  1. Nope, but I did ride a motorcycle 2.5 miles home after the clutch cable snapped while I was on the highway. It was, well, interesting... Clutch cables are overrated! Crazy thing is I somehow managed to get it home without killing the engine once. Ended up having to shift into neutral at stop signs (took the back roads home) and get a little bit of a running start to get going. I don't ride motorcycles that are older than I am anymore *****************************

  3. Ya, like the US government right up till Kuwait was invaded... And how many other countries did anything about it until then?
  4. I've been run of the road once, and nearly ran over while riding in a field by someone off-roading in a truck while on my Specialized Hard Rock Pro. No injuries as of yet. Specialized bikes kick ass. My 850cc Marauder wieghs about that too. Only motorcycle I know that weighs 300lbs is the little Ninja 250, and its dry weight is listed as 302, not that it matters True, but the media has to stir up some controvery over something. Probably. He is directly responsible for the deaths of 11 people (so far), injuries of hundreds, the destruction of a few trains, and probably hundreds of lawsuits against the train company, and most likely won't spend a day in jail.
  5. Check out www.joshgoodeband.com Look in the media section for "The Hangover Song" They're a local band here in TX, a friend of mine used to play guitar for them. The song is hilarious, and so true...
  6. Then you might want to write your state legislator about the scores of motorcyclists killed each year by simply riding down the road, from people running into them, over them and through them simply by not paying attention. That would be a better direction of your frustration and energies. As you stated, this is the first time someon on the trains has been killed, look at the numbers and see what battle needs to be fought first. From my past experiences, lawmakers don't seem to care about motorcyclists getting killed, seems there aren't enough of us to really be seen as an issue (unless you bring up motorcycle emissions tests, then we are a huge problem). It sucks because most people that plow over a motorcyclist because they wern't paying attention due to a cell phone, etc(blow through a stop sign, stoplight), don't get so much as a traffic ticket. When someone dies on a motorcycle, people seem to think "Well, motorcycles are danerous, thats why they died", not because some jackass made a left turn at a busy intersection without looking and "never saw them there". I've had two people pull that move on me and luckily I didn't hit them. [/rant]
  7. IIRC, there is one company that sold the devices to trigger the lights (I think it was infrared as well), but I believe that there is a lawsuit involved, so sales have ceased. Many of the newer systems being installed are digitally coded specifically to ensure that only emergency response people can trigger the system.
  8. From what I've seen, alot are based on timers, some on magnetic switches, and some a combination of the two. Alot of the busier areas are programmed differently during different times of the day to manage a higher traffic volume (lights stay green along main roads longer for rush hour, etc..). Alot of the ones on busy roads with low-volume intersecting streets are set to stay green all the time until someone pulls up to the intersection at one of the smaller roads. Most of the ones I've seen use magnets in the road. The magnets are about 1/2 in in diameter, and most are hard to see because they are covered with road grime. Alot of the roads in my area use the magnets, and it's a real bitch at a stoplight w/ a motorcycle because the magnets won't detect the bike there. There are a few companies that sell magnets to stick on the bottom of motorcycles specifically to prevent this.
  9. I've used both alot in the last few months, and they seem to be about the same. I think the speeds you get have alot to do with the area, especially with DSL.
  10. Next time she comes over leave an empty bottle of Valtrex in plain sight....
  11. I agree completely. I'm 21 now, and the amount of money I earn that goes towards Social Security sickens me knowing that I probably won't see a dime of it.
  12. I don't think it matters who stole from who, which design was first, who had the idea, who released it first, etc.... What matters is who does it better. Not that I'll be finding myself under one of those tiny pieces of nylon anytime soon
  13. Thats exactly what I was thinking when I read the first post.!
  14. terrorism n : the calculated use of violence (or threat of violence) against civilians in order to attain goals that are political or religious or ideological in nature; this is done through intimindation or coercion or instilling fear [syn: act of terrorism, terrorist act] I would say that exeuting civilians on TV, suicide bombings, etc qualifies them as terrorists. The nazis didn't kill people to just make a political point or instill fear in a population. I'm not familiar with the situation in Rwanda, but I'm guessing that wasn't the reasoning behind it either. We don't call that terrorism. We call that genocide. genocide n : systematic killing of a racial or cultural group [syn: race murder, racial extermination]
  15. I don't understand you're reasoning on this one, because the wars were started for different reasons. I don't wish to argue why GWB went over there, so lets not start that. No actually I would not - the Nazi's tortured and murdered millions, much of it filmed. We NEVER called them terrorists. The Rwandans tortured, hacked and mutilated 800,000 people in 100 days, and we never called them terrorists either. I think George Bush is really happy that the average American is gullible enough to buy this crap and bullshit about 'terrorists'. So easy to keep tying it to WMD's and 9/11 which has been proven again and again to NOT be related I'll call them doctors, pianists, painters if it will make you happy. It doesn't change the fact that they all killed scores of civilians. Unless the insurgents start adhering to the rules set forth by the geneva convention (stop hiding in mosques and disguising themselves as civilians, etc...), I don't think anyone is going to call them enemy soldiers. I don't see why you think that because I support the war in Iraq I support or even like GWB, as I don't.
  16. outdated constitution? seems to be working ok right now...... NRA? Nope... not a member... gun hording christian? yes, but I don't see how they are related.... weapons that are man killers? If a man breaks into my house and threatens the life of my family, I could kill him with a kitchen knife, a baseball bat, or any number of things around the house, but a gun would be alot more effective in stopping him. Guns don't kill people by themselves...criminals do.
  17. I guess if they didn't dress in civilian clothes we could call them soldiers, but that would require adhereing to the rules of the geneva convention I think. Hmmm..... Kuwait.....some of SH's own people in the early 90's? But if you beheaded a civilian and video'd it for television would you?
  18. No i just saw the picture of a father picking pieces of her 6 years old daughter who was blown up by an U.S bomb. So I take it the pictures of the tens of thousand of dead when SH gassed his own people a while back didn't bother you?
  19. via snopes: [Fuck] is a very old word, recorded in English since the 15th century (few acronyms predate the 20th century), with cognates in other Germanic languages. The Random House Historical Dictionary of American Slang (Random House, 1994, ISBN 0-394-54427-7) cites Middle Dutch fokken = "to thrust, copulate with"; Norwegian dialect fukka = "to copulate"; and Swedish dialect focka = "to strike, push, copulate" and fock = "penis". Although German ficken may enter the picture somehow, it is problematic in having e-grade, or umlaut, where all the others have o-grade or zero-grade of the vowel.
  20. I watch, it doesn't usually bother me. Only time I didn't was when I had to have blood drawn from an artery in my wrist. The had to dig around a little bit to find it, and seeing them move the needle around like that kinda freaked me out. Now that I think about it, it was the only time I've been poked with a needle where they said "I'm not going to lie, this is going to hurt like hell"
  21. I've got a year-old yellow lab that is wonderful! She was kinda crazy in the house at first, but was alright after she learned that she couldn't bury stuff in the couch/carpet... Labs are awesome !
  22. Some people have way too much time on their hands. The article sounds like it was written by some religious extremist on acid.
  23. and if that doesn't work try Vodka!
  24. awesome!... I still haven't got my w-2 in the mail yet . I'm trying to decide whether or not the money I get back is going to be used for a new main or tunnel time
  25. Some parents amaze me... that kid and his father need to be slapped....
