone else, and possibly killing someone innocent in the process. If they're dumb enough to break into someone's house in the middle of the afternoon, what makes them smart enough not to go after an old guy with a shotgun? Break into someone's house and death may very well be the result (especially in TX), that's a risk you take when committing such a crime. If they're too dumb to realize that.... I hate stories like this.....
  18. Absolutely. I believe another mall shooting earlier this year was stopped by exactly that (an off-duty police officer who carried his weapon into the mall, despite the fact that it was posted as being "gun-free"). When will people realize that bullets are far more effective at stopping violent criminals than "No-Gun" signs? and what would be even more effective would be for people to not be able to get hold of guns in the first place...... How do you make 100 million guns disappear? Do you think that just because a law is passed banning them that they'll just go away and criminals won't be able to get them? There is no way to prevent criminals from getting guns. Concealed carry by law-abiding citizens is an effective method for stopping them when they try to use them however.
  19. Absolutely. 20. I once did this with a .44mag cartridge in a closed garage with no hearing protection, expecting something like a cap gun going off. Not something I'll do again. Nice muzzle flash, very, very loud, and had to clean the gun pretty well afterwards.
  21. TV Shows: House. My recent Netflix movies: Secondhand Lions Donnie Brasco Flushed Away Flyboys Donnie Darko
  22. Didnt the guy have a well-known prior history of crazy behaivor too?
  23. Generally such laws allow you to protect your home. Since it sounds like it was actually a construction site, rather than an occupied dwelling, it is unclear if that would apply. I don't believe Texas law, as written, is specific to the home, I just believe it mentions property. I'll check tonight to be sure. Being a construction site, he may not yet technically be the owner, so the law may not apply. Even then, I don't see criminal charges from it, but I can see it being pursued as a civil matter.
