  1. High: Having breakfast with one of my best friends from high school that I haven't seen in 18 months last wednesday. Low: She left to go back to school at UT that day so I probably won't get to see her for at least another few months. Lower: Seeing a post that there was an incident at my home DZ today.
  2. I've never seen that site before and I just spent the last few hours on there...ya'll gotta stop posting sites like that or I'm never going to get anything done!
  3. No, I haven't...that sounds bad, is it bad? Depends on your perspective. My recollection might not be completely accurate, but I'll tell ya what I remember. A few months back a 16 y/o kid led the garland PD on a chase down the highway for a while on a Sportbike. He eventually decided it was a good idea to pull over and stop. Upon stopping a Police car pulled in front of him, officer got out and tackeled him (while on the bike). The officer dove at him, took him off the bike, w/o even touching the bike, it was quite a funny video actually. There was another incident a few months after that where someone was "roughed up" after being cuffed I think as well. Some see it as excessive force, but I have no sympathy for criminals.
  4. I believe it is unlawful to use deadly force unless your life is being threatened, but I'm not too sure of the laws here. I wouldn't shoot either, but I'd sure as hell try to detain them if I wasn't putting myself or others in danger. Risky, but if the guy was holding on to his wife, it may have been less risky than shooting near his wife. Agreed.
  5. Same here. Hear about any of the stuff thats been happening up here with the Garland PD lately?
  6. I failed miserably the first time... Once you figure out the pattern its not too hard though... Edit: Ok, I'll be honest.... I failed the 2nd time too..
  7. Other stuff: 1. People driving and talking on cell phones. 2. Every kid with a honda/misc. compact car driving down the road with an exhaust pipe bigger than a 5 gallon bucket, a spoiler that looks like it was designed for a top fuel dragster, while talking on a cell phone and watching a movie on a 14inch LCD screen mounted to the dash and driving down the road at 100mph in afternoon traffic. Skydiving: 1. Driving 96.2 miles to the DZ on a beautiful Saturday morning, getting geared up, then the winds pick up just enough to keep me on the ground (still on student status). 2. Winter 3. Rain 4. Making a few jumps on Sunday, then having to go back to my desk on monday morning (my office has no windows!)
  8. That's the exact reason I don't ride my motorcycle any more. Worrying about getting plowed down by a jackass on a cell phone driving the biggest SUV known to man just took all the fun out of it.
  9. "Make sure your legstraps are snug, because you can always cutaway a line-over, but you can't cutaway a nut-under."
  10. Hint #1. If I remember correctly, the Mac computer company (if that is what is referenced in the email, which it appears to be) is spelled Mackintosh. I think it's spelled Macintosh. Any company that is going to give away money will probably spell check their communication. Hint #2. What company contact has a Netscape.net Email address?
  11. Two days? Saturday was nice...(except for my interesting landing). The weather on Sunday certainly sucked down there though... It looks about the same up here today.. Edit: because I can't spell I was speaking hypothetically, but hey - it's great to see you - ya know - pond swooping probably isn't a good thing to try just yet.(I kid, I kid) Glad everything worked out ok, not too soggy I hope. Did Dave talk you into becoming a poster here? He's EVIL I tell you - EVIL - I was a hard worker before he corrupted me. He gave me my first little taste for free - now look at me. Really nice meeting you, Justin Thanks, It was nice meeting you guys, and I had a great time down there this weekend. The water wasn't too bad, I needed to wash my jumpsuit anyway . Suprisingly, it was pretty much the only thing that got wet. I think I'm gonna have to go down there again sometime in the next few months to work on landing on something made of dirt
  12. I did my first jump out of a 182 this weekend.... It was kinda nice....
  13. You mean like the Security camera directly over my head at work right now? Yeah... Kinda...
  14. I won't make it easy for people to get to stuff (leaving it out in plain sight), I usually leave stuff hidden in my gear bag. The only place I usually don't bother locking my car is the DZ though.

  16. A lightly loaded Nitron was recommended to me by Chris Martin when we were talking at length about canopy selection and inquired about demoing a Fusion back in Oct. I asked if it was an overly aggressive canopy given my experience level and he said I would be much happier with it at a light wingloading than a Fusion. I probably had 50-60 jumps at the time. I'd wait a bit longer before making a purchase personally. Sorry about that, it would probably make more sense if you knew more about me. I'm about 240 OTD and the largest size nitron they make is a 170. That would put me at a 1.4 wingloading, which would most likely cause me bodily harm at one point or another..
  17. Im sitting here watching that dodgeball movie...
  18. I mistakenly did the same kinda thing. I have a royal blue/black jumpsuit with silver on it, and a black container with with silver and blue stripes. I was sitting down yesterday thinking about colors for a canopy and realized anything matching would be hazardous to my health. I've pretty much decided whatever canopy I get is going to be neon green
  19. IMO, alot of the RW guys at my DZ. I was out there a few weeks ago when the temp was in the mid 30s (In Texas!)and they were the only ones getting in the plane!.
  20. Yeah, I have noticed alot of it seems to be the same lately. The fact that they show reruns about 15 different times each week (on each of the 3 different L & O shows) makes it kind of excessive sometimes. I usually will just watch the show with the weird guy from the movie "Full Metal Jacket".
  21. There's a Law and Order marathon on TV in memory of Jerry Orbach. It's quite entertaining..
  22. System restore has worked well for me in the past too. If nothing else works you can try to delete the keys in the registry that cause the programs to start when windows boots up.
  23. Sorry about that, I edited my response right after I read the rest of your post. I gotta stop reading the forums after I've been drinkin' a little bit
  24. Download Ad-Aware SE. It should remove anything that was installed. It's free too
