  1. On my PAD (as opposed to IAD.. Plane Assisted Deployement) my reserve opened in about 1 or 2 seconds (from the video) Remi Muff 914
  2. Thats right stumpy.... line twists under a large student main is not a critical mal... you usually have enough altitude to kick out of em... thats a combinaison of the extra altitude students/novices open at, and that the canopy are quite docile and will withstand some distortion before behaving like killers... now put the same line twists (and we're not talking about dozens of twists, but a couple..3,4...) under a more heavily loaded eliptical, and that canopy will spin VERY rapidly..... and the odds are it will have twisted by the initial turns that became the spin, making it harder to kick out of (thats what my brain tells me anyways).... Now, you have a highly loaded canopy turning very fast (eg pulling a few Gs) with mini rings and no cutaway cable riser housings (note that I dont know if this is the case with this incident, but its a very commun configuration - I have it) and you end up with a possibly nasty situation you cant cutaway from.... My thoughts to the famillies.... Remi Muff 914
  3. notice how quickly this simple little project became more complicated then organizing the Nationals.... long sleeve short sleeve colors... 4 ot 5? different designs different quotes I'll sell you a project manager for this one MM... we only charge US$1,500 a day! cheap at 1/2 the price I say... 4. A buddy of mine is looking for a online video of a Tandem.. I'm sure one of us Geeks has one, or has a link to one... Can you help? Remi Muff 914
  5. I agree Lisa... necessity is the mother of all invention, and companies like Precision, or any other for that mather of fact, are not charities. I am sure that what is driving them is mostly a desire to help people and minimize, if not avoid, any unecessary death is a similar event... but the desire to make a buck is in there somewhere too, as it should be... Afghan save

The SAS must have used the same good intelligence the FBI is using to name the terrorists involved in the WTC (you know, the ones that died 1 year ago...).... Remi Muff 914
  7. Goes to show signing all sorts of waivers does not mean you cant sue..... and this isnt even the US!!! hard to tell anything from that article anyways as its form the main media.... no real actual detailsof the incident... does anyone have more info? Remi Muff 914
  8. Closest realy major airport: Barcelona (1 1/2 to 2 hours drive). I've found that BA and BD have regular and not too expensive flights there... plus if you live in the South West of London, you dont have to drag your ass all the way to Luton or Stansted (which on a Friday night can be a nightmare)... However, there are discount airlines flying to a couple of places that are closer: Perpignan in France, and Girona in Spain (about 45 to 1 hour drive). Check our Ryan air and others... Easy jet flys to barcolona too. Remi Muff 914
  9. Mark: lets not go there..... Remi Muff 914

We've had really good experience with their CS too... We bough a used Sabre 135 a few years back with only a handfull of jumps on it (10 to 20, cant remember now)but after a couple of months, we notice the centre cell top skin was looking "weird", as if it was aging very quickly. Also, the zp'ness of that pannel was going fast ( I could suck air through it). We send it back to PD, and even if it was a 2 or 3 year old canopy, they exchanged it for a new one for a nominal charge (I think about $100) Cant argue with that.... Remi Muff 914
  13. If what you want is to land you heel on a 3cm target, then sinking the canopy from 50 feet is for you! make sure you aim for a nice air inflated tuffet though, as it may hurt otherwise! Remember : the guys (and gals of course) who do hard core accuracy fly canopies designed for that purpose only: they will keep on flying (if you want to call it flying) even while going straight down, and even slighly backwards (having never flown one, I am speaking completely though my hat on this one). 14. as I remember all the reports I've seen, it was not quite like that... She was in the trail plane (King air) and the lead was a Twin Otter. Either during jump run or exit, the King Air moved ahead of the Otter (one can speculate why, allthough the King Air has a faster stall speed, so it may have had to increase speed to stay up and overtook the other plane). She exited one before last and struck one of the prop of the Otter. Remi Muff 914
  15. I really dont think its a general rule that Euro DZs require cypres's... Now hook knives.. cant jumps without one (in the UK at least)... god forbid you need to put your life in the hands of a $3.99 piece of crappy orange plastic.... Remi Muff 914
  16. .... stop being so horrible to fat people!!! .... yeah.... we can be hurt too..... we're human too... well kinda.... Remi Muff 914

i think it is good to have more competition in the gear market.... remember when all there really was was PD? (yea... some real old timer will remember before that)... That being said, all I ever had for main has been PD (except for a 75 jump excursion into Aerodyne Land)... there is something to be said about a long standing trusted name Remi Muff 914
  18. what they said..... but throwing a big hut tub party is better.... Remi Muff 914
  19. Chuck said The best dropzones, like mine, are places where everyone drinks and raises hell together, then passes out all over the DZ, regardless of their prefered flying style ............................. GROSS!!!!! can you imagine waking up next to an unbathed freak!!!!!!! Remi (siting in a Internet cafe in Paris getting real freaking frustrated with their stupid AZERY keybords::::) Remi Muff 914
  20. someone forgot to mention nipple clamps... eheheheh Remi Muff 914
  21. I'm not sure about the bass fishing though.... the reactive nature of the bass skin may conteract the chemical stability of the compiste construction.... Why skydive if you can do some Extreme Bass Fishing? Remi Muff 914
  22. As the token North American living in Europe, I'll have to say Espace Boogie.... Its not hard core partying at night (allthough there definatly is some action), but what I want in a boogie is good skydiving from big planes.... and usulally, they are big (this year was a bit of a let down with no Antonov and no turbine DC3). I would pick it over Quincy... And the skydiving is QUALITY..... but you should have a good level of proficiency to come ... And you freaks should like it too....Some of the biggest FF formations I've seen.... Plus: French food...... mmmmmmmmmm So if you want to take a Europeam holiday, remember Espace.... Remi Muff 914
  23. Thx Kel, really usefull stuff... but really, you need to stop speading fatcs around like this... spreadind un-informed rumors is much more fun.... as far as the cypres goes, what you should bring is rather the US DOT letter (I think there is a scan of that on the Aitec website at http://www.pia.com/SSK/cypres/dot_pr_082500.pdf) Remi Muff 914
  24. Ben: next weekend (not this week) : CRW camp at Langar.. could do a CRW record too! lol Remi Muff 914
  25. ...FF1 and FS1... they're some obscure british cerification thingy... been here 2 years and I still dont know what they mean.... sorta like self supervised and then 4 point 4 way or something... or is that FS8? Damm Brits... they're good at making things complicated.... Remi who still is frustrated about moving to a country where you need 1000 jumps for your D.... Remi Muff 914
