I'm moving to DC and opening a fried chicken joint within a couple blocks from the Whitehouse. In eight years, I'll retire a wealthy man. Awesome idea, and you can probably get a small business loan and/or tax cut to help you get started BTW, for clarity, the "paint it black" comment is something that I heard in complete seriousness here in Florida from someone who should know better. Unfortunately the passing of California Prop 8, Florida Prop 2 and Arizona Prop 102 -- and probably more that didn't hit my awareness radar -- demonstrate that the back-water religious freaks are not necessarily on the back of the bus. Today, when I should be able to agree with you I can't. Sorry, bad quoting / replying on my part. I was replying to mrwrong who was replying to Squeak (which is what I meant by original). Original kinda makes sense (at least in my brain-addled state today) if you read the posts in order. Only Kinda though, my bad. THIS, THIS .. a thousand times this. The Libertarian party really stepped on their dick this election season. A reasonable (dare I say normal) small government, lower taxes, more freedom candidate could have made quite a splash this year, IMHO. Any die-hard Libertarian party support should be ashamed of their party this year for the squandered opportunity. Full disclosure, I'm a "small l" libertarian, not a big-L Libertarian. Keep this in mind; when I was a kid my parents resisted, and resisted, and resisted getting my tonsils out. I ended up having them removed as an adult (27-28?) and it was the most horrible experience of my life. Having an adult tonsillectomy is dangerous, painful, and has a loooong recovery time. I was out of work for 2 weeks, back to work for 2 days and then back in the hospital for another long weekend due to an infection and missed another week of work on the back end. I've never to this day forgiven them for resisting a childhood tonsillectomy It wouldn't hurt you to think like a fucking serial killer every once in a while - just for the sake of prevention -
My wife's ex tried to claim her kid the year of his 18th birthday. He (the kid) lived with us until he was 18 and graduated HS (both events a few days apart) and then moved where the "grass was greener". Fast forward, the ex tried to force the son to file his tax return checking the "i can be claimed as dependent on someone else's return" check box so that dad could save tax money. (Note that son was paying rent, working full time, etc. not in school). We found out, helped son file correctly and wrote various letters to the H&R block tax office that dad uses and the IRS fraud center with documentation and tax law references to indicate that dad wasn't entitled. Guess who got audited
